People say all the time that we're preventing creativity in the industry by buying Call of Duty and Guitar Hero games year after year. I think the real problem isn't that we're buying the rehashed games, but that we AREN'T buying the games that try to do something even marginally different.
1. Didnt recent Guitar Hero games sell pretty poorly actually?
2. Didnt you guys need to buy a copy of K&L2 for the review?
3. Is 460k copies really that bad for a original Ip? I mean the Armored Core franchise never went higher than 400k for any of its games and that series has like 13 installments as of now.
Shit is fucked.
Every fucker whines when elements of sequels get changed aswell. There really is no pleasing anyone.
A lot of people only want innovation on their terms. Change to much of an existing franchise or create a new one and most people just aren't interested.
Some people have no taste for greatness.
You should tell Dale North to play this game, just tell him that one of the characters is some angsty Japanese teenage boy who has mystical powers he doesnt understand. Who also speaks to a magic floating cat that only he can see. and the cat also has giant breasts.
Get over yourselves. Kayne and Lynch was not that bad. Maybe not worth $60 but not the worst game of the year by far. Go into a gamestop, close your eyes, spin around and point at the Wii games. Now open your eyes. That game is worse than Kayne and Lynch.
trolololololololo lololo trololololololololololo hahahahaha!
Seriously though. I don't care for either of those games. I must be Satan and Jesus combined.
Plus, probably the best music I've heard in a Western game outside of Diablo.
I am damn sad that Enslaved was outsold by such a game as Kane & Lynch 2. Not to mention flabbergasted. I know Enslaved didn't sell great and is seemingly hard to market to the trigger happy adrenaline-junkie that makes up a great degree of western gamers. But seriously, Kain & Lynch 2?
I've never played a Kane & Lynch game, though.
Seriously Kane and lynch 2 looked like such a halfass game I never bothered with it.
still in the case of enslaved it might be a case of karma coming back to bite them in the ass, they can't blame Sony or the ps3 this time can they. Heavenly sword broke the 2 million mark,as an exclusive to boot that's starting to look like high hopes for enslaved.
but that still doesn't explain Kain and lynch, every review I read said the same thing, broken boring uninspired garbage.
God dammit this is gonna encourage square enix to make more of this crap. Seriously who bought Kane and lynch?
( For the record I don't own enslaved as my backlog is full but I was under the impression it was doing alot better than that, definitely getting it now.)
Enslaved I haven't gotten to but Kane & Lynch 2 which admittedly I bought cheap drew me in because of it's co-op friendly ways. More games need co-op in their campaigns.
i dont think we can put all blame on the mainstream. The "hardcore" gamers (blogger/message boards) are really failing at this. Many discussions concerning this game devolve into proclaiming Enslaved horrible.
There is nothing horrible about the game. I can only recall one negative during the cave/boat level where sound synch was off key.
It seems all the Devil May Crybabies successfully managed to convince gamers that the game is shit.
Next you see gamers saying "im waiting for 20 dollars" etc. THE GAME WAS 25 dollars for freak sake!
Anyways, I still want to try Kane And Lynch 2, just because I enjoyed the demo so much. I've missed my chance on trying to pick it up for 5 bucks twice now (Both Steam Sales at the tail end of the year), so I guess I could just wait for a Spring Sale.
I never expected Enslaved to do well at all. You can't sell a game nobody knows fuck all about. 400k for shit marketing is a godsend. I'll have to pick it up myself sometime soon as well, as I also enjoyed the demo for that one.
I think that you have to consider something: K&L 2 went on sale at Steam for only $5. Also, it's a 3 platform title while Enslaved is on X360 and PS3 only.
