looks great BUT where is the split screen support? the reason why I play mario kart is cuz it supports 4 players on one console. I hope modnation includes at least 2 player offline play

Animation looks pretty stiff and the art style is kind of uninspired. I'm losing interest.

even then fozzy a comics story is not just told panel to panel. It almost never has been. it's not just the panels. It's the flow, design, and pacing of the panels. THis is good for artists like Jim Lee who can draw pretty pictures but lack any storytelling ability but for a lot of things. You would never see a JH Williams comic that works in a small digital format.

Yet you no were mentioned that they might be doing a premium service. I couldn't follow any of that,

@Hades: It appears that the actual moveset is there, though. You'll notice that at 0:20 of the video, the Rex character spin jumps (you can hear the sound it makes, and he one-hit-KOs an enemy Rex rather than requiring two hits), and at 0:51 Rex goes unscathed underneath a Banzai Bill. Either the collision detection is actually awful, or the player controlling Rex was ducking, but there is no sprite/animation for that.

I am scared to death of the next twenty years.

If it makes you feel any better Jim, I do like your style of writing though it brings out more retards than you can shake a willy at. Though I think you give too much bravado and too much I am always right to the table than needs be.

Also the thing about MW2 or GoW2 being expansions, though I've never played GoW2. If there is anything in the game that the previous engine can not handle or execute, then it is a new game. From what I've heard they are already porting the L4D content to L4D2 via a mod, that tells me not enough was changed to warrant a full price.

From what I hear and I don't want to speculate to much but even from what I've seen many of the weapons are the same the only thing added were tweaks to the Director (which is still basically the same from last time), melee weapons, and four new creatures. Each creature performing one task. These changes are the lowest I've ever seen I've seen more changes in patches, let alone an expansion.

However I can see it the other way too. Your right a lot of games these days, do reuse assets and graphics engines, ect,. ect,. that's because that's the way it is these days. Console games don't evolve much graphically. So yes for console games almost anything with a new campaign can be considered a new game. Also you might PC game but you clearly didn't start early. I can't think of a game in the old days that used the same graphics engine and was basically the same game that had all the content + more that L4D2 has that wasn't labeled an expansion. Technically when all you do is add assets to already existing software you just expand upon what you have.

These days Consoles take precedence over PC, in this case this is what happened. Instead of expanding upon what was already there, allowing you to use the previous characters and use the original campaign, all that. They negged to keep PC in line with the Xbox360 version. (This is in line with Xbox360 brings us all down theory I have but that's for another day)

So the old PC gamers who have been gaming since gaming existed before PC gaming existed playing pacman and what not. They are going to have growing pains, getting into the more expensive pay me for doing less scheme of things. There's no reason to call them Morons, Idiots, or Retards. Have some respect for those who have been gaming since gaming began. Most likely before you walked.

As for your theory TheStripe, well, I can't say much about it since I can't say for sure if the camera is set to follow the Mario sprite specifically. But I would assume it just naturally follows whomever is the main player. Since it is naturally meant to be played single player, with two players simply taking turns, player one as Mario and player two as Luigi, I assume it just follows whomever's turn it is. So if player one was meant to be the one playing the camera would follow them, and vice versa.

Still, the possibility of future full co-op Mario World excites me to no end. My fave Mario title is but a small retroengineering job away from rebirth.

Let's go with the scenario you put forth the7k. You theorized that using the Rex sprite was most logical because there were already Rex sprites in the level and thus already loaded. However, notice that the playable Rex is recolored and every non-playable Rex is the same color as one another and non are colored the same as playable Rex. Despite simple being a palette swap, the playable Rex counts as a separate sprite.

But, lets say it still counts as the same sprite for argument sake, why couldn't he have simply used Luigi? After all Luigi is simply a recolored Mario sprite and Mario as with the Rex (how do you pluralize "Rex"?) in the level are already loaded into memory.

As for the whole "Its too short, its not worth the money" thing, I think we need to stop making that arguement as much as we do. If a game is well designed and understands its appropriate length, then it has every right to be priced in the $60 dollar range. L4D1 and 2 understand exactly what they should to be and they do it very well.
Sure it may not be for everyone, but then again, what game is?

The problem with L4D, is that people view it like a single player campaign, when it is a multiplayer game. In the same way that you play a map on COD4 a lot, you are supposed to play the campaigns more then once, and with other people. Most of the people who complain about L4D are playing it single player, and only once per campaign. It is not supposed to be played that way.

Not only this, but It seems that most of the people mad about L4D2 were the people who didn't like L4D1. Most of the people who are mad about L4D2 and L4D1 seem to be the people who played it like a single player experience. It is a multi-player experience meant to be played multiple times, with other people.

Adding a second Mario was probably the sticking point. It certainly seems easier to use an existing object and apply character control. Think about it this way; the screen follows Mario. That is, part of the condition of the "Mario" object is that the screen follows him. Not possible for the screen to follow two Marios. Also, two Mario objects never exist in the same level.

Would it have been possible to skin Luigi over Rex? Likely, but then ALL instances of Rex would have pulled Luigi's sprite instead.

Fucking yes! The original Super Mario Kart is perhaps the best in the entire series, in my opinion. The control is such that utter mastery can be achieved, and shaving seconds off time-trials was an absolute delightful challange back in the day. Also, the battle mode is WIN. Hooray!
