CES 2007: First video footage of Castlevania: SOTN for XBLA

Microsoft has been showing off all of their new Xbox Live Arcade games at CES 2007 and boy do they look good. Of these upcoming titles, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, is looking to be one of the more anticipated.

Any fan of the Castlevania series will tell you how much this game rocked, so let's hope the port will be just as good, if not better. I don't know about you guys, but I'm almost ready to forgive the lack of decent XBLA releases after seeing what is in store for us.

I feel exactly the same as Dexter345. I hope they don't have to kill the music too much. I hope they retain the old RICHTER username cheats etc.

Ok, so heres my question. Is this gonna be the Saturn version
of it or the psx. The Saturn version had more items better animations and Maria as a playable character.

The Saturn version is a def buy. Perhaps they'll have xbl only stuff though but wouldn't count on it.

If it's the psx ver hell I can play that on my xbox 1 already

Would be great if it was the Saturn version, but I doubt it.

And who the hell is playing that in the video? He didnt grab a sub-weapon for that item crash, and hit Dracula in the head! The Head! XD

I almost shit myself when I heard this. One of my favorite PSOne games on the Live Arcade. I really can't wait. Anyone, got a timetable on when this is coming?

First of all, the Gamevideos player is shit.

Second, who gives a flying fuck about a PS1 game on XBLA?

If you told me in 1986 that I'd be paying money to play the same 1986 games in 2006, I'd call you effing nuts.

Are you going to spend $20 to play Elebits in 2026?

The answer sadly is "hell, yes."

Koji Igarashi...

I do love the games and I just beat Portrait of Ruin with almost 100% everything, (Just missing less than 10 drops from monsters in the Nest of Evil, but otherwise - full mastery, full exploration, quests, etc. finished) but wow. That final battle scene is almost entirely recreated!

No wonder people accuse the studio of reusing sprites. (Which, to an extent, I think they do quite often). Still, reuse with more additions will still get me to buy the game.

Now if only we could play dress-up and actually see those dozens of armors in use...

Someone take the controller away from this retard. It looks like the type of gameplay clips I would expect from IGN.

I assumed it'd be around 10$ to keep in line with ps3 and wii's dl's. Also I think most people who have played it would be the PSOne version.

Now granted the game did have some pixlation issues, so if they make it 720p fix issues and it's the Saturn version, sorry man thats worth my 10$ at any year.

Lack of decent titles?

Somebody forgot to download Assault heroes? That game was short but sweet

I'm kinda amazed by the hate.(Though I shouldn't be on a forum).

This was the best Castlevania game ever made. The Ds games were almost as good though.

Sure they're have been some good games already, but Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, Double Dragon, Fatal Fury Special, and Metal Slug are all upcoming. I haven't really seen much of the later 3 yet, but CC and AH are definitely at CES and playable.

Big deal! I'm already playing it in my PSP, all thanks to mighty firmware 3.02 OE-B.
No need to pay again for a game I have already bought...

Castlevania 4 is out for the VC too. Reason number 1337 to dislike Sony: no Castlevania downloads on the PS3.

This really may be the greatest franchise ever.

I've got the Japanese Saturn version and it's sweet potatoes!

I'll no doubt go for a wee little taste of this.
