The Entertainment Software Ratings Board leaves very little to the imagination these days, regularly leaking the juicy, sordid details of every game that passes through its doors. The latest title to be thrown naked at our feet, is Dragon Age: Origins. We all know by now that the game is chock-full of rampant sex, but if you want to know just how sexy BioWare's upcoming RPG is, well then look no further.
"Players can also initiate brief cutscene sequences in which couples (male and female or same sex couples) can be depicted kissing, embracing, and caressing one another as the screen fades to black," states the ESRB, disgustingly. "During the course of the game, players are able to visit a brothel where a hostess asks what they are interested in. If players select ‘Surprise me,’ they can sometimes wind up face-to-face with a woman, a man, a transsexual, or an animal; sexual activity is never depicted during these brothel encounters."
As you can see from the bolded parts (which I'm sure you had no trouble finding on your own), the ESRB has essentially confirmed traps and bestiality in Dragon Age: Origins. It actually sounds like a rather funny moment, which the ESRB has unfortunately now spoiled, but nevertheless I'm sure the delivery will still provide a smirk.
As with Mass Effect, it's great to see that players can impose their own sexual preferences on the game's lead character (at least for the more serious sexual moments). The choice to sleep with a man or a woman, regardless of your character's gender, is something I will always respect BioWare for including.
Also, having almost finished the prequel book for Dragon Age, I must confess that I really, really cannot wait to play Origins, making it the first BioWare game I've ever been hyped for.
Dragon Age: Origins
Platform: Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Rating: Mature
Content descriptors: Blood, Intense Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content
Rating summary: This is a role-playing game (RPG) in which players control a group of mythical warriors through missions and battles in the ravaged lands of Ferelden. The combat system in the game is similar to other third-person role-playing games where the user does not usually have direct control over combat moves. Instead, players select a target (e.g., soldier, stone golem, dragon, bear, etc.) and an action (e.g., "attack," "kill," and magic spells), then watch as the game executes the move. Players use swords, axes, knives, and magic to attack enemies that react to damage by emitting splashes of red blood; pools of blood are occasionally depicted near dead bodies as well. The most intense instances of violence occur when players have the option to kill non-combatant civilians: A prisoner can be stabbed to death in order to steal a key; a merchant who overcharges refugees can be slashed in the throat; and a boy possessed by an evil demon can be killed off-screen. During the course of the game, players are able to visit a brothel where a hostess asks what they are interested in. If players select "Surprise me," they can sometimes wind up face-to-face with a woman, a man, a transsexual, or an animal; sexual activity is never depicted during these brothel encounters. Players can also initiate brief cutscene sequences in which couples (male and female or same sex couples) can be depicted kissing, embracing, and caressing one another as the screen fades to black. Though the game never features human nudity, one female demon character is briefly depicted with bare breasts. Some profanity (e.g., "sh*t," "b*tch," and "a*s") can be heard in the dialogue.
I hope this game is a smashing success. Bioware is brave.
america needs a new rating system, the one we have is ran by a bunch of freedom of expression hating senators that just want total control of what is acceptable. fight the power! can't have rape in a game, can't have america citizens overthrowing the government, can't have a terrorist game, can't have a game where the american army is getting beaten down by the player, can't have a game where the player is torturing anyone white or black. can't have a game based on a new american revolution. if you think the government don't have control of content it games, please reread what i just typed.
If you felt you had to put the book down, I wouldn't advise you pick it up again. That said, some of the later chapters, like those involving the Usurper, are pretty fun.
Not completely. You could only do Boy/Girl, and Girl/Girl. I had to listen to all of Kaiden's whiny shit just to see if maybe, just maybe he would get with Shepard. And what do I get for all my patience but a frigid "bromance". Except for the way the cut scene starts when you begin to talk to Kaiden on the Normandy. Those looks they exchange are filled with boy on boy longing.
