Yesterday, Haley posted the first Soul Calibur Legends trailer and he wasn't too impressed with. I must say I agree with him in terms of the graphics: the games textures look pretty washed out and I think the Wii is capable of better then this (I'm pretty sure even Soul Calibur II on the game GameCube looked better). I can't say anything about the controles yet.
On the other hand, the first trailer of Soul Calibur IV was released today and this one looks really good. I was already hyped by the scans with all the pretty pictures that were released before, but to watch the boo ... game fluid and in motion is really impressive. There is just a bit too much lighting around the models but I think that's what they call "next-gen" these days.
And here is the next new video from E3. In the last few months, we have posted first images and teasers of Project Gotham Racing 4 and, as you can tell from the footage, this game looks fantastic so far.
In the last few days, however, Bizarre Creations confirmed that there will be two-wheeled vehicles in the game and that you'll be able to take part in any kind of race with both motorcycles and cars. In my opinion this simple idea adds a whole new layer to the gameplay and I can only imagine how great it will be to actually maneuver through gaps or just look cool doing tricks.
I only wonder: What will happen when a car hits your bike? Will there be an invisible area around your bike that pushes you every time a car touches you, or will they actually implement crash-scenes where you can see yourself fall off of your bike? What do you guys think?
These Grand Theft Auto IV scans are from the latest issue of the British gaming mag Games TM. The 7-page-long exclusive preview contains details about the gameplay and some brand new in-game pics that make me feel all warm inside. Here's a quick list with some of the notes from the article:
*The cell you saw in the trailer appears to be a big part of the game. Instead of buying weapons at Ammu-Nation you can call "Little Jakob", a caribbean weapon dealer, who will provide you with guns.
*There is a menswear store called "Perseus"
*The "Tw@ Café" internet Café from GTA III is back. You can surf the Internet from every computer in the game.
*You will be able to use taxis to get around. You can watch the drive from the ego-perspective or you can skip the whole thing by pressing the proper button.
*Every crime committed increases the wanted level. As soon as you reach a certain level a search area appears on the radar. If you escape from such an area without being spotted by pedestrians/cops, the wanted level falls back. If you are spotted by a witness, the area changes to the place where you were last spotted.
Sounds to me like they want to make this chapter more realistic. What do you guys think? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? The shift in how your wanted level works will have a huge impact on the game -- instead of just hoping you didn't get seen, you'll have to be a bit more careful with your indiscriminate killing.
Check out all the scans below in their Brit-tastic glory.

As promised, Electronic Gaming Monthly managed to get a first look at Soul Calibur IV, and here are the scans from the magazine. The level of detail in the graphics includes "leather straps on Ivy's thighs make real-time indentations into her skin as she fights," and even "ridiculously endowed ninja gal Taki, who demonstrates what happens now that consoles can chum out superflucous polygons to render realistic nipples under a skintight leotard."
In my opinion, Soul Calibur I is the best 3D fighting game ever released, and after two dull sequels, this one seems to bring a fresh breeze into the series. You can check out the other impressive in-game scans below.
[Update: No one listens to me around here, but they do listen to lawyers. The images have been removed at the request of Ziff-Davis. They can be seen in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, which I highly recommend you go out and buy, because -- come closer, I have a secret -- print is not dead. -Nick]
It took them long enough, but finally somebody at Infinity Ward realized that we have enough WWII shooters.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the first chapter of their successful series that plays in present times, and I think it's about time they went in that direction, especially as other developers have been making the jump themselves. This first multiplayer footage provides a short insight into the Last Stand Mode and as you would expect from a Call of Duty game, it looks awesome and intense.
They really mean business this time. Yesterday a new and crappy scan of Duke Nukem Forever appeared on the 3D Realms forums. The image shows a dark room filled with stuff that can't be expressed properly by a non-hardcore fan like me. After various scan and photoshop jobs however, the first better quality images were uploaded and ... I still can't make out what the hell is going on. Maybe this is a Chinese myth dragon or something, I don't know. Hopefully a high resolution picture will be released soon.
After the highly detailed corporate Web site launched for Haze's fictional Mantel Global Industries, it left many of us wondering how deep the game's story might secretly be. Given the information for several fake products and activities, it made us think about why those details were provided, and what other information wasn't being shared. We know that Mantel Global Industries is a corporation that basically rules a good portion of the world with hostile force thanks to their mysterious "Nectar" substance. So what else is there to know?
With the power to alter your physical abilities by using this addictive drug, the video above shows the many ways to play a Mantel Global Industries combat squad leader. Sure, the rough outline of the story behind Haze seems pretty simple, maybe even boring. When I saw the first screenshots it looked like a knock-off of Crysis to me. Although, after watching the video after the jump, it looks like Free Radical is pushing the story further than I thought they would. The two amusing French guys in the interview weren't very impressed at first either, but if you watch to the end you'll see the beginning of a few intriguing twists Haze has in store for us.
"See, most previews I read/watch are just too damn positive. They focus purely on what looks awesome and don't give so much as a nod to any possible pitfalls in the design. That being said, this w..."...
I've been looking forward to this game since the first few screenshots were released nearly one year ago. Finally a new trailer has arrived on the Internets and I really like the premise of it. Those two psychopaths kind of remind me of the "Gecko Brothers" from From Dusk Till Dawn and as you can see in the first trailer, the game also seems to be inspired by Michael Mann movies, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. No specific release date has been set yet, but you can expect it to hit the shelves somewhere in Q4 this year.
"Thank you very much for this information.

Though most insider gaming journos already saw this demo during X06 last year in Barcelona, some of you, including me, have not. What do you get to see in this latest peek into BioShock? How about force powers, fire, and a wholla lotta shootin' going on.

The little girl freaks me out. ..."...
I don't know exactly why The Darkness reminds me so much of Max Payne, but so far it does. Maybe it's the gloom of the game or maybe the noir-ish atmosphere, I don't know. What I do know is that the graphics, especially the animations, are looking really good. Enjoy this short gameplay video from the Comic Con 07.
OK, here we go again with one of those popular lists. This time, Gametrailers counts down the top 5 best looking PC games of 2006. But they don't stop there. They also list the 5 best looking PC games for 2007. Surprisingly, games like Alan Wake or Unreal Tournament 2007 didn't make the list, but I think it is still a neat recapitulation of what's coming up this year. So do you guys have any suggestions for improvement?
Damn, this game is going to be awesome. Square Enix has released a new Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings trailer that finally shows off some real gameplay for this DS title. I'm not the biggest fan of the Final Fantasy series, but this trailer is impressive. Just take a look at the number of characters battling all over the screen. The mix of retro style sprites and 3D backgrounds adds that nostalgic touch to the game as well. I could see it as the next big hit for the DS. Check it out here also.
Bungie just released a documentary about the Brutes in Halo 3 upon Xbox Live, but you can watch it here, now! Yeah I know, usually I don't care about Brutes either, but I guess this is a good opportunity to get a first idea about how this game will look. Nice inside look Bungie, keep these vids coming.
Yesterday, Spike TV aired a Game Head episode featuring Mr. Reggie Fils-Aime. In the episode, he and Geoff Keighley continued their battle that started back in February this year with a go kart race. This time they were bowling and Wii bowling, but the world premierefor thetrailerof SSX Blur was the highlight. It is the latest installment of EA's popular snowboard franchise and actually looks pretty great to me. Especially in comparison to the most other and less impressive looking games for the Wii. I'm just curious how the controls will turn out.
"Yeah, don't bother. On Tour is big waste of money; skiing added a whole lot of nothing to the game.
But looking at the video again, the guy on the board has a huge head, which I guess means the ..."...
