Europeans getting Metroid free with Metroid Prime Trilogy photo

Often getting the short end of the stick when it comes to release dates, bonus items and even games themselves, Europeans are going to have an opportunity to get a little something from Nintendo with September's release of Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii.

The first 5,000 European Wii owners who register their copy of Prime Trilogy at the Euro Club Nintendo website will receive a gift of the original Metroid as a Virtual Console download. Sure, it's a game that pretty much every self-respecting Metroid fan already has but, then again, those people probably bought the first-person adventures of Samus Aran the first time they came around too. It's possible that the game might reach some people who don't already own it or haven't played it before, I suppose.

Not much, but at least it's something.

Nice deal, sadly I'm not fond of the first metroid :(

So that makes up for all of the other gaming-related shafts that Europe is constantly on the wrong end of, right?

We're even stevens now!

@Dinnertime
I don't think anything can make up for the Tales of Vesperia debacle.

Um...didn't the first Prime have NES Metroid as an unlock? You had to link Fusion to it I think, but I was under the impression there was a way to do this within the Trilogy as well.

Redundant gift, huzzah. *shot*

You got it right Doomsday, link up fusion to the original Prime and you unlock the full original Metroid in Prime. I still own Prime and fusion so I'm not that broken up about not getting in on this promo.

I have an original copy, and a working NES, so: Meh...

Nice bonus, but I'm pretty sure I have 2-3 copies already, given that it's been an unlockable in a few other relatively recent Metroid games.

Never played the first two installments of the Metroid series, and since I don't live in Europe that'll be staying the same for at least a while. I do have it pre-ordered though.

HOLYMOTHEROFGODYES! was my initial reaction. Actually my first reaction was me babbling before making actual speech pop out but I'm still feeling AWESOME! If only everyone had access to a Classic/Gamecube controller because then we could have gotten SUPER Metroid! Too bad I'm always slow at getting to these things so my chances are laughably low. I can still hope!

Though yes what they usually do to PAL regions is stupid and slow I'm not going to turn such a good deal down!

It's also an unlockable in Metroid: Zero Mission...

Cool idea but I live in the US and have all the Metroid games anyways. Maybe this will make new fans play the old games though.

I want the Bionic Commando: Rearmed treatment for the original Metroid, and for it to retain the code to play with Samus in her skimpies.

Wasn't Metoroid Zero for the GBA a remake of the first Metroid?

They want to bring back the Metroid fans? Well, here's a hint. Metroid 2 hasn't had any type of remake or reissue yet. Official, anyways.

Only in the loosest sense. The first Metroid wouldn't benefit much from a faithful remake. It just isn't as good as the later ones.

And I have another hint to bring back more Metroid fans. Actually make another 2D Metroid.

@gamadaya: I would ove another 2D Metroid. Especially if they can make it as god at Super Metroid.

Yay for the European region! It’s about time our gaming friends across the pond got something cool specifically for their region. I have heard nightmares from my Euro "LIVE friends" regarding how the gaming industry treats your nations…maybe we need a gaming UN (yeah, right LOL). It may have something to do with European nations (Germany and France) recovering more quickly from the world recession than we are here in the states, but whatever the reason, kudos!

HOW IS THIS A GOOD DEAL!?

Do you people not remember that Metroid 1 WAS UNLOCKABLE in the original Metroid Prime??? Fuck you Nintendo, Metroid 1 should've already been on the goddamn disc!!!
