EndWar is 'on the backburner' photo

It looks like it'll be a bit before we real-time strategize troops by screaming into a microphone again. In a recent interview with VG247, Ubisoft Shanghai's Michael de Plater said that EndWar 2 is "on the backburner," adding no further details.

The original EndWar released on consoles in November 2008. A PC version lagged behind, releasing in February 2009. I heard that people liked the RTS despite its simple tactical formula (rock-paper-scissors). But people also like Oreos and Coca-Cola, and hell, you don't even order that stuff into your mouth.

Shit, this sucks - I loved Endwar and was really looking forward to a more varied sequel.

Pull your finger out!

Bit of a shame. I downloaded the demo to this; then realized I had no headset. The overall concept is fantastic though, and I look forward to the day I can be bothered to get this. (That'll be after I get Modern Warfare 2 and a headset, obv.)

I need to play this more. Neat, fairly simple RTS.

@Joseph - The headset thing is more gimmicky than anything, it does work, but it's by no means essential.

I played many hours of the first one and rarely used the voice commands.

Online persistant War is a big thing for me, I love to choose a faction and for the results of online battles to actually count towards a greater outcome.

This is why i love Endwar and MAG, and why I quickly get sick of games that just drop on one of the two teams, with the only difference being how they look. I want to sign up for a faction not just "kill the red team" over and over and over. Although a lot of games tag your enemies as red, it's way better when it's an actual faction you're fighting.

"you dont even order that stuff into your mouth"

you may not, but i do. nom nom nom.

i liked endwar, im not a huge RTS fan, ive played SC and WC but that was about it. never considered myself very good at them. i found the simplicity a bit of a relief and i enjoyed *talking* into my mic to give orders. i hope they are putting it off for a good reason, new tech or something.

I love this game. Too bad the community is a piece of shit comparing the sizes of their e-penises on a daily basis, killing all your units, complaining all the time, the community is pretty terrible.

The game's mechanics should be brushes up to remove unit killing completely and generally make for a more fun online experience where you DON'T have to worry about some ass gloating over the death of your units or going out of his way to kill them when you just want to have a fun match with no STUPID competitions over who has the bigger balls and the greater capacity to swear at the other after the game.

Also, the servers are a giant pile of shit.

That being said, there is no better console strategy game than EndWar and few PC strategy games can match it as well.

I'm fine with that. EndWar was good, but I don't really need a sequel for anything.
