Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was just released for the PlayStation Network this week and the lead animator on the project, Paul Robertson, has released some animated sprites of the various characters in the game to celebrate. Scott, Ramona, Knives, the evil ex's and more are all available for you to nab and use as your Forum avatars or something!
I adore everything Paul Robertson related and it's so great that he's finally put out a game. The Scott Pilgrim game is pretty awesome and I recommend you all try it out.
Be sure to check out our Scott Pilgrim giveaway where you can win some awesome items including the limited edition shirts.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Surprised about it being local multi only...hope the 360 version fixes that, and if so, I'd get another copy for that purpose.
While his style of animation is one of the main visual draws of this game, he has had his work in other games. The Drawn to Life series and Lock's Quest feature his awesome sprites.
the girls with bouncy boobs
I was totally into the movie, but then I learned the lead was Michael Cera.
DAMNIT, SCOTT PILGRIM, STOP DISAPPOINTING MEEEEE!
Fun-ass demo though.
@Moreno
You just have to look through anything on his livejournal for that. Anyone else notice that at least 60% of the girls in the game bounced more than any given Dead or Alive character?
*Mini Spoiler*
But the Zelda Fairy Fountain Music was too awesome 4 words
I went to the second showing and it was near empty...I hope this movie does well...I certainly know I'm going to continue to support it when the BluRay comes out.
My midnight was almost full and the crowd was totally bitching awesome. Saw it again tonight and it was pretty barren. Possibly only about 50 people. Then again it was at around 10:45 PM so who knows.
What I do know is I love these sprites.
Overlooking this game for a lack of online would be an awful, awful, awful choice. This is easily the most fun I've had out of a game this generation, and possibly even last generation.
I dunno, I just don't see Beat 'Em Ups as needing online play. Everytime I play a game like Final Fight: Double Impact with someone, it feels so soulless and empty. So much of playing a Beat 'Em Up relies on a type of communication, both verbal and non-verbal, than an online experience just can't match.
When I play a Beat 'Em Up locally with another, even when it was a stranger at an arcade, we'd form a 2-Hour bond. We'd find for each other, help each other out, coordinate attacks - hell, I'd even loan complete strangers quarter, and the same would every now and then be done for me. You don't get this online.
Honestly, there's never been a time I've played a Beat 'Em Up and enjoyed it more with a person online. If anything, I've enjoyed it less. At best, it's completely uncoordinated and each person is fighting for themselves with 'some other guy taking up space and stealing my items'. At worst, you end up with some dick who uses the mask of anonymity to grief others.
I was totally into the movie, but then I learned the lead was Michael Cera.
DAMNIT, SCOTT PILGRIM, STOP DISAPPOINTING MEEEEE! "
Wow, illustrating everything that is wrong with idiots like you in one simple post. Congratulations. "Oh noes no online whatever will I do?!?" I dunno play a single fucking player game you moron? "Oh noe Michael Cera!" How about shut up? Hmm? How about that. Whiny little douche.
I guess I could always start a party on Live while another person and I play Scott Pilgrim. All pretend like.
The only problem I'm having would be a massive inability to get anyone to sit down and play it with me. I love the demo and I reeeeally want to get it (Actually I AM when I get paid, unless I find something else on PSN worth $10), but co-op is a large part of it, and all my friends will only play a game if it's gory, a shooter, or occasionally sports. If it looks old or tries to go for a retro feel, they skip it. So I'd pretty much be winging the game alone, unless I can get my River City Ransom-loving shut-in of a friend over here. That and controllers cost like $60, and I only have two friends with PS3s. They have something like 8 controllers between them, so I could just borrow a few...
@Matt Welch
Way to completely overreact. See how people like The7k handled that? Take a hint from them.
I'll definitely buy this. Just kind of bummed there's no online play. I'd rather play this with my online friends.
And Michael Cera gets too much shit. He's good for what he is. He's just in some shitty movies. That's not really his fault.
@mattrodroid
If you haven't yet, play Super Double Dragon(it's a forgotten, beat 'em up gem).
Well, I only played SPvTW once with another person. Every other time, it was by myself, and it was still fun as hell.
There is a lot of potential for you to really mix it up with this game as you level up. Honestly, it's a shame the demo starts you at lv1, as it gives you an incomplete taste of how awesome this game gets.
I dunno, they really had me at the music.
And the fact that it's pretty much River City Ransom with Castle Crasher's leveling/move learning.
Just gotta get paid and I will crack that sucker wide open.
