Well I am picking up my copy on lunch and hope I can get in tonight, still looking at Torchlight 2 after I beat Diablo and get bored :P
THIS is why Diablo 3 won't be remembered nor played for years, just like Amy and Amy was fucking bad.
Even Witcher 2 had day 1 issues and it wasn't nearly as ambitious with its online integration. There are very good reasons for the SP being hosted online, mainly having to do with the ability to still use the auction house and have everything be secure.
These issues will be fixed soon and it will emerge as the top RPG of the decade. They spent too much time and money for any other outcome. Cartoony, simplistic Torchlight can't compete. Torchlight is not Diablo competition, it is Fate competition.

I don't think anyone said you couldn't like both, but considering if I were to get this I'd definitely be playing the SP and there would be a possibility I wouldn't be able to do that with having to be connected all the time.
I don't think I'm going to have to worry about that when it comes to Torchlight II. :)

Given how many times this morning at 3amEST I was ctrl-ving my password, we as players probably created a distrubted DOS attack. Still went to bed unsatisfied like a lonely housewife though.

I knew it would happen, but it's a pretty stupid problem to have. They had beta tests, they had relative idea of demand, and yet they still didn't plan it right, even worse they decided to turn on servers for the whole country at once, which was really fucking stupid and entirely preventable.
More broken DRM, that what you get for 60 dollars these days a unplayable game. If there was a Offline mode for single player then people would have a work around butt noooo!.
Went to the midnight launch with a friend but didn't pick up a copy after the DRM talk and known errors. Will get further down the road when things are bit more stable.

Torchlight 2 is probably going to be pre-ordered tonight when I get off of work >.>. Played the demo for the original Torchlight, was quite fun.

Sucks but eh, they'll work it out. This always online thing though, that kind of needs to stop, specially for predominately single player games.

If they had any sense about them they would release a single-player only, offline version. No worries about hacks, or cheats, because it's only single player. Hell I'd even pay full-price for tha--Hmm, nah, maybe 20 bucks off would be nice, it would be cheaper for them in the long run, since they wouldn't have to maintain the servers for this version. Online players would have their version, offline players would have theirs. Pirates would crack it, sure, but me and a buttload of other people I'm sure would buy it legit just because it's Blizzard. Make things right, Blizzard, you know what to do.
I hope this all gets ironed out by the time I get home tonight. Well, not that its going to happen but I hope I am able to skate by unscathed. I wanted to play a demon hunter too.

Games not working when I buy them, and the inconvenience of all the anti-consumer practices the game industry has embraced these last few years has convinced me not to buy any more new games until I see an improvement.
That doesn't include indie game. I've found more engaging experiences in low to no budget indies then I have with almost any AAA game to this year. I've also been able to buy more games this year then I've been able to in a long time buying indies.

The only reason Blizzard killed offline and LAN play, and force online verification, is to secure their new for-profit auction. They'll make a 15% killing by doing absolutely nothing. There is no other reason.

Torchlight works in Steam offline mode? They have must changed that.
And I bought Torchlight, I pre-bought Torchlight II, and I bought Diablo III. It's nice to have a job and be able to afford games that I want to play :D

Sorry about that. Totally with you on, Diablo III seems designed to be profit-friendly not player-friendly. Cutting out modding is related to that, too, I think. They want you to have to pay for any new content.

In related news; I see that there are now at least 2 bot/hack programs for Diablo III working with varying degrees of success.
So all of that talk of this online-only DRM saving the game from cheaters who ruin things for everyone else is already right out the fucking window.
Of course it's a cat and mouse game and of course there will be a wave of bans followed by new versions of the bots/hacks but the point is that paying customers who just want to play offline single player are now getting team-fucked at both ends.
