Eternity's Child moved to the Wii

     DO WANT

Eternity's Child was originally announced last year as an XBLA title, but it seems that size restrictions have actually pushed the title onto the Wii, which I'm sure pleased UK based creator Luc Bernard to no end. He has also mentioned plans to design a DS version of the title, which would be very different from the Wii release but related by name and concept. The Wii version will mostly use classic controls and little use of the motion control functions of the remote.

This new style of 2D platformers is absolutely amazing and should whet the palates of fans of titles such as Castle Crashers and Odin's Sphere. It's the best of retro style and current art blended into one. I truly hope we get to see more titles like this in the near future, as they are pushing the envelope on making games to remember. It's not too often you get to play an angel orphan who cut off his own wings to save angel children from a massacre.

Hit the jump for pics and a video.

I am sold. Tell me where to buy it, and for how much.

P.S. the sooner the better.

What concerns me most here is that on XBL in the UK this title would have probably have sold for around £7 (correct me if I'm wrong on that one folks) but it will likely retail on the Wii at around £39.99 (£29.99 if we're very lucky). We need to start seeing budget releases. Like £9.99 if XBLA games are gonna come to the Wii as "full" titles.

Well I'd say I'm excited, but...

The only problem I see with this is the obvious one, releasing short arcade titles stretched out way too long, overpriced and overhyped. Though the market for the wii is much more casual, I do find myself wishing they would do more with the system than XBLA ports and party minigames.

It still looks very much like a XBLA game to me. Serious polishing or a budget price will be needed to persuade me I'm afraid.

There's no way I'd buy this as a retail game, but I'd have loved it on XBLA. Really doesn't look worth buying as a physical disc-based game, even at a budget retail price. Shame it's gone to the Wii.

As pointed out [url=http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Necros/former-xbla-game-moves-to-wii-looks-cool-43426.phtml]here, the DS game will actually be a 3D prequel for some reason. Not sure why they want to do 3D on DS, even if it can do it.

I wonder how many other games XLBA is going to lose because of there game restrictions.

I wonder if it'll be a Wiiware title. I sure hope so, cuz there's no way in hell I'd pay more than $10 for it. Actually, at this point, it doesn't look all that great. I love the style and Flash-type animation, but it needs more.

Yeah, looks a bit too dodgey even for the Wii. HA! I kid. I love my Wii.

Anyway, anyone else get a strong Beatlejuice vibe from this?

I'm loving the retro trend, but this is a less than stellar example of it, at least from what this video shows.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited for 2D to make a comeback myself, but compare that gameplay to Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World for eg., and I can see how people would be skeptical of this. Hopefully it plays better than it looks and there will be enough content to justify not making it a download...

Yeeeah, that gameplay looks like garbage. Epic soundtrack and pretty, but meh. Also that size limit is a retarded issue. They never should have released a 360 that came without a hard drive.

I agree with Wedge on this one. I think it looks very buggy and boring. Some of you must be having serious 2D platformer withdrawals or something.

Will this really sell on the Wii without waggle?

Will anything other than Brawl sell without waggle?

Correction, will anything other than Brawl sell without -requiring- waggle, since Brawl includes it as an option.

Love the music and backgrounds, not quite sold on the character design and animation. If those can be tightened up a bit and assuming the game is fairly lengthy, this could be a very nice $20 budget title.

This does indeed bring back memories -- of when 90% of platform games sucked horribly. The Wii can have this one.

*deanhatescoffee: "I wonder if it'll be a Wiiware title."

Nothing says Wiiware like "size restrictions", eh?
