While everybody in Japan and America have been enjoying their "last-gen" rumble, we in Europe have had to do without. Obviously, this is understandable, because just like Smash Brothers, there is simply so much translation involved. You need to change "DualShock" on the boxes to "L'DualShock," and that takes forever!
Sony claims the DualShock 3 is the "first choice for gamers," which is funny, because up until now we've not had that choice. Fear not, however, for we have now been graced with a release date, and that date is July 4th.
How amusing: it's the only time a British person has had a reason to celebrate Independence Day.
[Update: It seems likely that the July 4 release date is for the UK & Ireland only. Europe, however, should be enjoying the DS3 as soon as July 2. Good going!]
I'm glad you guys'll finally get to experience the DualShock 3. Once you pick it up, going back to the Sixaxis makes you feel like a Neanderthal.
You're moving to te US of A so this means bollocks to you, SIR.
About bloody time! Conveniently enough, I'm leaving my near-forsaken home town and is heading for the nearest city on Thursday.
I hear they sell games there!
That picture pretty much summed up my emotions on the subject.
at last were going to get.......waait a minute
i already have one!
@ Samit - I kinda disagree, I was playing MGS4 for a few hours last night before I realized I wasn't using my DS3. It's nice, but the vibration is definitly a passive sense during gaming in my opinion. Most people I see getting PS3's don't even care if they get a bundle with the rumble controller or not. The hardcore audience is definitely the one's that blew this out of proportion.
@PixelJunky: Well, the vibration isn't jarring, but frankly, I like that. It's comfortable. To be honest, I love the DS3 more for its weight than its vibration function. The feathery-light Sixaxis just feels like a mere toy in comparison.
America being run by the UK is last gen.
We've sold the american versions in my store for like two months, to hell with waiting!
And yeah, going back to the Sixaxis feels messed up, it weighs way too little.
@ Samit Sarkar - I'm with you on preferring to play with the DS3 for the weight. Now I've gotten used to playing with the heavier pad, I hate having to use a Sixaxis one.
Wait a minute, that's this Friday?! At least they are coming swiftly!
I've read other sources saying July 2nd. So might be Wednesday
@ Samit, I too will agree with you on the weight aspect. My sub woofer though makes me feel impacts more than the DS3, but I realize not everyone games with a 12 inch subwoofer. It's good news for sure, and better late than never.
I think it's a type of cheese.
