The gameplay looked decent, albeit a bit early. Looked very Devil May Cry-ish
And the new games visual style is fantastic.
Stop acting like elitist pricks and wait until the game comes out before you judge it.
I don't think it's the visual style OR the fact that it's a prequel-that stuff intrigues me, quite frankly. :P And again, we even saw a smidge of white-hair Dante in the release trailer. I think what people are complaining about is basically this:
Dante's CHARACTER MODEL, meaning his face and whatnot, is radically different and looks like Tameem Antoniades of Ninja Theory himself, which some people thought was sort of strange. It's strange how much facial recognition plays into a person or even a character being familiar, yes? But still, that's why I, for one, am uncomfortable. Hair and clothes, who cares, it's the fact that he looks like Mr. Antoniades meets a drugged Robert Pattinson that bugs me. But onto more important things.
The game looks slower. Seriously. Maybe we're spoiled from Bayonetta, but fights seem to be slower paced in some sections. Still time to fix it though.
With this "angel" angel, they're retconning a LOT of established DMC backstory. And in a prequel, that can be iffy territory. THAT'S why people are bothered at this "start."
And as others said, it evokes a DMC2 feel, which of course was not garbage as some argue, but definately below par of the rest of the series. Anyways, with stuff like this, isn't it a bit easy to see why some fans are uncomfortable?
I'll be buying DmC. I love this series. I'll pass final judgement when the end credits roll. But until then, I think I'm allowed to be a but uncomfortable given they're taking fans out of their established cannon comfort zones.
[well damn that was a wall of text. my bad.]
I still can't see why they couldn't have made this game without riding on the back of a established franchise.
