Escape Goat 2 released as Tim Schafer tries to take credit

4:30 PM on 03.24.2014

Are you ready to laugh? Double Fine has released this video to promote the launch of Escape Goat 2 today on Windows, Mac and Linux PCs, and I suspect it's the funniest thing I'm going to see today. Watch what happens when Tim Schafer mistakes the developers of Escape Goat 2, MagicalBeanTime, for burglars and unleashes some street justice before attempting to steal all the glory from their work.

As many good ones do, the joke arises out of reality. MagicalBeanTime completed the final weeks of development on Escape Goat 2 using a spare office at Double Fine headquarters.

Even if you don't give a whit about this really fun and strange puzzle-platform game, that's a damned funny ad. And if you do care, you can pick it up from Steam, Humble or GOG.com this week for 10% off the regular price of $9.99.

Review: Escape Goat 2

Escape Goat 2 is not a goat simulator. No, this is another goat game. I know it’s confusing. Sometimes two seemingly identical properties come out of nowhere. Armageddon came out two months after Deep Impact, moviegoers...more

Here's some music from Escape Goat 2's forest area

Escape Goat 2 looks better each time I see it. I got some new hands-on at GDC Next in Los Angeles where I caught a glimpse of the beautiful new forest and cathedral areas as well as got to hear some work-in-progress music, w...more

PAX Prime 2013's PAX 10 games have been announced

One of my favorite parts about PAX Prime since 2008 has been the PAX 10 indie game showcase. Over 100 games were submitted to be judged upon by a panel of experts, and the following ten games have been declared the best of th...more

Escape Goat 2 goes Metroidvania with new map system

While the unique puzzles and platforming featured in the original Escape Goat made me a fan, the new map system being introduced in Escape Goat 2 immediately had me thinking of the 2D handheld Castlevania games. Rooms are now...more

Escape Goat 2 opting to release on PC first this time

When you find a gem of a title on the Xbox Live Indie Games platform and it doesn't heavily feature Avatars or have some manner of crafting (all but guaranteeing a spot on the best-sellers list), the first thing you want to s...more

Shovel Knight looks great in 16-bit, Aegis Defenders just looks great

Oh my goooddd. How did I miss this until now? It's like a Nausicaa game. Thank you sir Shovel Knight for making a cross over appearance (above) in Aegis Defenders, which is how it came to my attention.  The Kickstarter already passed its initial funding goal and its PS4 stretch goal. Local co-op and a Wii U version are up next. Here's hoping. This looks amazing. more

Stick it to the Man is on Xbox One as of today

Stick it to the Man managed to do something that rarely any other game on the market does these days -- make me laugh. Billed as a "comedic platformer," Stick it is now available on the Xbox One for $9.99. Develope...more
