Enslaved demo hits North American PSN next week photo

Namco Bandai has confirmed that a demo for Ninja Theory's Enslaved will be hitting PlayStation Network next week in North America. If you're in Europe, though, you can download it right now; feel special, yeah?

The publisher says the demo will hit PSN on September 21, but we have a feeling it'll actually be on Monday, September 20. Why? Because that's when we hear the PS Store will update next week, due to a scheduled maintenance on Tuesday.

Those waiting for an Xbox 360 demo, just hang tight. Namco Bandai says one will be "coming soon." In the meantime, gaze upon the new images I've dumped in the gallery.

Haha.

Always have to reassure the 360 fans.

If it were coming out for 360 and not PS3, nothing would be said.

Hilarious.

Nice. I keep hearing good things about it (mostly on D-toid) but I'm not quite sold on it. Having the chance to try it out and see what all the fuss is about is welcome.

@What Up Xbros:

I don't say this often to those who comment, but you're an idiot.

@twe1ve5ifty1:

First 7 chapters of this game were great! We're really passionate about games here, and when we (as individual writers or the staff) find something we like, we'll not only spread the information but our enthusiasm as well. We're a blog, so expect to find that kind of "personality" in our pieces. I also didn't mention anything good (or bad) about Enslaved in this story; it's pretty straight forward!

@Ramalho:

Right, which is why I wrote in my article "If you're in Europe, though, you can download it right now; feel special, yeah?"

Anyone here in Euro get a chance to play the demo? I don't know what it consists of, but there are quite a few layers to the game. Even in the first half of it it's pretty broad and varied in gameplay; I can't imagine they'd touch on everything the game has to offer in the demo. But who knows?

The controls seem a little looser than I'd prefer, but I enjoyed the cinematic direction. If you like Uncharted and don't mind giving up the core shooting mechanics (though there is "shooting" still), this looks like it should be an interesting story wrapped around a decent game.

PS - If you live in the U.S. and don't have Japan and U.K. PSN accounts, go Google a tutorial and set some up, they're great to have around when demos hit other territories first, and totally free. You set up new profiles for each on your PS3 and 360, and then once you've downloaded whatever from the proper PSN Store, the demo can be launched from any of your profiles.

@Nick: The demo contains the full opening stage of the game, from Monkey's breakout to the planecrash. Not an ideal choice in my opinion, because that means it only introduces you to the basic gameplay mechanics, but doesn't demonstrate any deeper elements to them. Furthermore, since it only includes the slave ship, one of the game's apparent strong points, the impressive set pieces of post-apocalyptic America, is barely present, except in the trailer you get to see after the demo itself.

To be honest, I got a Prince of Persia vibe from it, with a strong, acrobatic male lead and a helpful female support heading in the direction of obvious romantic tension in the better-half of the plot... Game looks great, glad you guys are giving it some good coverage. Soon as I snag the demo this weekend I'll post my impressions :)

Oops, helps if I type the comment before submitting.

Dtoid got me interested in Enslaved and after trying out the demo it's my most anticipated game this year. My childhood obsession of the dubbed Monkey TV show may also have helped. Just hope the rest of the game delivers on what has been seen/said so far.

Good. I need it. I need to touch it with my hands to know I won't hate it once I play it. Because Heavenly Sword looked and sounded cool, but I hated it. It's like that with most action games. Hopefully Enslaved is different.

controls are a little sloppy, but im still looking forward to it.. i cant stand the character design for monkey, and trip looks like nariko's cousin..

but complaints aside.. im just happy that there are more non shooters coming out these days.. and the environments are beautiful..

I you own a PS3 and you don't have a EU, US and Japanese account, you're doing it wrong.

It's easy, do it. Get all the demos.

Hopefully won't have to wait too long for the 360 demo!
