It was just a matter of time, I suppose, before the boys at South Park had a go-round with World of Warcraft. To kick off their 10th season, Cartman, Kyle, Kenny and Stan get the WoW treatment in the first episode entitled "Make Love, Not Warcraft". No doubt this will be hilarious, so set your DVRs for Oct. 4th (that's *TODAY*)! Here's a little sneak peek...

C3PO A few weeks ago I clued you in on my "special" robot status, and after many years of thinking I was the only one, I ran across this page called Gay Robots which lays claim to being the ONLY website dedicated to gay robots on the interwebs, and who am I to argue? It's really very clever and done with a great sense of humor. I got quite a few good laughs out of it. Listees include the Transformers' Track, Twiki from Buck Rogers, and of course, C3PO! From Gay Robots:
C3P0: The gayest robot of them all ... A true drama queen, C3PO always threw a hissy fit at the first sign of trouble. And when it was time for battle, Star Wars' resident robo-queer always cowered and watched Luke and Han whip out their Light Sabres. Although he was completely useless, C3PO taught other robots that it's OK to be gay.

Maybe they sould start selling this t-shirt on their site...

Rule Of Rose
I have been looking forward to this game for a while, but nothing I had seen could really prepare me for the experience of playing it. Let me say right off the bat, that this game is not for everyone. It is definitely a niche market game, and if you are looking for non stop, in your face, let's go kill everything in sight action, this is not the game for you. However, if you are like me and looking for something moody, cerebral and very bizarre, you'll probably really like it. Rule of Rose is an odd bird in the world of gaming, a sort of Alice in Wonderland by way of Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and Haunting Ground. The emphasis is definitely not on combat, there is a lot of exploring and puzzle solving and keeping out of danger. Not to say there isn't any combat, it's just very limited. The choice of weapons runs to the table setting ilk, a fork, a carving knife; the perfect weapons for stabbing the hideous enemies that look like something out of an Edvard Munch painting. The things that have really struck me about it so far have been the period atmosphere, the music and the constant feeling of walking around in someone else's creepy nightmare. The plot is moved along by text displays much in the style of the cards used in silent films. You are literally living out a storybook plot that is being written as you play.

Ok, I looked all through the archives and couldn't find this posted before, but I may be wrong. In any case, this is a great Nintendo commercial featuring lots of running, jumping, game ravenous Japanese school children and a very surreal ending. As an added bonus, I also dug up the "making of" video on YouTube. Enjoy! First the commercial:
Now, the "making of" video:

mario_atomik.jpg Fortunately, my never ending journey to dig up new and interesting fan- art has brought me to several new sites including DeviantART. The latter is where I ran across artist Marques Cannon or GuitarAtomik as he is known on DA. Having run a search on "video games", I was slogging through the mediocre offerings when Marques' work caught my eye like a jewel in a mud pit. This is not to say that DeviantART doesn't have it's share of amazing artists, but this one was special. Using a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator and an amzingly active imagination, Marques has given some of our favorite video game heroes a beauty makeover and the results are stunning. The series, entitled "Video Girls", has a wide range of subjects including The Prince of the Cosmos, Dante, Mario, Mega-Man and Kratos, all reworked as sexy women. Luckily for us, he has started creating prints of his work, although at the moment, only his "Dante" is available. His DeviantART gallery has the whole series, plus a lot more of his work that is equally as fabulous. this is truly some of the best work I've seen in some time. See more GuitarAtomik on GayGamer

I don't know how I missed out on this one, it must have been all the birthday excitement, but Atlus publishing opened the U.S version of the Rule Of Rose Website on Aug.18. The front page says the game will be hitting stores Sept. 12 for PS2! Why, that's just two weeks away. I have been beside myself with anticipation ever since I saw the haunting trailer back in November. If you are fan of survival horror of the "Haunting Grounds" and "Fatal Frame" types, you should definitely check out this game! The website offers a story synopsis, icon and desktop downloads, gameplay tips, character breakdowns and the infamous trailer! I love anything with zeppelins. Check it out! Big thanks to Alex for the heads up!

Gearing up for it's November 11 Japanese release, Sony has rolled out the Japanese website for the PS3 so it can't be long before the U.S. version of the site comes out...right? There are a few pictures and a spec sheet and a list of games, although it is mostly in Japanese. they have also launched something known as the PS3 Concept Site. I have no idea what it's all about although it does have a few videos. Enjoy! via Kotaku
