RetroforceGO! Episode 100 photo

Yatta! We did it! I think. I am both proud and honored to finally present to you our 100th episode. It's more or less a listener questions show, but a little more personal this time around. Also, Chad totally wrote a song especially for this occasion, and he totally sings it. I imagine it will change the course of human history. Other highlights include:

  • 100 episodes! Woot, etc.
  • Chad's morning routine
  • Hands-on PS3 Slim impressions
  • Chiptune re-entry by the mysterious Coffeesash
  • Chad Concelmo is straight up gangsta
  • Cereal business
  • You are so not ready for Chad's song
  • We <3 you
Again, thanks for listening. It's been a hundred episodes now and we're still amazed anyone actually listens to this. You can get the last episode of the season by subscribing to us on iTunes or the feed service of your choice, or you can grab it right over here. We're gonna take a few weeks off, but we'll be back before you know it for our third season. Maybe with some new features. Maybe a monkey. Or like, rocket launchers.

RetroforceGO! records episode 100 tonight: Retroforce photo

Well kids, looks like we made it. Tonight we record our 100th episode. We thought about what our topic should be, and having already done a few retrospective episodes, we figured another one would bore you. You've heard those stories, right? So, much like your date last night, we're gonna talk about ourselves.

That sounds pretty conceited on the surface, but we thought it would be nice to give you guys a chance to get to know us as people, and as gamers. Believe it or not, Dyson does more than sit around eating Pizza Rolls all day, and I happen to like a few games that aren't Ikaruga. So tonight we'll be taking your questions about the crew. We'd love a chance to tell you what our favorite current games are, or what we like to do in our off hours. Ask us whatever you like, but let's not get ridiculously personal, eh?

And keeping on par with a listener questions episode, this is probably going to spiral into absurdity, so you may as well toss out a few Disney song requests for Chad and Colette. 100 episodes is a lot of podcasting, and we're just going to have some fun tonight to close out the season. Hooray for mayhem.

RetroforceGO! ep 99: The Wizard DVD Audio commentary photo

Happy not-quite-Friday, listeners. This week we recorded our audio commentary track for The Wizard. Hopefully you've been able to obtain a copy of the film, otherwise this is going to be the most boring and confusing episode you've ever listened to.

If you have, you can sync up with us after the first half of the podcast and watch the movie along with us, MST3K-style. Highlights this week include:

  • California
  • Califooorrnia
  • California?
  • Califooooooorrrrrnia
  • California
  • Dinosaurs!
Subscribe to us on iTunes for the early matinee, or download it here to watch it late, when the theater is full of noisy teenagers. We hope you enjoy. We'll be back next week for our final show of the season, which also happens to be our 100th episode!

RetroforceGO! records episode 99 tonight: The Wizard photo

So you know how Podtoid does that thing where we sit around and yap over bad videogame movies, MST3K style? Yeah, we're doing that. Say what you will about podcasts yoinking ideas from one another, but The Wizard has come up as a topic of discussion on this show far too many times for us not to do our own audio commentary on it. So that's what we'll be doing.

We realize this is incredibly short notice, and for that we apologize. Somehow or another we forgot to mention it at the end of last week's episode. So to give you a little more time to rent, stream, or otherwise perfectly legally obtain a totally legit, not at all downloaded, totally not torrented copy of the film, we're recording earlier than usual this week. The show will go up on Thursday as it normally would, so perhaps by then you'll have totally rented or not downloaded a version to watch along with us. If not, hey, you can save it for some other time.

Given the length of this episode, we likely won't have room for more than a couple of listener questions, if any. But please feel free to leave us some anyway if you're so inclined, and we'll see what happens.

RetroforceGO! episode 98: Super Metroid photo

Happy Friday, listeners! This week's episode is all about Super Metroid, and might also be the first time Chad and Dyson have discussed the topic together without arguing. Not a bad way to bring us toward the end of the season. Highlights include:

  • The ice cream cart returns
  • Sexy Poker ... yeah
  • BEEEEEEEEES
  • The tale of Hamza sucking
  • Backtracking: lazy or anything but?
  • The origin of immersion
  • Speedruns!

As always, subscribe to us on iTunes to get the show early, or check it out over here. Only two episodes remain before we wrap up our second season, but contrary to what the bullies on the playground have been telling you, we're not going anywhere.

We'll be taking a few weeks off after our 100th show, so you guys can catch up on any episodes you might have missed, and we can enjoy a little vacation. But we'll return before you know it, possibly with some new surprises. Oooh.

RetroforceGO! records episode 98 tonight: Super Metroid photo

Most of you will have played the game that serves as tonight's topic of discussion many times over. You know its weapons, its levels, the ins and outs of how to take down its many formidable enemies and bosses. But the one thing you might not know about Super Metroid is perhaps also the most important thing you can know. And that is that Hamza sucks at it.

Armed with this knowledge, you may now enjoy any and all future replays of this game in a new light. That no matter how hard it might seem, Mister Aziz probably couldn't do any better. Now that you've been enlightened, I invite you to leave your questions for tonight's episode in the comments.

RetroforceGO! episode 97: Final Fantasy VII photo

Happy Friday, listeners. This week we finally recorded our Final Fantasy VII episode, as this season's final installment of our Retro Limbo series. It's a long show, and it's packed full of talk about stuff like:

  • Chad Concelmo: Ice cream burglar
  • Spoilarz
  • Materia: best system ever
  • Why people are still cosplaying Sephiroth
  • Spinoffs: The good, the bad, and the Dirge of Cerberus
If you subscribe to us on iTunes, you've already heard it. If not, you can do so here. We'll catch you again next week.

RetroforceGO! records episode 97 tonight: Final Fantasy VII photo

When the sins of a corrupt organization begin to harm the Earth, a band of rebels steps in to make right of the unspeakable acts caused by the evil corporation known as Shinra. But what begins as a rebellion against an evil empire becomes much more -- namely, a podcast.

As this season's final installment of our Retro Limbo series, tonight we finally record our Final Fantasy VII episode. I'll leave it at that. Your questions are welcome after the jump.

RetroforceGO! episode 96: Pinball photo

With the ladies away at SDCC, Chad, Dyson, Conrad and I got together to record the manliest episode of RetroforceGO ever. If we'd planned it to happen this way, we could have done something super testosterone-driven, but instead we talked about pinball, because that's what was on the schedule. I guess that's still pretty manly when you think about it. Beefy highlights include:

  • Hot oil and headbands
  • Chad gets a special delivery
  • Hey look, PSN
  • Balls, flippers, rails, lights, plungers and noise
  • Chad's encounters with a true pinball wizard
  • The more crap it's got in it, the better
  • Conrad enlightens us on some neat tricks
If you really loved us you'd subscribe to us on iTunes. But if not, you can listen to the show here. I guess that would be fine, too. Enjoy, and check back next week, when we'll be discussing a game that will have most of you very, very excited.

RetroforceGO! records episode 96 tonight: Pinball photo

In somewhat of a departure from the norm, this week's episode is not about videogames. I say "somewhat" because it's not entirely unusual for the show to not be about videogames, even if that's our topic every week. But this time it's, you know, on purpose.

Instead, we'll be talking about pinball. Some of our younger listeners probably don't even know what that is, but our second season is almost at a close and it's something we've always wanted to do. So with the ladies away at SDCC, we'll be joined once again by our friend Conrad Zimmerman, and it'll just be us dudes. Talking about our shiny, metal balls. Hit the comments with your fondest pinball memories and your questions for us.

RetroforceGO! not recording this week, we are sorry photo

We know, we know. And we hate to do this to you again, but ... well, we're pretty much all traveling or away this week. But hey, if you're in the Baltimore area for Otakon this weekend, (and really, why the hell else would you come here?) you can meet Colette and me in person. That's gotta count for something, right?

No? Oh. Well, I dunno what to tell you then. We'll be back again next week though, and hopefully you'll have forgiven us by then, because it's a fun topic and we wouldn't want you to miss it. But if you're not mad at us and you're around for the nerdy festivities, Colette and I would be delighted to meet you. Come find us and we can play some games together. That is, provided you aren't one of those congoers who refuses to wear deodorant, in which case we have never heard of this "Pesto fork gold" you speak of.

RetroforceGO! episode 95: Listener questions photo

Happy Friday, listeners. This week's episode was made up entirely of your questions, so if it's lame, it's totally your fault. And if it's awesome, then you should pat yourself on the back for being so good at coming up with interesting things for us to talk about. Also for being cute, because you are. Highlights this week include:

  • Atlus hard
  • ScienceforceGO!
  • Retro retro retro stop saying retro
  • You have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy
  • Unofficial game soundtracks
As always, you can subscribe to us on iTunes to get the show early, or check it out here. We'll be back next week, ever closer to episode 100.

RetroforceGO! records episode 95 tonight: Listener questions photo

The time has come once again, dearest listeners. The time ... for nonsense. Tonight we record another of our all-listener questions episodes, made up entirely of whatever ridiculous poppycock you happen to leave us in the comments. We're not fans of rules, and tonight there won't be any.

So hit the jump and ask us about absolutely anything. The more creative and original your question, the more likely you are to win our weekly swag pack giveaway. I encourage you to be offbeat, thoughtful, and/or outlandishly offensive. We'll sift through and select the best of the best tonight for episode 95. Now then. Onward ... to mayhem.

Retroforce Recap: so what about those dirty games, now? photo

The RetroforceGo! team has been talking about a new idea that we thought our listeners might possibly enjoy. Rather than discuss a bunch of obscure games every week that some of you may have never heard of, we thought it might be cool to actually offer you a resource to learn more about those games -- a recap, if you will. It's with that thought in mind that we proudly introduce Retroforce Recap, a feature that you can use as a supplement to the podcast if you're interested in finding out more about the games we discuss on the show.

Anyway, as I'm sure you know, this week's topic was Naughty Retro games, and you can get that episode here. To learn a little more about the games we talked about this week, follow me past the jump where I will do my best to educate you without making too many cheesy sex puns!
