ESRB lists PSP games for PlayStation certified devices photo

The Electronics Software Ratings Board has listed a bunch of PSP games for PlayStation Certified Devices, which would include Sony tablets and the Xperia line of phones. PlayStation LifeStyle says that Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Daxter and fl0w have been rated by the ESRB so far. I'd bet more are coming down the line.

It's a start, but a really slow start for for the certified devices program, which I bet is going to have a really hard time getting off the ground. A handful of PSP games probably isn't going to cut it. Now, launching a larger library with full Android compatibility would be huge.

I find it really odd that Sony isn't opening the games to all Android devices. You consider that the games are on a limited number of devices (Sony devices) and not every owner of these devices will be interested in these games, you're looking at a pretty limited market and fewer sales. Perhaps Sony knows or sees something I don't, but it seems like they're really limiting themselves.

Are we still gonna get PSP HD remasters or should I just give up and buy a stupid PSP?

Sometimes I feel like Sony is trying to reinvent the wheel while the rest of us are already buying hovercars. If full Android compatibility were on the table, they'd be onto something, but as it stands I just can't see these kinds of devices selling when the rest of the market is moving at lightspeed.

Here's to hoping Sony shits, or gets off the pot.

I'm curious as to why Sony thinks this would give them any sort of edge. As others have said, expanding to Android would at least give them a greater chance at getting something out of this.

Oh, right. Sony's fixation on the proprietary.

Sometimes I just feel sorry for the games division at Sony and even the tech divisions, because its just unfathomable that they're the ones making blockheaded choices. Idiocy like this comes straight from the top.

I actually find the Playstation certification on the tablet S appealing but I'm not buying anything Sony until they actually price their products competitively here in Mexico. The 16GB version is approximately USD$530 over here whereas in the U.S. the price already dropped to USD$400.

But doesn't it seem safe to say that this could only be a trial period, and that they could very well blow the door open on it, if it takes off?

Sony's got a fine way of screwing things like this up (*cough* PSPgo *cough*) and I'm sure they're not willing to jump head first into something like this, in -for them- an unknown market.

@BrowneyeWinkin

honestly, should probably buy a Vita.. PSP support probably won't be all that far off, and you won't miss out on Vita's games.
