EVE Online dev blog hints at the coming inferno photo

Yesterday Johnathan Lander, senior producer of EVE Online, posted on their dev blog about the upcoming expansion, "Inferno." Most of the post is a mix of back slapping and reminding players of the changes the game has been through since the last expansion launched.

Lander is clearly a bit of a tease since he barely gives up any real information about Inferno. There's going to be work done on the avatar technology, factional warfare, Concord sanctioned warfare and a bunch of fixes. There will also be more information revealed about how DUST 514 and EVE will be linked. That's it, I just saved you from reading a long blog post about very little. It's here if you still feel the need to read it.

Still pretty psyched about Dust 514. I like the idea of being able to have some small influence in the EVE universe without having to actually learn to play Microsoft Excel: The Game.

@ Tristrix

But spreadsheets are awesome! Seriously though, I want to see a Dtoid Merc group for Dust. I'm completely down for that. How about you Trist?

Oh fuck yes. Absolutely. I should point out I'm notoriously BAD at online multiplayer FPSes, but I'll happily drag the group down if I'm welcome.

Looks like we're heading for paradise, judging by that Inferno picture

The great thing about Eve is you can surf the Internet while you are playing, as I'm doing right now.

Seriously I think a lot more people wouldplay it if they make the game a desktop wallpaper you play while doing other tasks on the computer. Also it is not a half bad way to catch up onthose PSP games I haven't gotten to yet.

That's what windowed mode is for! That said I quit last year and haven't felt the urge to return yet.

As an avid Eve player, these comments make me weep.

EVE just requires attention to details that most people don't have; thus why EVE's overall community is better than the average MMO. The amount of teamwork I see in my corporation members is astounding compared to every other MMO I've come across.

It just requires that you pay attention to details and be able to think past simple button-mashing techniques that current MMO's like WoW have become. Besides, after you're in the game for afew months; all the attributes of the ships start to make alot of sense, and you can compare ships more readily as you play. I think thats why I like it so much, you're always learning a new trick or a new ship setup, or a new fleet composition to take on other people.

If you're a tactician, you'll love EVE. If you're the kind of person who loved loading out mech's in mechwarrior, you'll love what EVE offers you for ship custom load-outs.

The learning curve of EVE is so big, because the potential for great things, aswell as extremely stupid things, is so high. Makes it win-win to me.

Now if only they'd release more info about the next expansion...
