ESRB lists Guitar Hero: World Tour for PC photo

And here I thought that the ESRB database might have started to lose its luster as a place to sniff out unannounced games. I guess it isn’t going out of style yet, as a recent inspection discovered that a PC version had been added to the Guitar Hero: World Tour entry.

This might not be a huge shocker, as Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock had a PC version too, but it’s still reassuring news for gamers that might not have a console to rock out on. Maybe it’ll also get those fancy smancy third-party instruments Nick talked about earlier today.

While the folks at GameCyte made a few inquires to try and determine who was developing the PC version, they hit a dead end when Activision refused to acknowledge its “not been announced yet” existence. My money would be on Aspyr Media, seeing as how they handled the aforementioned PC version of Guitar Hero III.

Speaking of Guitar Hero III on the PC, for those of you that owned it, were there any particularly noteworthy mods or user generated content that we might expect to see for World Tour?

I don't understand why anyone would want to buy this on the PC. I guess if you don't have a console, but I wouldn't be surprised if the system requirements were ridiculous for how simple it is.

I tried GH3 on a very fast PC and it was very laggy, so I wouldn't hold my breath about this.

Core 2 Duo (2.16GHz), 512 Nvidia 7950 GTX (512mb), 4GB RAM (I know, I know) GH3 runs very nicely. But PC owners of GH3 need more DLC love </3

But, this? Sure, I'll get it.

World Tour...on my PC?!

Yes please. :D

Why? Simple.

Search YouTube for a song you may like and type "guitar hero 3" next to the name. Notice something? The PC version of GHIII is the simpler to mod than the PS2 version...cause...of course, it's the PC. You can mod things easier on a PC than anything else to be honest.

Now imagine World Tour...sure there will be more work involved to mod, but think about it.

Zeppelin. Full band. You could play any song you like...full band....that is if the mods coming out are top notch.

I, for one, am thrill about this news. I already have my dream setlist nice and ready for launch. Now...once World Tour comes out...I have to wait for people to mod the songs. lol.

You know whats really, really frustrating? Harmonix may be better at making a music game, but Activision is infinitely better than whatever shit publisher Harmonix have. They put this one on pc too (which is awesome), and itll probably come to new zealand within 6 months... unlike rockband which has taken well over a year just to get a release date... WHICH IS AFTER ROCKBAND 2 IS RELEASED, FFS!

Yeah, this is great news! Just hook it up to your tv and play ANY song after a week/month or so. Music creator mode + modding/hacking GH4 = no need for DLC.

I just got guitar hero III for pc a few days ago and I am having awesome results.
I am running an AMD 64x2 6000+ (3.2ghz), 1.5 GB ram, intergrated raedon 1200 512mb, on a ECS amd690mt board.

Though my video controller is a bit under sized I can still play in low resoloution and it is not laggy at all. I am sure with a better video controller I could play it in high res. I would suggest to any one who is playing this on pc to exit all other programs especially desktop search engines and virus scanners.

I am running an Intel® Core™2 Duo E6750 (2.66Ghz), 4GB OCZ DDR31066 RAM, ATi Radeon HD 2900 Pro (512mb GDDR3), on an ASUS P5K Premium Black Pearl/WI-FI-AP Edition mainboard.

It's a very "middle of the road" system that I built myself and Guitar Hero 3 runs perfectly on it both online and offline, graphically I find it quite superior to the console versions, and for those of you with decent system that are having lag issues, there are in-game settings to correct that. On a sour note, the X-plorer guitar that comes with the PC version of the game kind of sucks, but have no worries, you too can have the sweet wireless Les Paul with the collapsable neck and interchangeable faceplates, All you need is a $29 Xbox to PC wireless gaming adapter, it won't say on the package that the guitar is supported, but I took the risk and it works flawlessly.

There is no doubt that there is a huge PC/Console debate.
And with the newer consoles becoming more of a media center rather than strictly a gaming platform, sadly I wonder how much longer good new games that start in the console market will be available for PC in the future.

Regardless of this, There are alot of us old school PC gamers out there, and it is very cool indeed to see these types of games that challenge the way we game and think about gaming coming full circle back to PC. I mean after all, They didn't program GH3 on an Xbox or a PS3.

(-.O) *N*

Oh, and some other interesting news I have recently read on the subject. The ESRB website is appearing to indicate that Neversoft's new multi-instrument title Guitar Hero:World Tour, just might be coming to PC also. Although Activision at this point does not have a proper answer to the burning question.. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and getting ready to wail on the sweet new drum set!!
