OK, enough is enough. I can't take it anymore. Here's another God damned trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV, this time focusing on the game's central character, Niko Bellic. I'm tired of this trailer crap ... give me the damned game, already.
I know it's in stores, too. I spoke with some GameStop folks who said they received their shipments yesterday, and they're just sitting in their stock rooms collecting dust until April 29. I also know that if I were a shady character, I could toss on an eye patch and pirate the game. But I'm not an industry ruining monster, so I don't even have a unit I could play the damned thing on. (Hey, I won't judge if you do.)
I'm sitting here on Friday afternoon, staring outside my window for a FedEx or DHL or UPS truck to deliver my review copy of GTA IV. Nothing. I was told it would arrive (possibly) by this weekend, but as the day drags on, I'm starting to believe that's simply not happening. And then GameTrailers sends us a link to this video, as if to rub it in my face. I'm slipping those dudes some roofies at E3.
Seriously, I can't take this waiting for much longer. Why do Rockstar tease us like this?
I'm making such a piss poor effort on a programming task so I can get it finished by next week in order to play GTA IV with no distractions - curse you VB.Net, curse you uni!
"I could toss on an eye patch and pirate the game. But I'm not an industry ruining monster..."
I resent that remark. If we're ruining the industry why the hell is the industry making record sells even with horrible economic recession plague every other industry.
Have you heard about the expected sell numbers. They're astronomical.
So please keep your anti-pirate comments to yourself.
If it's an ethical issue for you, I understand, but the gaming industry is doing just fine co-existing with us pirates. How many people do you know personally that have 360 or ps3 modified to play pirated game? We're small potatoes. Blame any lost sells on bad game development and lack of originality, please.
That music doesn't fit well with the video. Kind of annoying, actually.
Can't wait till next week, though. GTA IV and the start of summer blockbusters with Iron Man.
P.S. I agree that it's unethical to pirate software/media but the piracy isn't hurting the bottom line in the slightest and the companies need to take responsibility for some bad games (Superman Returns, Beowulf, Perfect Zero, etc.) rather than blaming others.
I see my sarcasm re: pirates didn't play out very well here. But the fact that someone actually got mad is pretty ridiculous. I mean, say what you will about the ethics of it -- honestly, I don't care -- but I mean, you are stealing, right? Or am I missing something?
I'm not saying that I've never done it, but trying to defend it is kind of silly. And then to turn it around and say that the industry should stop making bad games is ridiculous, since I don't know what one thing has to do with the other.
Also, if you have pirated GTA IV, can I come over and play it?
The best trailer yet ! Rockstar is really going out of their way to humanize Niko. Much much more then they have ever done before with any of the main stories protagonists.
I have always wanted a GTA game where the "anti-hero" has feelings and emotions. Hopefully his story will really be fleshed out, and not so ...cardboard like GTA:SA was -.-

I wasn't responding to you specifically earlier just sharing my opinion, but now I am. They're linked because that's what the music, movie, and gaming industry has used as a crutch for explaining why their products that suck don't do as well. Lame, but true.
Also, if you have pirated GTA IV, can I come over and play it?
You can come watch me play. It'll be like watching HD GameTrailers videos from my couch.
@Nick: Downloading isn't stealing. It's morally ambiguous, of couse. Now, torrenting it and thus UPLOADING it to other people is. That's copyright infringement.
Hey I'm not defending pirating. I'm just saying it ain't the cause of the "ruination" of the industry. Blaming small community of video game pirates on GTA4 not making sell expectations, is ridiculous if you ask me.
I can't hating pirating for one good reason. Thanks to emulation I would never have played the numerous snes rpgs that I didn't play/afford as a little kid or games that were never released in the states.
I salute you pirates for translating Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean 1, and numerous other japanese only snes-rpgs. People like hating on pirates because this they're a bunch self-righteous bastards who get butt hurt if people don't buy the game they love.
Heck, stealing is stealing I get that. But trying explaining that to a 16 year old kid who wanted to play Tales of Phantasia on the snes.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Rumor around these parts is that Nico Belic or his cousin Roman is an FBI agent! The Departed, anyone?
OH GAWD, THE WAIT IS MAKING ME ANGRY!!
I mean, I like when games have depth - GTA is not one of those games

BOO FRICKIN HOO!
PC's have to wait until who knows when :*( maybe never.
because they can
And we pay for that privilege, whereas you do not. Consoles aren't free or cheap.

I think i'm going to start up a gaming website so I can get into E3...
