PC gamers have been shooting each other up in id Software's Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for quite a while now, but the time has finally come when console owners can partake in the team-based multiplayer fragfest as well.
That's right, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Quake Wars are out now in the U.S., and will be released on May 30 in Europe and Australia.
I've never been a huge team player, so when I tried the PC beta for Quake Wars a while back, my team got destroyed more often than not. Even though I never took the time to learn how to play as the different classes correctly, I still sort of dug the game.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Meet the rest of the team
It's a great game for anyone familiar with the Wolfenstein Enemy Territory game that was released for free a few years back. I dig it very much so. I've had it for the PC for awhile, and while I haven't played it all too much, it still makes for an enjoyable game, especially anyone that's (still) big on the Quake series.
I was gonna get the Mac version but I got burned by Civ4. damn you Assphyr!.
It's tempting.
I'd like to hear more from folks that played the PC version.
I loved RtCW online but didn't really like ET(despite the price point). The flow of RtCW was just way more fun. Especially with one life. But I digress.. often.
Is it[ET:QW] fun? And would it be fun with a pad? When I think quake I think finesse but I don't get that impression from this iteration... Does it matter I wonder?
I hear that it is highly entertaining and a rewarding team based shooter. In fact, the most rewarding team based shooter yet.
On the reals, there are way too many futuristic shooting games that are out as is, with most of them being fun enough to not warrant having to look for an alternative futuristic shooting game.
somebody in this thread clearly does not clearly understand what a fanboy is but like to needlessly throw it around in an attempt to seem cooler than someone else
If I had money to spend on whatever I would probably get it. unfortunately I'm going to have to scrape the barrel to get metal gear. So until a large some of money falls into my lap no.
i have ~40 hrs on the PC version and this is one of the funnest games i have ever played. It's the best online shooter i have played simply cause it actually feels like you can get some where instead of just being a lemming going to slaughter. All the diffrent classes are well balanced and very useful in their own rights.
Soldier - standard Gunner wide range of weapons and explosives
Feild ops- Deploy//call in artilery, ammo packs -support guy
Engineer- Deploy turrets (anti-air/personal/vehicle), mines (actually very usefull) repair vehicles
Medic - health packs, revive fallen, strog can crate spawn points on fallen GDF
The best part is that you gain experience from kills and class actions (EX: medic healing people, Eng mines killing some one, picking up field ops's ammo packs) and it unlocks upgrades until the campaign ends ( 3 maps).
PC owners have been working the kinks out of the game since last fall and it has become a very good game, the main complaint i have ever seen on it is graphics are alittle dated (doom 3 eng) but there are still quite good. All in All not everyone will like this game. If you like everyone for them selves you probaly won't like this as you have to have certain classes to acive certain goals, But if you like working together and sometimes playing support roles as well as Mr. Hero Give it a try I would recomend if you are remotly interested Rent it it played the demo once and bought it right away.
I've got it on PC and I love it!
if you get onto a good server ( aka where people actually know what they are doing... ) its an enoursmously active and great game... compared to that battlefield was just boring :p
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Hoods comment was on the money
Though I'm not sure how the server system works for the 360/PS3 you might just be better off with the PC release..

Why would I want to play it on console with bad gamepad controls and everything else scaled back like online and graphics?
moving on back to the PC game that I have been playing for months.
