Engrish Marketplace entry for Garou is ludicrous photo

Garou: Mark of the Wolves is coming to Xbox Live Arcade today, and despite costing 800 Microsoft Points, it's already providing mass entertainment completely free of charge. Garou's summary on the Xbox Live Marketplace appears to have been run through Babelfish or something, because it's absolutely ridiculous.

Here is what XBLA shoppers will be treated to when checking today's new releases:

It is the latest title of the Fatal Fury series [GAROU -MARK OF THE WOLVES-] comes to Xbox LIVE! With the New Hero “Rock Howard” who is only son of Geese Howard and rose up by legendary wolf Terry Bogard, story of the new wolves begin. It banned the traditional line-system but instead bring in the brand-new systems such as “Just Defense”, “T.O.P. In” and “Braking”. It is not only system which renewed but also all the characters are new comers only except Terry Bogard. Don’t miss the extreme battles of wolves! This game requires the Xbox 360 hard drive for storage.

I wouldn't want to miss an extreme battle of wolves when this story of the new wolves begin! What an amazing sounding game. I'm tempted to fork over the 800 Points just because I feel I owe SNK Playmore for the free chuckle this morning.

Anybody picking this up? It banned the traditional line-system but instead bring in the brand-new system! You can't say no to that!

[Update: Our friend Jeff Gerstmann at Giant Bomb has done a dramatic reading of the summary. Good show!]

Jim, had they not used Babelfish to translate the description, then they would have had to pay someone. And if they had to pay someone, this game would have cost 1600 MS Points instead of 800.

Duh.

That's a pretty bad blurb for the game.

The game on the other hand, is first rate. It is my 2nd favorite fighting game, right behind Last Blade 2. The stages are beautiful, the characters are animated wonderfully, and the characters are balanced (except for Freeman who sucks and Kevin Ryan who is a monster.)

Anyway. If you like SNK fighters at all, or are a classic Capcom fan and SF4 rang hollow for you. You should check this game out.

While it gives me NO idea what the game is actually about, that's the best description I've read in a while.

I actually shit myself, both physically and emotionally, when I found out this game was coming out on XBLA. Besides SFIII: Third Strike, it's the best 2D sprite-based fighter ever made. I'm tempted to buy it despite the fact that I'm totally broke at the moment.

Hilarious.

On a serious note, one of the guys on the epicbattlecry podcast was giving much love to this game and the video in the background looked mint. I'm gonna check this out when I get a new 360.

If it's the same as it was on the Neo-Geo arcade, I'll buy it.

Garou is good stuff if you like SNK fighters (KOF, Fatal Fury, Last Blade). If you don't like SNK fighters though, it's not much different.

My interest in fighting games is long over. It died last generation. I had this for Dreamcast but traded it away and I don't regret it. It looks pretty at least.

Had this been an uncut US version of Last Blade 2 on XBLA I might have caved in and bought it despite that I'd never play it. That game was much better IMO.

I got a taste of this Engrish earlier this week, when I picked up one of the gamer picture packs:

I hope it sells well based on the notoriety this game has gotten since GGPO and 2DF have shown up. Garou is an awesome game and rivals Street Fighter 3 for most fluid and beautiful animation of that time.

It's a fun game. Pick it up.
