Dang. I recently got myself a month in EVE, so see if I could make the 500 mil for a plex, and continue playing with only in game money. About two weeks in, I'm only at 100 mill, and that's because I got lucking on a EVE gambling site.
It's refreshing to play a game that isn't overly simplified, but it's either pay 15 bucks a month, or destroy my social life to play. This game is dangerous, I better quite while I'm ahead.

600 days of play time for a top-range video card? That's actually not a bad deal, assuming the things last as long.
Holy shit. I heard that these weren't even a great deal considering the complicated conversions between currencies. Didn't stop a lot of people swooping in on these like dive bombing vultures.
I wonder how Diablo 3 will work out, since trading has been replaced with gold and money auction houses. Can't wait to sell excess or old loot for either new loot or dinner.

Arttemis, It obviously wasnt a good deal to pump in cash for plex to get the video card, but if your one of those market tycoons and know how to buy and sell massive amounts of goods at a profit then it's cool (think of the people with hundreds of thosands of gold from playing the AH in WoW, just make it 90% more complicated because each space station is an isolated market)
How much does the PLEX or whatever required for the transaction work out for in real world money? Like USD?

My selling of game items for goods is my pair of Team Fortress 2 earbuds. Got gifted Borderlands Game of the year edition and metro 2033 for them. Decent deal to me!
Yeah, there sure were a lot of in-game and menu screen adverts to buy PLEX for the month I resubscribed.
Its still tempting to go back to Eve but its too dangerous for me, the little social life I have now would go down the drain
As for the Plex, in USD its $15 each but the price players can sell it for in-game is driven by the player market. I've talked to a couple of people who fund their accounts using only in-game credits to buy and flip Plex, the important part being they've been playing for a while and know what they are doing, something I can't do as a noob.

Not so much a good deal for your average EvE player. Then again this promotion isn't aimed at average players its aimed at the same types of players who bought the monocle with Plex when it was thrown up for like $80.
