English Resident Evil 5 demo dated photo

So, you couldn't be bothered to create a Japanese Xbox LIVE account for last month's Resident Evil 5 demo? Fear not, for the English demo is just around the corner. It will be out exclusively on XBL for one week starting on Monday, January 26.

While there's no mention from Capcom when the Resident Evil 5 demo will be playable for PlayStation 3 owners, I'm going to assume it will be up on the PlayStation Network immediately after the week of Xbox exclusivity is over.

For those that did play the Japanese demo, however, this appears to be the same thing. At the very least, the English demo features the same two levels: Assembly Place and Shanty Town.

I've seen mixed reactions towards the game from you guys, but I'm still hopeful that the full version will turn out fine. Then again, I might just be the biggest Resident Evil 4 fanboy every. Maybe.

"Resident Evil 5" Demo Premiers Exclusively on Xbox 360 Starting January 26

Xbox 360 gamers worldwide won’t have to wait until March 13, 2009 to get their hands on the highly-anticipated “Resident Evil 5.” The next installment of the landmark survival horror franchise from Capcom will take action to a new level with a two-level, playable demo available exclusively on Xbox 360 for one week beginning Monday, January 26. In the demo, players will have a first glimpse of the fear they will never forget, as “Resident Evil 5” makes daylight just as terrifying as darkness. Additionally, a new exclusive high-definition trailer of the game, shown only at the past Tokyo Game Show in October of 2008, will be made available for download on the Xbox LIVE service on Friday, Jan. 16.

Fans will have the opportunity to experience “Resident Evil 5’s” revolutionary new features early, including two-player co-op with voice chat along with new characters, weapons and environments. The demo is set within two stages from the beginning of the game – Assembly Place and Shanty Town -- featuring plenty of co-operative action, shooting, hordes of bloodthirsty infected Majini enemies and a few puzzles to round out the action. The demo has three levels of co-op play: single-player with AI support, two-player split-screen on a single Xbox 360 and two-player across Xbox LIVE.

Xbox 360 gamers will also be first to take on the new enemies in battle, including an army of weapon-wielding infected Majini, the gigantic hooded Majini Executioner and even the dreaded Chainsaw Majini. Players can also choose between the classic “Resident Evil”-style controls or switch to the newer “Action” controls inspired by games like “Gears of War 2” and “Halo 3.”

In this hotly anticipated new title coming on March 13, Chris Redfield returns as the “Resident Evil” hero and heads to Africa where the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures. Joining forces with a new partner, Sheva Alomar, the two must work together to discover the truth behind this evil plot. Utilizing the new co-op mode, players will be able to assume control of either Chris or Sheva and experience “Resident Evil” in new ways.

I'll fight you for the title of biggest RE4 fanboy. :P

I loved the Japanese demo, but I think this game has a ton to live up to. I'm hoping it surpasses 4, but it's gonna have a hard time doing so --- Especially if we're talking about the Wii version of 4.

I HATE downloading demos on 360. You can even pause them. It's such a bother.

Fuck that, I think I could challenge both of you for biggest fanboy here. You guys know I love the game, especially grim, who always comments on my blogs when I talk about RE4.

And I've owned every version of the game except for the PC.

Yeah, I know, it's sad.

Also, fuck the Wii version. I use the GC controller all day baby.

Why can't they release a demo for both platforms at once? I really want to play this game, I guess because I have a PS3 and have given Capcom hundreds of dollars buying Resident Evil games I'll get to play the demo later. Whatever, maybe the Left 4 Dead DLC will be out by then and overshadow my dissapointment in Capcom and satisfy my zombie killn' needs.

And yes, I'm a Sony fanboy, so save your time and your comments by not pointing it out to me.

What the fuck! Why the fuck don't they put the ps3 version of the demo on the same week as the 360. Why are there exclusive demos for multiplate games! How the fuck does that make scene! God this pisses me off so much because I want to play it so bad! AHHHHHHHH!

Fuck all ya'll wannabes, I have actually beaten RE4 Professional with only a knife! This is already 2009 GOTY for me(unless God of War 3 is somehow even better than 2).

Sweet, the demo comes out the week of my birthday!

Nothing says "congratulations on making it through another year" like poppin' a few caps in a few zombie asses.

Having played the demo and then Dead Space, RE5 feels clunky as hell, I'll still buy it on day 1, don't get me wrong but everything feels clunky.

Plus most things I've read paint the game as an upgraded RE4, there's even a water boss again and the ganados moved the same way in the demo.

I'm fairly certain the RE5 demo is available to download off the intranets. Just DL, burn to a dvd and pop it in your 360. Worked for me.

Personally, after playing Dead Space, RE5 felt extremely clunky. The game is beautiful though.
