...he didn't have anything to do with it.
Anyway, it's a shame it apparently did poorly, because it's a fantastic game. Nothing says fun like guiding a sniper rifle off course and right into someone's taint.
"Guy falls down"
Lead character: " Is your penis ok?!?"
Good to see Epic aren't throwing PCF out those, most publishers would not look at you again if you don't make 500% profit.
Now that Epic has bought out the dev studio and forced them to make crap like bulletstorm, I dont have much hope about what future games they make. That is unless Serious Sam BFE sell very well and epic tells PCF to jump on the bandwagan. Itll probably still be crap though.
Ild bet money that BS still turned a profit for Epic but been the console fatcats they are anything that inst an ultra success is a failure to them.
I can only wonder what we can expect more of from now on.
Like VGFreak1225 said, hopefully it gets a sequel. I think it deserves it.
Please, I implore you, look again. Bulletstorm is a parody game, it's stupid, its protagonist is lovably dickish. You're supposed to think he is stupid, he is the butt of jokes, not the creator of them.
@article: bulletstorm was fun as hell. So was shadows of the damned. Fucking gamers. Hey let's all bitch about CoD now or ports or hd remakes. But don't anyone buy original games that do something different. Asshats.
Try not to fuck that up again or talk shit about the ppl who got you where you are today mmkay?
I do remember it dropped to about $40 bones in March(GameIndustry.biz reported about 270,000 copies sold by March). Should've taken it as an indicator that it wasn't doing so hot. Pre-Order interest was on the low side too
Who needs innovation in any genre these days? This industry is honestly a black hole. It'll only get worse before it gets better.
The ridiculous marketing didn't really help either in my opinion. I'm not going to pick up a game where the best insult to be heard is "dicktits".
Cliffy B hate comments coming from someone with a Final Fantasy XIII avatar is pretty hilarious.
Like Corduroy Turtle said, I think their marketing killed it.
I am really disappointed at gamers if Bulletstorm did not sell well, it is absolute BS.
I will be supporting People Can Fly with their next effort even if most gamers today would rather buy the same Madden or same Call of Duty game every year. Pathetic.
But I hope this first doesnt discourage them from another one.
That being said, I very much doubt this game tanked. I remember it selling a decent amount of copies at launch. Bit of a mistake to launch against KillZone 3, though, since they both have the same target audience.
Could he have meant that it didn't make any money for Epic? Since they were kind of .. hell, I don't even know what kind of work they did on BulletStorm. All I know is that they weren't the lead developers.
Seriously, though, it was marketed as silly, shallow, and brainless. I was surprised when it turned out to have a plot. Maybe that was a mistake?
In retrospect, it's partly my fault for buying it so early. I would have handled the disappointments far better if I had paid $20 instead of $60.
