Europe gets Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for DS soon photo

While we found out that the latest Valkyrie Profile title, Covenant of the Plume, would be coming to US shores earlier this month, we were still left hanging about its future in Europe -- there had been no official announcement. Today tactical RPG fans can breathe a sigh of relief, because Square-Enix has confirmed that the title will be coming to Europe and other PAL territories in Spring of 2009 for the Nintendo DS.

I have to be honest -- while I have several Valkyrie Profile games, I have actually never played any of them yet, due to the too many games problem that pretty much all of us are currently suffering from. Anyone a big fan of them, and if so which is your favorite?

SQUARE ENIX ANNOUNCES VALKYRIE PROFILE: COVENANT OF THE PLUME FOR EUROPE AND PAL TERRITORIES

London (24th November 2008) – Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that VALKYRIE PROFILE®: Covenant of the Plume™ will be released across PAL territories in Spring 2009, exclusively on the Nintendo DS™ handheld system.

VALKYRIE PROFILE: Covenant of the Plume is the next installment in this unique series of titles created by leading RPG developer tri-Ace. Brought for the first time to the Nintendo DS, VALKYRIE PROFILE: Covenant of the Plume follows the story of the young soldier Wylfred, who seeks retaliation against the valkyries since Lenneth took his father's life. VALKYRIE PROFILE: Covenant of the Plume pushes the limits of the Nintendo DS to its limits in terms of production and game-play whilst delivering an amazing strategic RPG gaming experience. With an innovative tactical battle system, multiple game chapters and game endings, the future of Wylfred and Midgard is truly in the hands of the player.

John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "We are delighted to bringing a new installment to Europe of the critically acclaimed Valkyrie Profile series. We hope fans will enjoy the captivating story of VALKYRIE PROFILE: Covenant of the Plume on their Nintendo DS."

You have several Valkrie Profile games? You mean all two of them? And the first one is one of Tri-Ace's best games ever. The second one looked interesting, but really complex. I never played it much myself. This game seems awesome from what I played though, as it's a combination of the VP combat system with a TBS. I'm only scared of burning out on TBS, because there are SO MANY good ones on DS it's getting ridiculous.

And yeah, screenshot is SO4...

Valkyrie Profile 1 (aka Lenneth) for the PS 1 or PSP is definitely the better of the two right now. In matter of fact it is one of my favorite games. I just loved the character development and story involving Lenneth! Plus I really enjoyed the music and dungeon backgrounds. However the games can be at times confusing (i.e. the various ending of Valkyrie Profile 1 (aka Lenneth)) so you really want to take your time at them.

I'm looking forward to the VP DS game, even though it's going to make me buy a DS again. Also, I thought that Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria was great, I don't know why it gets so much hate.

Also, I like the use of the Random Star Ocean 4 screenshot. More articles, whether they have to do with tri-Ace or not, should use Screens from SO4 for their headers.

I have both of them, and they are both excellent.
I have completed neither of them. Maybe if I do, I'll know how Arngrim is in both. Doesn't VP2 take place a long time before VP1? I can't remember...

I prefer the battle system of VP2 to VP1, even though they're basically the same thing except in VP2 there is a 3D battle map for you to move around on and you have to judge range.

VP1 on the PS1 and PSP is one of the best RPG's of all time, and is the only Tri-Ace game worth playing IMO.

Silmeria is absolute crap, like all of Tri-Ace's games that are NOT Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.

Thats so awesome! Jesus, I need to find more free time for DS RPGS. One of the fastest growing genres there is, I swear.
