Just yesterday, that Wii loving bad boy Brad Nicholson posted some hot news on an interview with Capcom stating that Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will have more outfits that the original. Sad thing is, the interview doesn't say exactly what those outfits will be. The 360 original featured a full Mega Man X costume (complete with Mega-Buster), as well as a creepy-cute Servebot mask that pretty much sold me on the game upon first sight. Looks like Capcom is at that sort of in-game self promotion again, but this time they're using Dead Rising to promote a game that's yet to be released. According to these scans, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will be the first game by Capcom where you can play as dreadlocks sporting tough guy with a bionic arm. It's a weird move, especially seeing as no "next-gen" version of Bionic Commando is coming to the Wii. Is Capcom hoping that people who buy Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will love it so much that they not only buy a PS3/360 afterward, but Bionic Commando as well? Or even weirder, do they think that PS3/360 owners who currently don't want Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop will see this outfit, and be so overcome with excitement for Bionic Commando that they'll buy Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop anyway, just to virtual cosplay as Radd Spencer? Ah, who cares! Just let me re-murder zombies by shaking a giant golden bell at them while wearing a over-sized, red pirate's hat and I promise this game will be a hit. [via Gonintendo]

Japan's exclusive PS3 console sure is pretty. It's a shame that this is a Japanese exclusive, as it would have finally made me break down and purchase a PS3. Oh well, I'll still get the system when God of War III finally comes out. In shocking news, it has been discovered that Left 4 Dead star and lovable war veteran Bill has been taking his role as a post-apocalyptic zombie combatant a little too far. Perhaps to protect his identity, news outlets are referring to him as Robert Sylvester, but he is now in a critical condition after leading cops on a high speed chase and pulling a gun on them. Vietnam flashbacks, maybe? "Sylvester" is suspected of robbing a Check n' Go in Bloomington. After leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect led police from the crime scene to Normal Community West High School in Normal, where he started waving his gun around. Naturally, he was shot. Just in case you think this isn't really Bill and we've simply decided to pick on some old criminal with a vague and passing resemblence to a videogame character, may I direct you to the photoshop artist's conception provided by our tipster, Ernie. After seeing the helpful additions he was made to the above picture of "Sylvester," I think his real identity will become clear.

The CES 2009 keynote just wrapped up where our boys Nick Chester and Dale North tweeted their brains out about all of the new Microsoft products coming out soon. Windows 7 looks pretty tempting!
Anyway, Robbie Bach of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division talked about all things Xbox 360-related and dropped some Halo-related information for all you Halo fans. Why yes, people actually still play Halo! In fact, the average user has played 150 hours of Halo 3 online! Oh snap!
After we got some stats about Halo 3, Robbie talked briefly about Halo Wars and Halo: ODST. A demo for Halo Wars will be hitting Xbox Live on February 5, a few of weeks before its release, which was confirmed for February 28. It was also revealed that Halo Wars is going to be rated Teen, a first for the Halo series. As for Halo: ODST, nothing at all was said about it other than that it's coming out this year, which was already known. Looks like Nick was right about the keynote being a snoozefest.

Vile sinners, gaze in awe and wonder at this instrument of darkness, and ask in confusion and horror why your Lord has forsaken you. This ... beast ... is the twisted brainwrong of Nyko, a third party Wiimote being hailed as "the most advanced Wii remote yet." The Nyko Wand is similar to the Nintendo product we are all familiar with, except it looks a bit like it was designed by half-crazed, starving Oompa Loompas on the back of a thirty day coke binge. It uses Trans-Port technology, a term Nyko probably made up on the day, to add extra functionality to compatible devices. For example, the Nyko Wand will work with a new pistol grip that allows full force-feedback and a way to access the 1 and 2 buttons without having to reach over the top. Another major innovation is the gigantification of the buttons, which Nyko claims will enhance usability when the remote is strapped into one of the many gaudy accessories available on the market. It's also batsh*t insane, in case you haven't noticed.

Microsoft’s presentation at CES lacked flash and spirit. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t have some merit. One of the first things revealed by Robbie Bach is quite important for those entrenched in the Xbox 360’s New Xbox Experience. Xbox Live Primetime and its initial game show “1 vs. 100” will debut this spring.
Tragically, it appears as though Bob Saget won’t be making a virtual appearance in “1 vs. 100.” The Avatar filling his shoes didn’t bare a resemblance, nor did the booming voice emulate his sexy delivery. I thought the host sounded like Cookie from You Don’t Know Jack, but my memories of that game are a bit fuzzy.
One of the questions asked during the live showing of the game pertained to the recent film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I quit paying attention after I heard the name of the movie, but it struck me that the question could be an early indication that Primetime could have a lot of fresh, topical stuff.

At its CES keynote speech moments ago, Microsoft announced a new addition to the Community Games Channel, called simply Kodu. A game designed to "turn Xbox 360 players into creators," Kodu is a new piece of software hoping to hop aboard the "user generated content" train that is proving so quasi-popular lately. Giving a demonstration "with an actual 12-year-old girl," Microsoft’s President of the Entertainment and Devices Division, Robbie Bach, demonstrated the service, which actually looks like it might have potential. Granted, we have no idea what was actually going on as Bach went looking for imaginary rocks among musical trees with a pre-teen girl calling herself "Sparrow" ... but it looked kind of cool. It's also worth noting that this game was originally titled Boku, or at least shows ridiculous similarities. No idea why the name changed, but we have seen slivers of this game before. This is sure to draw comparisons with Sony's LittleBigPlanet, but Kodu looks like it might be a cool little program for younger kids. Whether the Xbox 360 has the right audience for it, however, is another question. Let us not forget how successful games like LIPS have been so far. Press release after the jump.

How many BioShock sequels would you like to own? When I posed this question to myself, I was surprised with the answer. I’ll consume as many BioShock titles as 2K are willing to throw at me. Even if the series loses its characteristic look and narrative grace. I believe that is how most Star Wars movies fans think as well. I imagine they put on their crash helmets any time Lucas opens his mouth, but also welcome any new movie with open arms. The Star Wars vibe has always felt the same, even if the content is questionable. Recently, 2K global president Christoph Hartmann told MCV that BioShock has the same franchise potential as Star Wars. He added that it is only possible if sequels stay true to the original game. From the interview: For Bioshock, because it’s so story driven, the question obviously arises: how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix? The first Matrix was great, the second one was weird and the third one, you thought: ‘Who [making this] is on crack and who isn’t?’. “But, then again, look at Star Wars. It’s a fight between good and evil, just like Bioshock. If we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did.
Hartmann then said, “But we have to be careful not to cash in.”

When Prototype was announced way back in 2007, I was almost immediately sold on the concept. Sandbox games rank among some of my favorites, even if they often times have their fair share of faults (see: Mercenaries 2). As time went by, I slowly became less and less interested in Prototype as almost everyone who got to play the open-world game had mostly negative things to say. And wouldn't you know it, I'm once again anticipating Prototype thanks to the video above. It's sort of hard to pin down exactly what's changed since the last time we've seen in-game footage, but I suppose you could call the gameplay more ... refined. In particular, the shot where the player-controlled tank is blasting civilians looks incredibly fun. Does this trailer do anything for you guys? I'm still very much skeptical, but my perception of Prototype has definitely changed for the better.
