Forums, we have them: November edition photo

[Forums, we have them is a monthly recap of all that's gone down in the forums the previous month.]

Here we are again for another edition of FWHT. We had a busy month in the Forums. I've added some new Forum sections, we've got new badges (for a current total of 31, that's all of them in the header pic) and I also have access to the wonderfully industrious community at Vbulletin.org, which means I've got new toys to play with. Memes were started and cataloged. It's been a heck of a month!

We've got quite a few people over there in the Forums, it's been so busy! Did you know The Bar thread is over 1000 PAGES now? Yeah, GamesAreArt got the first post of page 1000. It's actually at page 1117 as I write this. I know there is a lot more of you that haven't come over and checked us out. For those of you who haven't been over to the Forums yet, find out what you've been missing after the jump.

Forums, we have them: October edition photo

It's that time again! Welcome to the October edition of Forums: We have them. This month, I've got a brief PAX recap, we did some updates to the Forums to make it mesh with the front page, we got a couple of new badges and finally a pretty important poll I would like you to vote in that will be used to direct some of the design of the forums going forward.

So without further ado, let's hit that jump and talk about some Forums eh?

Forums: We have them September edition photo

Welcome to the next installment of the Forums: We have them article. This month I’m not going to talk about PAX. That’s the hip thing right now and I’m excited, but I figure I’ll save those stories until next month. This month I’m taking a lead from the Weekly Musing and the PAX panel.

I’m going to talk about the community and more specifically the Forum community. I think it's high time I gave the whole lot of you some serious props for being awesome. So let's get to it shall we?

Forums, we have them: August edition photo

The countdown to PAX begins!  It's about one month until Destructoid descends on PAX once again and it should be one hell of a good time. PAX is a big deal for Destructoid and a lot of people are excited,  but that is the future.  We are here to talk about the past, specifically what happened last month in the forums.

Besides the discussion that takes place every day in The Bar and Pictures thread, last month we had a posting guide, some new badges, a push to get some discussion going in the gaming section and also set some new records.

So let's talk about what happened in the last month on the Forums as we do our last pre-PAX recap.
The jump, you must follow me to it!

Here we are, back again to regale you of tales of wonder and astonishment. Tales so frightening they will cause your hair to turn white. Tales so humorous, you literally bust a gut laughing. Tales … OK, I’ll stop.

So what happened in Forum land over the last month? Quite a bit! Why don’t you follow me and we can talk about it?

Forums, we have them: June edition photo

It’s another month and time for another update on the Forums.

The biggest thing that happened is the creation of a new section of the Forums. Inspired by the mighty Dyson of RetroforceGO! fame, we created the “Trade yo games!” trading section of the Forums. It all started with a thread that Dyson began in the RetroforceGO! forum, titled “RetroforceGO!'s Great Game Trading Thread of Justice!!” and we took that and ran with it.

The section of the forum has a simple setup. You make a thread listing what you are willing to trade then you list what you want and then you wait for the private messages to roll in. It’s been an amazing success as we have had many successful trades and I encourage everyone to check it out if you have anything you are looking for/want to get rid of. Please make sure you read the special rules for the Forum and get your trade on. We also have a thread there for Goozex as well so you can discuss, set up trades and connect in that manner too.

The forums themselves have been humming along quite well. We didn’t set any records this month but usage continues to rise. The gaming discussion forums will be hopping with E3 announcements soon and remember that we also have threads for most popular releases so you can talk about the game, trade tips, do your own reviews and whatever you like. More after the break.

Destructoid has Forums?

That’s a question that gets asked around here quite a bit. The answer to that question is very much YES.

For those of you that are new to Destructoid or maybe haven’t paid attention to the “other side” of the site, allow me to give you a bit of a recent history lesson.

First off, I’m Technophile (or just Will) and I’m the admin/manager of the Destructoid forums. I’ve been here on the site officially since December 2007 and lurked before that. I became admin of the forums in December of 2008. I come from a background of community management in the games industry and I’m a gamer. Enough about me though, let’s get on with the history lesson.
