It might seem obvious to intelligent people that a parent should check the age ratings on videogames if that parent doesn't want his or her child to be playing mature titles, but as I've said in the past, the majority of breeders are like most people -- stupid. Fortunately, Idaho's Attorney General is here to save the day, partnering with the ESRB to produce the above TV spot. Now our children will finally be safe from all that pretend violence and can watch something without any violent content, like Tom & Jerry cartoons ... oh wait.

While it's sad that society needs such an obvious commercial, at least it's a positive step forward in the education of stupid parents the world over. Whether those spawners actually pay attention, however, is another matter.  In the meantime, let's all sit back and watch Lawrence Wasden as he shows us what videogame cases look like.

Man, that's a cringeworthy commercial.

Yep - those Looney Toons, man, what a paragon of pacifism and peaceful resolution of conflict. Just as long as they're only dropping heavy objects on people or throwing them into fires or trying to boil them alive or firing old Western six-guns at them - you know, stuff that doesn't involve BLOOD - it's just good wholesome entertainment.

Jesus, adults are so fucking stupid.

The commercial isn't that bad - it just sucks that, as you said, the obvious is obviously not so obvious to these obvious idiots. WHAM.

OK thats it! When I have kids its going to be Doom 3, Clive Barker's Jehricho and Contra all the way just so I don't have to comply with that toss-spoon.

Why poke fun at the government and the ESRB teaming up?? At least they're trying. It's better then anything everyone else is doing.

I like that they're doing something. Doesn't stop that something being a bit lame.

I like the active parent, is not like "uhh... i pay my taxes let the goverment handle it", thats ridiculous. The man is only saying for you to know what the f*** is a ESRB and what your kids are playing.

Where the hell was Captain Obvious on that one?!? I guess at least they are raising some awareness to what has been there for a while.

At least they're trying. Maybe mothers around the country can stop banging the gardener for 30 seconds and watch this.

I can't wait until today's gamers grow up to have kids, because everyone will understand the rating system as well as they do the movie rating system and we won't have stupid politicians in Washington complaining about confusion.
