[Editor's note: VGMari went to Megacon in Orlando last week on behalf of Destructoid. Check out the gallery for some cosplay action! -- CTZ]

Last weekend at Megacon I was hunting for any and all videogame related items and events. Unfortunately, there wasn't a whole lot but what they did manage to have was pretty cool. For those of you who don't know Megacon, it's the largest comic book/sci-fi/fantasy/anime convention in the state of Florida located in Orlando. It's where all of us Florida geeks congregate.

One of the highlights of the convention was the amount of awesome gaming cosplay. There were great Street Fighter, Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat cosplayers. My personal favorite were the Phoenix Wright cosplayers. I loved them so much I needed to use them as the title image.

The game room had your average game room staples -- Super Smash Bros Brawl, Soul Calibur IV and Halo 3 to name a few. It wasn't a very big area and it was difficult to move around. Although, on the bright side, I did not smell any con funk (which is rare, FYI). There wasn't a whole lot of videogame vendors but the few that were there had some decent merchandise. There was one vendor with a great selection of imports and another with a great selection of classic US releases. And at nearly every anime store there were Japanese videogame related items such as Final Fantasy figures and rings, Tecmo and Capcom gashapon and there was even a cute little Love and Berry purse.

Although the amount of videogame related content at Megacon this year was underwhelming, they fraking DELIVERED when it came to the sci-fi content. Featuring guests such as Tricia Helfner (the hot blonde #6 Cylon from Battlestar Galactica), James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar from Battlestar Galactica) and Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones on Torchwood) just to name a few. The sci-fi vendors were plentiful, did not disappoint and I even picked up some sweet BSG patches. Other BSG highlights included replica props and costumes from the original series. That Cylon head blew my mind.

All in all, Megacon 09 was filled with all sorts of geek awesomeness -- especially for Battlestar Galactica fans.

So say we all.

[Editor's note: VGMari gives us a indepth look at Tsunku, the man responsible for the Rhythm Tengoku series. -- CTZ]

Rhythm Tengoku has to be one of the most creative and fun games ever made for the GBA. Even after I swore off all my old GBA games after I got my shiny new DS, I still played through the first Rhythm Tengoku. I thoroughly enjoyed it and ached for more Tsunku goodness. I know I'm a little "late" to be writing about this game since it's been out for a few years and the new DS game, Rhythm Tengoku Gold has been out for six months, but I noticed there was a serious lack of Rhythm Tengoku blogs here.

I must fix that.

This blog is a musical journey through time and space. Okay, not really. It's just a musical journey through Tsunku's career. Tsunku co-produced Rhythm Tengoku and wrote most of the songs for the games. He's worshiped in Japan for being THE Original Idol Master and I think the best way to show how and why is to showcase his music.
