When we last heard from our old friend Luc Bernard, the outspoken designer announced that he was leaving the games industry for less stressful pastures. However, and perhaps unsurprisingly, it would seem that Bernard can't keep away, and an Eternity's Child 2 is going to happen.
Eternity's Child 2: Retro Child comes from a canceled GBA version of the game which is apparently going to be released to cash in from the retrocentric love sparked by Mega Man 9. Bernard says the game will head to WiiWare and is slated for a mid 2009 release.
The game will feature play control using the Wii Remote held sideways like an NES controller. There will be all new flying/gliding moves for Angel, 2-player cooperative mode, the ability to take control of a whole host of interesting vehicles and different endings depending on how many of the winged creatures you save along the way throughout your adventure.
Bernard, who is currently working on a cartoon series, will return to game making as the producer and artist for Retro Child. He also states that the WiiWare release of Eternity's Child is being delayed, but will return with an extra challenge mode. The game should be ready by the end of the year.
What review score do you think Retro Child will receive?
Oh, man, maybe a bad review of this will drive him to trying crack and bitching on a message board!
Welp, that alcoholism was easily conquered. Most people need rehab or something.
Unless he was just throwing a hissy fit. Not that anyone would do such a thing on the internet.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!
Oh god I love life.
Gafaw
I can't stop smiling. 2009 is gonna be a great year.
Eternity's Child 3: Luc Bernard is little more than a Child
I guarantee it'll score better than 1
First, let us see the game. Please let us be sensible.
What? No "I wish I knew how to quit you" reference? A missed opportunity, my friend.
EC1 obviously sold enough copies to warrant any type of sequel. Damn.
Luc Bernard Won, LOL. None of you is going to admit it though, LMAO.
I predict that I will declair Luc Bernard as "the gift that keeps on giving" very soon.
So, when will Luc be coming back?
@kevekevblazini: Why not? It isn't as though somehow Luc "winning" equates in any way to us "losing." If he's made enough money to continue on to do another game, good for him. If it winds up being a good game, good for all of us.
I hope this means he hasn't abandoned graphic novels, though.
I really hope the game is good. I haven't played the game really but I dig the art style, so it would be pretty cool if he could make a good, polished game this time around. He has a lot of potential and I hope he's learned from his mistakes, both in game development and PR.

Things that Luc Bernard has won at:
Drinking
Trolling the internet
Making excuses
Throwing temper tantrums
Making sub-par games
Releasing unfinished products
Bad-Mouthing websites that give honest reviews.
Quitting
Not being able to quit
Shifting blame
Things that Luc Bernard does not win at:
Life, Succeeding, and making video games.
This is good news. Win or fail, the one sure thing is that a good time will be had by all. ^_^
Wakka Wakka Wakka
His character design looks like it's ripped off from Woodruff and the Schnibble.
i sure hope he got a new programmer. i wonder if the other guy still works with him, you know, after luc blamed all his problems on him last time.
I had really hoped that he'd fucked off for good. Well, let's get the noose and wait for the shitstorm to arrive.
He should take a closer look at this part of the code next time:
if (buttonpressed == 'A')
{
int success = rand(0,2);
if(success < 1)
{
player.jump();
}
else
{
player.wutwut();
}
}
I do have hope for this new game, hopefully hes learned from he past and doesn't release the unfinished project like the first game. Send him a copy of Aero the Acro-bat 2 and tell him to make it like that and it'll be worth it. (Hopefully)
He stated when he first said he'd quit that it wouldn't be until after Eternity's Child 2 and 3 were made. We have another two of these to look forward to.
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
You can't make this shit up. Truth is stranger than fiction
Mr Destructoid confirmed for EC2.

Wow.. I have learned something today.. I didn't know his formula for success 'til now.
wat
Mr Dtoid as final boss for EC2 :O!!!!
Mr. Destructoid confirmed for EC2, but only so he can be taken back out again.
Retro-style only work with games that can draw from that retro-styling of their past games, making up a retro version is going about it the wrong way.
Easy on the guy. He's an artist, not a programmer, and the art to Eternity's Child looks great. No need to all gang up on him.
"...and all thanks to a site that is populated by people who find it impossible to form coherent sentences without resorting to expletives." - Quote WiiWare World about Dtoid's community bashing of Luc Bernard. Do you guys really wanna be that?
How many people downloaded and played the first game? Give the new game a chance before you gang-decapitate it.
Glad to see Luc back, but Alten8 should reprogram that game in porting if it's as bad as the review says...
The title of this post wins.
Hahah oh wow.
my goal is to get a 0 out of 10
btw guys do read well the news really because im not on it full time either just really part time
Luc is not working on this title directly only story game design and concept art.
since i am now working on cartoons, it kind of sucks that youre going to get more EC than you thought you would lol just don't try to watch too many cartoon channels next year or you might have the displeasure to have your eyes burned by watching one
bring on the f word lol
I find everything about this ironic.. Or am I the only one.
And whatever rating your guess is as good as mine.. But, I played the demo (for the record) and I wouldn't purchase it, sorry Luc.
"There's no business like show biz.."
"There's no such a thing as bad press, except no press.." or something..
Wow. Amazing.
I am a Luc Bernard fangirl. <3
It looks and sounds really good. Seriously.
Fuck, Luc. I don't think we had a fucking problem with your art, which we pretty much unanimously fucking thought was fucking good. We had a fucking problem with your fucking game playing pretty fucking badly. No hard fucking feelings. Keep on fucking doing art, because I think you're pretty fucking good at it. lol
Start the hype train! Everyone aboard!
Luc seems pretty centered right now. Nice to see he got over the Depression, Alcoholism and Critism.
Fuck you Luc but only because you litterally (and sortof by making the game shit) asked for it.
as Sir Leader of Pugs Luc Bernard needs to show well gametunnel had this to say about EC1
Despite what some may have said, EC certainly isn't the disaster it is made out to be, not by a long shot. However, it feels like it is brushing up against greatness only to have its wings burned and that makes the short-comings feel all the more painful.
bam bam bammmmmmmmmm :P and its the biggest indie review site
oki it got a 6.3 but hey its better than what dtoid gave it
Hey come on kids you must be happy, you got into GamesTM and well the WHOLE FUCKING INDUSTRY saw what happened
But yes I am going to tell you my secret, I actually plan to kidnap maybe a few of you and torture you by making you play EC2 for hours, it will be so painful that you will probably die
actually the USA republicain party has contacted me to use the game in Irak to torture terrorists
but now for some shameless PR well EC2 is handled by different people so it's a different game and the inspiration behind it is Goemon 2 on SNES
Destructoid is going to need to change up the review scale to make room for a low enough score to rate this game.
Bahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Maybe it'll be as good as Too Human. Maybe.
In before another shitstorm :)
@Luc
oh hey how's it goin? Seriously, Eternitys Child 1 is not on WiiWare yet. So why are you making Eternitys Child 2?
Luc you were more funny when you were drunk and whiny :(
THIS SHIT GOONA BE SO CASH
Man, Luc should really fuck off.
Luc Bernard lol is an unfunny troll. lol
