Empire: Total War brought down to $24.99 on Steam photo

You know, it would take nothing short of a videogame to get me interesting in the happenings of the 18th century, but I ... wait, The Creative Assembly already made that game? It's called Empire: Total War, and it is 50% off on Steam this weekend? Hot damn! Violence and learning, my favorite combination.

Yep, that's $24.99 for Empire: Total War to be teleported to your personal computing device of choice, and $34.99 for Empire: Total War Special Forces Edition. The majority of the time I allotted for writing this post was spent turning myself into Optimus Prime, but I did learn one useful tidbit.

Namely, a hefty patch for the game is due out on Monday, which probably explains the timing of the sale. I've heard from a number of people that Empire launched with a considerable amount of problems, but that was what, back in early March?

Empire is a good game, but I really wish they'd just release the multiplayer campaign patch already.

Oh great, now I feel even more like a chump for paying full price for this practically unfinished game. Thankfully, there are great mods like A Proper Empire that make this playable.

I payed full price for this on STEAM on release date back on the date... for what I got.... a very, very buggy game.

That price seems fair and most of the problems have been worked out... but still, I payed 50usd for this on STEAM and the support was sh***. Man I dont even want to get started on the matter. Is a good game, for that price get it.

@Velt

Well support isn't instant. Obviously it was there as the new patch is said to fix most of the problems. And this is only a weekend deal, it's not permanently $25, so really it's still $50. Thus, you didn't get ripped off.

Yeah when I heard about this shit I got pretty pissed...

Paid $50 for an unfinished game - barely played it waiting for a patch to fix it's issues. Now it's $25 this weekend with a patch that might make it half-way fucking decent being released a day after wards on Monday.

A bitter pill to swallow. All you can do is not give Sega and Creative Assembly your (full-price) dollar next time.

Heh, I feel your pain. I've bought a number of games on Steam that didn't feel complete until a few patches later or dropped to half price in a few months (L4D....) for a weekend.

Anywho, don't feel bad about buying it at 50. If you played it before and enjoyed it (but were annoyed at the bugs) you got your money's worth for being an early adopter. Just like iPhone people, and console owners. If you don't want to feel betrayed you just have to not buy things when they first come out (nothing purchased within the first 6 months -- or until it reaches a reasonable price for you).

I'd so be buying this... if the weekend deal hadn't been seemingly blocked in Japan.
