EU Gran Turismo 5 demo coming December 17 photo

EU, as in Europe. No news for us yet on a Gran Turismo 5 demo.

The European PlayStation Blog confirms that a demo of the long awaited PS3 version of Polyphony Digital's only claim to fame is coming December 17th. They're calling it the GT Academy 2010 Time Trial, where all of Europe will race down to the top twenty from each country, all using the above pictured car, a Nissan 370Z. A posting of top times is required by January 24th. Then, the top twenty nationally will go on to the GT Academy. Win it all and become a real frickin' race driver, thanks to Nissan and Sony.

I'd bet they give us the demo too. Not the cool contest, though.

In other words, "Gran Turismo 5 demo coming December 17 for anyone who has a European account." :P

Bah, living on the land. I live in freaking Utah and I'm still going to be getting this when they put it up.

If that's when the demo comes out (in Europe), then when does the actual game come out?

I hope GT5 is as much of a stunner as everyone expects. The only thing better than one brilliant car sim is TWO brilliant car sims. (Maybe 3, counting NFS: Shift. I haven't given it a spin, yet.)

Second: This game is never coming out.

Sooo... who is most effective at grinding round corners to get round them full speed, right?

Unless the full damage features are in it, of course.

@Jon B

Have you even played Prologue or know anything of GT5? Are you aware of the previous GT Academy that just concluded with a series podium finish? Doesn't seem that way. Fuck off troll.

You are aware that I own boxed copies of every single Gran Turismo game to date, and it is common practice to grind on corners instead of doing them properly.
And yes, it worked just fine in Prologue as I remember a lot of people complaining on this very site that people were abusing that technique to bolster their times unfairly.

I think he's referencing the old GT escudo glitch where you could tune it to 1000+ HP, enter a endurance race and win it just by riding the wall. Works best on the high speed ring.

That's an extreme version of the principle I'm on about. I think about 4/5 tracks you could do that on and win with no participation at all.
It still exists that you can crash into a corner to get around it quicker than you would otherwise.
Hell, the same happens on Forza 3, just your time is invalidated for doing so.

Good thing I have a Spanish PSN account! :D

The Spanish PlayStation Store is in on this, right?

Since about Spec-3 got GT5:p there is a pretty severe penalty for hitting a wall at speed... I don't even know of any places left that work for that. The biggest issue now is cutting the grass on Suzuka before the hairpin, but most people dont do it.

And if you really owned all the games you wouldn't make a statement like this:

"And yes, it worked just fine in Prologue as I remember a lot of people complaining on this very site that people were abusing that technique to bolster their times unfairly."

If you owned the game you wouldn't "remember people complaining"... you would just play the damn game and say "I see it all the time."

But alas, you're a liar, typical of the internet.
