Guitar Hero coming to cell phones; hopes not be drowned out by riotous laughter

Guitar Hero coming to cell phones; hopes not be drowned out by riotous laughter photo
     WHAAAAAAT?

There are multiple levels of ridiculous in all things from film to games. The announcement of Guitar Hero Mobile invents a whole new level of senselessness -- It's the equivalent of trying to milk a meercat. Why do I play Guitar Hero? Let's see, to play a guitar in a realistic way, to play with my friends, and to turn it up as loud as I can for proper rocking.

Let me take out my cell phone and have a look here. Definitely can't emulate a guitar, so that's a no go. Don't think my friends are going to want to come over to see my rock out air guitar on my Samsung, so that one is out. Oh, and how could I forget that cell phones have the crappiest sound in history and I'd rather jam out on a Fisher-Price cassette recorder from 1984?

This is some serious brand whoring, and no sir, I do not like it. I'm not a fan of cell phone gaming anyway, as it just seems a poor method of marketing games in a day and age when consumers are enjoying top of the line graphics and sound on modern consoles, but frankly this surpasses that and goes straight to lunacy.

I want to be corrected, really, because I know a lot of developers are working hard to make cell phones an acceptable platform, and I do support developers very strongly. Can someone give me a reason to direct my scorn elsewhere?

UPDATE: Hamza kindly found the trailer for me, should you want to peruse it.

I thought this game was already out, considering I have it on my cell phone and everything. Must be a knock-off then.

Oh and as a Keypad-Hero, the game's pretty sweet. A good rhythm-based game.

Sounds like someone wants to tap into the portable market. I think Harmonix did it best already with their iPod game Phase. Custom soundtracks, note charts generated as your songs are added to the playlist, and enough difficulty to send you into a raving mad lunatic. I think because it wasn't trying to be Guitar Hero and instead more like Amplitude and FreQuency is what made it a winner in my book.

It was a few bucks well spent.

it is out already, on Verizon's get it now..

doesn't anyone read my mobile blogs?

wait. i already knew the answer to that one. anyways, its overpriced, but works. there's only 3 notes, and you match them kinda like the guitar hero tap tap revolution skin on the i-phone, only replace free with $12.

Finally, a use for my guitar peripheral for my Razr I bought... too bad it wasn't Rock Band being ported, so I could use my mini drums as well.

Actually, there's already a guitar rhythm game for mobile. I think it's called Guitar Legend by Gameloft. It's almost exactly the same as Guitar Hero, seriously. EXACTLY the same. Only Guitar Legend can hold more than two songs and is on more carriers than just Verizon (GH is only on Verizon). Ironic that in the GH vid one of the opening slogans is "accept no imitations." Yeah, check out the GL vid:

Yeah, I have Guitar Legend, and it's pretty pitiful, but funny. Half the songs just have the vocals fretted, which are played on midi guitar.
