  j1mb0, The PS3 has better textures/graphics, but pop-in and pop-out. Some animations skip frames from time to time. I have also heard that difficulty was reduced so you'd have to pause less in order to make it more of an action rpg than what it is on the PC. That being said, I still think you'd have a blast. I've not heard of any *gamebreaking* bugs on the console versions.

  @MrSadistic: Actually, the loading times in the Dwarf city are exactly the same as elsewhere, that's the memory leak. In most of the forums I've seen, Orgrimmar is where it always happens. Literally the load times were killing me, I popped out, back in, what had been taking foreeeeeeeever (ala Chris Jericho) loaded in 20 secs tops.
  
  @Nic128 I prefer to do my gaming on consoles, and my main reason for PC was for the mod community, but I agree with your assessment. You can buy more copies of BDA from the vendor in your party camp (top right corner of the world map; took me like 3 missions before I noticed it).

  Books are an interesting proposition, Jimbo. I only allow myself to read 2 series, as to not stop eating, sleeping, working and everything else since I am consumed by books. It is basically I become zombified and live inside my head, wanting to turn the next page. I consume an inordinate amount of text daily via periodicals, magazines and trade journals both for work and also for the video game industry. When I DO read books, whether I read them again or not depends. The Wheel of Time Series, yes, I will generally reread the last book or two just to catch up on details because it's been two years since the last book. It also doesn't help that I consume 800+ page books in a single sitting/day. Leaving me 2+ years until the next release. My other series I read, the Shannara series by Terry Brooks, I've never reread. So mostly, no, I guess even with books I tend not to reread. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've reread from book 8 up in the Wheel of Time series, either. ... view replies

  After 37+ hours into this game, I concur with my esteemed colleague on his observations regarding the scientifically measurable sheer awesomeness contained within the shrink-wrapped packaging.
  
  I have not done a single item on the main quest. In 37+ hours.
  
  While I *have* encountered the graphical glitches many have talked about ( the most annoying being the stray polygon on my guns that stretches to infinity); it still doesn't detract from the game. With 50+ friends on my list tho, I did have to turn notifications off (between clan and dtoid friends, it was driving me nuts).
  
  To put it in Jablesese: This game will fucking rock your socks off. Because I'm talkin' about the Fallout.

  Institute a return policy, where anyone who DOESN'T have online can return the disc and get it swapped for the new 'sans song disc' with your heartfelt apologies if they were offended.
  
  This is the part I don't get. WHY would they do this to their fanbase (recalling) instead of what I proposed above... makes so much more sense than what they are doing, regardless if their Batshit crazy, EDS, or not. They get the apology IN ADVANCE before the game release, along with a way to redeem for a non-offending version for those that are sensitive.

  Many people have gotten the correct gist of 'gutting' across.
  
  What most people don't think about is the prereserve process itself.
  
  Five dollars down gets a copy of the game reserved, what, four months in advance, perhaps more? Let's say it's six just for fun.
  
  Now let's say it's a popular game like MGS4. Let's say, nationwide, that 100,000 people put down $5 (Yes, real numbers would be higher, just an example here). That would be $500,000.00 going into an overnight account accruing roughly 1% interest in an overnight account APY. That's $2500 they make in six months just holding your five dollars. As you expand that picture outwards, realizing that they get multiple hundreds of thousands of preorders, and it's on ALL games, not just one popular one, you see that GameStop is an organization that thrives on making money work for them, instead of the other way around.
  
  Say what you will, but it's shrewd financeering, and with rumors in the mill of upping the preorder amount to $10 per game, I wouldn't be surprised to continue seeing record growth despite the economy woes.

  Hell, it's taken how many years, 12, to even get some uniform payout standards on internet advertising/media... I sincerely doubt 100% of the US will have infrastructures to support a 'full HD world.'
  
  That's not speaking to the fact also that not everyone adopts when a lifecycle is started. What, we're three years into the PS3 now, and still there is a HUGE base of PS2 users that haven't upgraded.
