Well, it's not like there was any competition. I mean certainly Kirby's Epic Yarn is worse that ... say...the Wii version of NfS:HP or Sonic Free Riders.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - but when you get paid to give an opinion, it should probably be an educated one.
Good lord. There were some bad games put out this year. EW has clearly demonstrated that it knows how to troll.

I was about to be terribly upset about this, but then I realized that it's Entertainment Weekly. Nobody intelligent or worthwhile reads that shit anyway.
Jim, when you criticize games (even the ones i like) i see reason for your dislikes. Even if what bothers you doesn't bother me, i know how some little things can ruin the experience for some, like the linearity of CoD games doesn't click with me. And i don't think the game is BAD for this reason. It's just something I don't LIKE.
It's different from a game like inFamous who doesn't delivers what it promises - not being a super-hero is not what's written on the back of the box.

I am willing to bet the guy who wrote that article considers himself a "hardcore gamer". His gaming library consists of nothing but Halo, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto remakes. Playing only FPS' or Sandbox Crime Simulators doesn't make you a true gamer. It makes you an angsty teenager stuck in an adult's body, living out your adolescent fantasies. And people like that give the industry a bad name, walking into GameStop touting their best kill streak on Call of Duty but denouncing the Wii because it is for "little kids".
Kirby's Epic Yarn did something wonderful stylistically. Just because Kirby doesn't turn into Rambo and splatter the screen with Waddle-Dee guts doesn't mean it is a bad game. It means you are an adolescent pinhead who lacks the brainpower to appreciate something that doesn't involve shooting your friends with an M-16.

Too gory games drive me away. Things like splatterhouse feel juvenil. I'm the Street/King of fighter(s) guy that never like Mortal Kombat. In the same way is acceptable some people think that endless cuteness is disgusting. Being the hardcore gamers that you are, you probably don't believe but... there always two sides.

I didn't know an opinion could be wrong until now.
Personally, my worst game of the year would have to be Castlevania Lords of Shadow, followed by Metroid Other M. I'm currently playing FFXIII, and that is looking to possibly take the crown from Castlevania (although I doubt I will play much more of it). Keep in mind those are the worst out of the games I played, not necessarily the worst overall (since I try not to play games that I already know will be bad).

I have yet to play epic yarn, but this stinks of bullshit to me.
Also, I am playing through Other M right now. I'm going to go against the grain of destructoid and say it's one of my favorite games of this year.

Opinions usually cannot be wrong, but this one definitely is because the only reasoning I have seen that is more insane or twisted comes from political pundits.

I just imagined a gritty reimagining of Kirby filled with hues of browns and greys. Kirby has a mullet. This game is filled with zombies,hookers, swearing and epics car chases. It sounds like GOTY material to me.
It is a pretty retarded reason, too cute. Does EWs opinion ultimately matter. When I'm looking to research a game I'm considering purchasing they're not a place I look at. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know they had anything to do with games. Although these days who doesn't?
I think I want to invent a (positive) category for Vanquish to get some recognition in.
Maybe best rocket sliding game or best use of cigarettes. I started replaying it and just don't understand why people didn't connect. But like the author if this post said - everyones entitled to their own opinion.
