Europe screwed again: New PSPs are rubbish photo

Sony's new renovated PSP is not only going to be far lighter and thinner, but will also be able to be played on televisions, thus eliminating the need for ... well ... the PSP. Unless of course you're in Europe, as it's become clear that we in the land of fish n' chips will have to wait, as per usual, for the PSP's biggest new feature. Naturally, there's absolutely no reason for this, but Sony will not be providing the cables needed to take advantage of the new feature, and have not given a timeframe in which they will actually bother.

Furthermore, those new colors for the PSP are also going to be missing in action until somebody gives enough of a crap. You'll get black and like it, you limey ragamuffins. I honestly wouldn't mind quite so much if they gave an actual reason for this garbage, even if it was simply, "You know, we just can't be bothered."

[TheGol ... yeah, you know who. Sorry for lack of photo caption, still need to get some editing software while I'm in the USA]

If I didn't already have a PSP sitting there doing not alot (alongside my DS), and I was planning on getting this, I'd be incredibly annoyed.

Some third party will pick up on this news and get a cable out there I expect.

Well, your standard def is in PAL format instead of NTSC. That could be the reason for the delay.

Although with the status of the Europe PlayStation Store, I wouldn't disagree that Sony seems to hate its customers in Europe. It's funny considering the Europeans are so loyal to them. I think this is just another example of Sony doing just about everything wrong from a business standpoint. Anyone in Europe right now must be noticing how much better you get treated when the Xbox is outselling the PS3 in your region. Stop buying the PS3 in Europe and they'll probably drastically alter the way they're treating you. Sad but true.

So... its hardly rubbish, its just not coming with the cables, and it only comes in one colour (so far). It still gets the other upgrades. Not exactly a good title there, jim.

Youre right on the other counts tho, it would be nice of the jerks to give a reason. Although, i cant think of any others than the one you mention. Just another example of sony's incredible ability to make great products but then try to make people not want to buy them.

ajaxander: You sell something without the major selling point? Yeah, it's rubbish. Excellent title, actually.

any 10 year old vcr can output pal or ntsc, Also, most of European tvs can receive ntsc (well I think so, since I live in Brazil, a pal-m country, and we have pal and ntsc since like, forever)
The only reason for not including cables that I can think of, is sony being a bunch of scumbags

TBH, i have no idea why sony are doing this tv cable thing in the first place. Its a hand held gaming device. If its screen is not worth playing on, its not worth buying. It could be kind of useful for a couple of games i suppose, but if that was the biggest selling point of a revision to the psp, then sony would be dumber than i thought... luckily it isnt. Lets not ignore that the thing is lighter, thinner, has longer battery life, and has more system memory and can cache data to make loading quicker (after an admittedly longer initial loading of the game - but the whole process is optional).

Okay, so yeah, sony are screwing up majorly by not including the cable. That doesnt make the psp slim rubbish. It makes sony a bunch of overly rich idiots who think their company is invincible, as long as america is kept happy(im from nz btw, so im in the same boat as you for games).

The funny thing is the U.K terrestrial tv signal is being switched off in 2010, as they are hoping everyone is digital tv by then. Applying this to PSP is pointless in the U.K.

@Cowboy TTop:

Huh? How does no longer broadcasting analog TV over the air have anything to do with the PSP allowing you to hook cables up to a TV?

@Jim Sterling

Jim, might I suggest an open-source program called "the GIMP"? If all you are doing is trying to put "PEW PEW PEW!" in the Destructoid font over an image of Chewbacca, it should more than do the trick.

S'what I use instead of Photoshop. And it's free.

PSP sucks anyway, so it's not a huge loss to Europe.

Europe is used to being screwed on games. I wasn't even surprised when Rock Band was delayed and people said the CoD4 beta was American exclusive (although that turned out to be false of course).

We can complain all we like Jim (and god knows I will be), but the sad truth is that the new PSP will sell just as well in Europe as in the other continents, and Sony will get away with treating us like shit just like every other gaming company does.

Well, I guess that's what you get when you support $ony. No idea how Europe can consistently have $ony's back when $ony never has their's. New PSPs suck anyways, so it doesn't make a difference. Until they add a second analog stick (which will NEVER happen), you shouldn't bother buying a new one, it is only going to have better anti-homebrew protection.

Damn I'm glad I don't live in Europe.

I'm picking up one of these babies as soon as I can. Final Fantasy Tactics? With a coherent storyline??

My pants. They're too tight.

Still. Boo to Sony.

I'm sure Sony will eventually bring Europe some PSP2K cable love. But it'll probably come at a much higher price.
