Sure, Atlus may have had good news for its Vita-owning and fighting game-playing constituents, but what about the 3DS owners?! Where's the love for them?! It's right here, because they've just announced that dungeon cartography game Etrian Odyssey IV will be on the DS-Triple in July. Actually, the game was announced quite some time ago (even before Devil Survivor Overclocked), but we now know its full name: Etrian Odyssey IV: The Legendary Giant.
In addition to the full name, Famitsu revealed that key staffers will return, including Director Daisuke Kaneda, background artist Nizou Yamamoto, monster designer Shin Nasagawa, sound designer Yuzo Koshiro, and most importantly, character designer Yuji Himukai, who will doubtless provide much adorable character art for gamers to imagine being slaughtered by F.O.E.s (artist's impression below). Also, the game will for the first time be including adjustable difficulty settings for gamers who like mapping dungeons more than dying horribly in them.

As someone who has spent an embarrassing amount of time with EO1-3, I'm hoping for a "masochist" difficulty setting in addition to "normal" and "casual"... but "normal" will be fine.
@Bomber: His answer will probably be yes, but it's largely irrelevant since the characters are never visible except for some static portraits, and the real draw of the series is how fucking unforgiving it is. Anyone who picks up an EO game just for the character art is likely to put it back down very, very quickly.
Plus, you build the party yourself, and you've got all those classes to choose from with 4 portraits apiece (adult man/woman and *ahem* young man/woman). So whether it is or isn't has more to do with the individual player's, erm, predilections, I think.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, here's some Famitsu scans for the game. Shows off some of the new character and monster designs, as well as some of the environments.
