[New releases is your weekly look at all the hot new titles coming out this week.]

It's Thanksgiving week and that means next to nothing is coming to retail this week. In fact, the hot stuff is mostly digital titles. We brought you an early review of Bit.Trip Void for WiiWare and we thought it was a pretty good game.

Other than that, Madden NFL Arcade looks like it could be fun. What's looking sw33t to all of you? Hit the break for the full list of releases and some trailers.

[New releases is your weekly look at all the hot new titles coming out this week.]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii hit store shelves this past Sunday. At first, I was completely against the new Mario game based on my feelings towards New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. It's up there with Super Mario Sunshine as one of the worst Mario games to me. But, after seeing the latest videos and reading our review, it looks like the new Mario game will be pretty great!

Other big releases this week include Left 4 Dead 2, Assassin's Creed II, Tony Hawk Ride and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. It's a pretty jam-packed week of good releases this week, folks. What's looking sw33t to you?

Hit the break for the full list of releases and trailers for most of the games as always.

[New releases is your weekly look at all the hot new titles coming out this week.]

The most anticipated game of the year is finally here: Activision and Infinity' Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hits store shelves tomorrow and it's no doubt going to be one of the biggest sellers of the year. Two other Call of Duty titles are coming to the Wii and DS, along with a couple of new Dragon Ball Z games, a couple of new Harvest Moon titles hit and as usual, a bunch of shovelware garbage lands on the Wii and DS too.

This week's major release is Dragon Age: Origins for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It's the latest and greatest from Bioware and takes gamers to the past rather than the future. Oh, and it's going to let Brad Nicholson ride dragons ... I think.

Speaking of the future, a couple of new Star Wars games are out. Well, actually, they're both re-releases in a way. Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron makes the jump to the PSP and DS and Star Wars The Force Unleashed is getting re-released with new additions on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Activision and Warner Bros. are going head-to-head again with the release of Band Hero and Lego Rock Band. And rounding out the releases are a handful of games from Ubisoft which includes Rabbids Go Home.

Plenty to choose from this week, Dtoiders! What's looking sw33t to you? Hit the break for the full release schedule, trailers and preview links for most of the games.

The second expansion to Grand Theft Auto IV is out this week and it's hitting two fronts. The Ballad of Gay Tony will available for download and both downloadable episodes will also be for sale on a physical disc at retail stores. I'm looking forward to the new episode, but will wait until it eventually goes on sale.

Other big titles out this week include the rhythm game DJ Hero and Forza Motorsport 3, which we gave a 10/10 to in our review.

Not much in major releases this week, which is a good thing as last week was jammed packed full of goodness. It's also especially a good thing for Borderlands as it has no real competition this week, as far as action games go.

Otherwise, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 and FIFA Soccer 10 are a couple of biggies this week too. They always do well in sales, even if not much has changed from the previous years. Sports games!

This week sees a ton of major releases for all three major consoles. The one that's been getting the most attention is the PlayStation 3 exclusive, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Reviews have been between 9s and 10s in most places so far and it's looking like Uncharted 2 will be a strong contender for game of the year.

Double Fine's much anticipated Brutal Legend is finally out this week for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There was a point many feared this game would never see the light of day, but the time has finally come for us to rock the f**k out.

Rounding out the major releases is the Wii exclusive A Boy and His Blob. The game is ridiculous cute, extremely gorgeous and should please fans of the old classic.

LittleBigPlanet PSP officially dated for November photo

If there is one thing I can always have more of (and there isn't, there are many things) it's more LittleBigPlanet. I don't own a PSP though, so more LBP is not coming my way any time soon. For those of you who do own a PSP or possibly one of those new fangled PSPgos (PSPgoes?) there is now an official date for the game's release. That day is... wait for it... wait for it... Nov. 17. That's about as far as I can drag this out.

However, thanks to Hamza "I Change Boring Pictures" Aziz's recent editorial change of a previous post I've decided to make this post as exciting as possible with a totally unrelated image of Obama punching a zombie in the face. How's that? Exciting enough for you? Bet you didn't know the President could kill zombies with his bare hands. Since I know you're going to ask and we like to source our awesome images, it's by Tina Seamonster. She makes with the awesome.

Lots of good picks for this week, folks! Critter Crunch is a must get, Dead Space Extraction looks to be fun and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PlayStation 3 is a no brainer. It has six-axis boob jiggling technology!

Other big titles include two for the handhelds. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the DS and Gran Turismo for the PSP. In fact, the PSP is getting quite a few good games this week. About time, right?

I like the late night Sunday post because it means that i know one of my stories is going to be seen on Monday morning when everyone gets to work and immeadiatley starts not doing work by reading Destructoid. Thus I am wont to save something extra special for the slot on some occasions and I can't think of a more deserving subject than Machinarium. Above we have a brief new trailer for the beautiful point-and-click puzzle/adventure game and below we have some new concept artwork. We've also been informed that the digital release date for the game is going to be Oct. 16.

In case you've missed our previous coverage of what looks to be one of the best looking games of the year Machinarium is from the creators of Samorost and Samorost 2, so you know the high quality pedigree is there. On top of that it stars a robot and features an amazingly unique animated look to it. Even more on top of that Chad "Loves awesome things" Concelmo loves the game. There's a demo level floating around out there somewhere that I've played, but I'm having trouble finding it. Maybe I just dreamed it. After all, what are dreams made of but wonderfully illustrated puzzle/adventure games?

Happy Kwanzaa? FF Crystal Bearers' suicidal release date photo

The long delayed, often thought dead Final Fantasy Crystal Chronciles: The Crystal Bearers finally has a US release date. In what will surely be remembered as one of the most clever, or the most stupid ideas for a holiday game release in the history of holiday game releases, Square-Enix has decided to put the game out on December 26, 2009. A first-day-of-Kwanzaa release date has rarely been pulled off with much success, but given how many attractive looking Wii games are coming out between now and January, it sort of makes sense. We've got Silent Hill, Dead Space, Ju-On, Resident Evil, A Boy and His Blob, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii all coming out before December, then No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle coming in January.

Still, December 26? The day after Christmas? Wouldn't the day before Christmas be safer, or maybe the week before? Ah well, best of luck to 'em. I know I'll be buying the game regardless of when it's released.

Fairytale Fights gets a release date photo

Fairytale Fights, the game which mashes together children's bedtime stories and puts vicious and bloody twist on them, has had its release date announced today. Playlogic will be dropping the game on October 23rd in Europe, followed by North America on October 27th. A PC release is currently slated for 2010.

Ben Perlee liked what he saw in our recent preview of the game, noting its attention to detail in the bright, cartoonish environments and a considerable amount of gore. I love when classic stories get this kind of treatment, so I'm looking forward to seeing if Playlogic is capable of turning out a strong effort with this one.

A full press release is available after the jump. Is anybody else thinking about picking this one up?

MAG has an official release date photo

We all probably felt a little disappointed when the predictable news came around that MAG would be pushed back into 2010. The chance to get online in the biggest multiplayer battles ever moved even further away? Boo to that, I say. However, now we at least have a date to mark on our calendars as the Playstation.Blog has revealed that MAG will be landing on January 26, 2010. That's not that far after Christmas so we should all have some money left over.

If you're really impatient you can go over to PS.Blog and try to get some hands-on time with the game at PAX on Friday, which would probably be one of those great stories you can tell everyone when you're drinking with Mr. Destructoid later that night. PS.Blog is also going to be offering up a few special events to their readers so keeping tuned in would be a good idea if you think that Jan. 26 is just too far away.

Undead Knights rises in October photo

Jim Sterling and I both got our hands on Undead Knights at E3 and came away from the game with a delicious taste in our mouth. It was the taste of fun. Before this day we didn't know when we would be able to taste Undead Knights specific fun taste again, and our mouths watered and whimpered a little like sad puppies. However, thanks to Siliconera, we have news that Undead Knights will be hitting Japan on October 15, and the US some time near that date as well. I'd wager a near-Halloween release since the game is about zombies and all.

If you haven't been paying attention, the game lets you build ladders, bridges and other rudimentary constructions out of zombies that you create from enemy soldiers and then command. There's other gameplay mechanics in there that you can read up on, but if zombie ladders don't get your blood flowing for a PSP game, I don't know what will. Oh, maybe breasts.

Bit.Trip Core's release date revealed, also Michael Jackson photo

Those sexy bastards at Gaijin Games excel at cryptic blogs. When you actually talk to them face to face, they are extremely straightforward, articulate, and insightful, but when they start blogging about their games, they just love to tease.

Yesterday, they posted the above image on their official site, with the monosyllabic title "CORE" along with it. From that, I think we can guess that Bit.Trip Core will be released on WiiWare on July 6th, and that it will be the 100th WiiWare game. Awesome news. After playing the game at E3, I've been racked by suspense, wondering if I would end up loving Core more, less, or the same as Bit.Trip Beat. Looks like it wont be long before I find out.

Also, they just whipped up a tribute to Michael Jackson, and it's quite classy. Check it out in the gallery.

Nintendo DLC: Mighty Flip Champs is flippin' sexy photo

If puzzles are your game, and you're looking for some new DSi software, then Mighty Flip Champs! (1 Player, 800 DSi Points) might be up your alley. The game is a maze runner, but in order to solve any of them, you have to flip back and forth between the two mazes on your DS screen. Dale has a preview of the game coming up later today, in which he says the game is, "original and highly addictive puzzle title that oozes style and retro appeal" -- something to be expected from developer WayForward.

If Square-Enix is your overlord, then rejoice, for today is the day the sequel to Final Fantasy IV hits Wiiware. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (1 Player, 800 Wii Points) is, as it sounds, set years after the events of the original where, shockingly, monsters have started reappearing in the world, wreaking all sorts of havoc. So it's up to the old team, along with familiar friends, to save it.

Then there's also Texas Hold 'Em (1-6 Players, 500 Wii Points) for you card fans, which will let you play, you guessed it, Texas Hold 'Em online with up to five other people online. Hey, the game also has full Mii support!

And finally, for you Retroforce fans, today's Virtual Console title is Boulder Dash (1-2 Players, Commodore 64, 500 Wii Points). The game will have you reliving those old memories of digging for diamonds while attempting not to be smashed into a pancake by boulders galore. As for me? After the game's release, it took me another three years to be born.

So, enjoy this week's releases from Nintendo!

Wallace & Gromit, Yosumin Live hitting XBLA next week photo

It's Memorial Day this coming Monday and that means the Internet will pretty much be dead since no one is really working that day, including Major Nelson. Because of the holiday, the Major has given us a early look at what's coming out on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday.

The first episode of Telltale's Wallace & Gromit: Fright of the Bumblebees is out on Wednesday and will be going for 800 MS Points. Square Enix's Yosumin Live will also be out for 800 MS Points.

Hasbro Family Game Night is also getting Boggle for 800 MS Points. This, by the way, will bring the full cost of Family Game Night to $60 when all of the DLC is added together.

Well, nothing really exciting to me. How about you? Looking forward to these games?

It's another slow week in terms of videogame releases. The only one I'm interested in this week is Pop Cap's Plants vs. Zombies. I've been hearing nothing but good things about it and it does look pretty fun.

Bit.Trip Beat to hit WiiWare this Friday, unless it doesn't photo

Word straight from Gaijin games is that their new-retro classic Bit.Trip Beat is finally being released on Europe's WiiWare service this Friday. Europeans have been complaining for a while that they haven't gotten the game yet, as they enjoy their fine teas and jellies, not to mention all the games that Nintendo of America will never release in the United States like Disaster: Day of Crisis and Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Ruppeeland.

Thing is, this is WiiWare we're talking about, and WiiWare is notoriously unreliable when it comes to release schedules. Nintendo of Europe may have told Gaijin Games that Bit.Trip Beat is coming out on Friday, but they still have two days to suddenly change their mind. Those poor Europeans will just have to wait until Friday to know for sure.

That's quite a long wait. Hope you guys got plenty of jellies!

New releases is your look at all the new games that are out this week.

I know the main header has nothing to do with the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie and game, but it is pretty awesome! Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to both the movie and game! Other than that, I might give Velvet Assassin a go and might pick up Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier because of all the boobs.

Gundam Wing was my favorite Gundam anime. Speaking of Gundam, have any of you ever played the Gundam game for the Dreamcast? It was one of the best games on the Dreamcast in my opinion.

Anyway, not much is out this week. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 could be a lot of mindless fun. I'm kind of surprised that Excitebots: Trick Racing is out this week. I haven't seen any adverting for this game at all. Have you?

Well, not much of anything is out this week that interests me. It's a good week for Atlus fans and fans of the Samurai Shodown series. Otherwise, the next few weeks of releases are going to be pretty dry.

As always, the full list of releases and videos for most of the games are all after the jump. What's looking sw33t to you this week, Dtoiders?

Nintendo's new little handheld hit store shelves yesterday. It has a bunch of new features including cameras and downloadable games. But is it worth it? Personally, I'm going to wait awhile before picking one up. What about you? Planning on getting one soon or are you going to wait too?

As for games, I'm planning on picking up The Godfather II and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena this week. The Godfather II has some really fun multiplayer modes and I've been waiting for my second chance to finally beat Escape from Butcher Bay

Rumortoid: Wii Fit Plus listing spotted in Amsterdam photo

Wii Fit gets a lot of hate from the hardcore. And as a symbol of casual gaming and Nintendo's unstoppable success and overwhelming popularity in the face of said hate, it's easy to understand why. However, with success comes sequels and according to this shot from GoNintendo reader Maxemillian_X the sequel to more Wii Fit is on the way in the form of Wii Fit Plus, which one assumes would work with with both the balance board and Wii MotionPlus.

The listing has the game hitting in November of this year and coming bundled with a balance board for those who don't have one already. Also of note is the July release of Wii Sports 2: Resort. Of course these are European release dates, and we all know how Nintendo likes to treat Europe like a red headed step child. This means we could be seeing Wii Fit Plus far sooner in the North American areas.

It's a pretty light list of releases again this week. If anything, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust holds my interests because I am a giant pervert and that game was made for perverts like me. Too bad the graphics look ridiculous.

Wii Shop Update: Bonsai Barber, Super Punch-Out!! photo

Relish in the title of this story, as it's the last "Wii Shop Update" you'll get. Starting next week, you'll start seeing it as the "Nintendo Download," as the updates will start including DSiWare titles. You excited? I can feel it.

This last week of the "Wii Shop Update" brings Bonsai Barber (Nintendo, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points) to WiiWare. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like -- a game where you give the inhabitants of a tree village haircuts. Nintendo calls it a "first-person groomer," and we all laughed. Very clever. Actually, it sounds kind of neat; but I'll be saving my own Wii Points for...

Super Punch-Out!! (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points), which happens to be one of my favorite videogames of all time. There's not much more than can be said about this now-classic sequel, but it's a good way to whet the appetites of gamers who might not be familiar with the series. One can only hope that the new Wii version of Punch-Out!! is half as good as this title.

So, will you be buying either of these things?

Of all the releases this week, only Wanted: Weapons of Fate has my interest. Still, I doubt I'll get the game anytime soon. It's probably a good thing that this week is dry as it just gives me plenty of time to devote to Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure.

The big release of the week is easily Pokemon Platinum, continuing the trend of March being the month of the Nintendo DS. Too bad there's so much shovelware on the DS week, too.

My game for this week is Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. It's an absolutely fun game and a must get for the Nintendo DS. I'm also thinking about getting Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. It looks pretty fun and reminds me a lot of the very first GTA game.

It's here. It's finally here! The long awaited sequel from one of the best videogame franchises around is out this week! I've been excited for Resident Evil 5 for a long time now and can't wait to pick this game up.

MadWorld is also out this week and it's easily a must for Wii owners. It's fun, it's bloody and it's something the Wii has been desperately needing for awhile now. Marble Saga: Kororinpa is another great Wii game coming out this week. It's frustratingly fun!

The big title this week is Halo Wars. I'm the resident Halo fanboy on staff and I know that I would enjoy Halo Wars. Yet, I have no intention of getting it anytime soon, even for the new maps. I just don't feel like it could be worth the full $60.

I do want to get  Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard and Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. as soon as possible though. I saw both games in action last year and know they'll be a ton of fun.

Wii Shop Update: Ogre Battle, Family & Friends Party photo

This weeks Wii Shop update features two games that, quite simply, couldn't be more opposite. So you have choices here ...

First, Family & Friends Party (Gammick Entertainment, 1-8 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points) is exactly what is sounds like -- a bunch of family-friendly mini-games wrapped in a neat little package. It's an "interactive board game" that up to eight people can play, with players being faced with challenges on each turn. It sounds a bit like a sterile version of Mario Party, no?

On the other end of the spectrum, there's Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (Super NES™, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points). Rated E, but not for everyone. Ogre Battle leans a bit more towards the "hardcore," a strategy-RPG that could scare off gamers who first picked up a Wii Remote so they could bowl in their living room. Magic, swords, tarot cards, ogres -- frightening stuff.

Also: "Nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrds!"

New releases this week: Killzone 2, Dead Rising, Star Ocean, Galactrix and more photo

Obviously the big title this week is Peggle: Dual Shot. OBVIOUSLY. I didn't care much for the original Killzone, but I've been mighty interested in Killzone 2 for awhile now. I hope it lives up to the hype. I'm also looking forward to all the fanboy rage.

The only game I plan on getting this week though, is Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard. It looks like it could be pretty fun storywise, but I am worried about the gameplay. Release date for Matt Hazard is actually next Tuesday. And as much as I'm hooked on Galaxtrix, I'm holding out for the PC version.

Wii Shop Update: Hudson's FPS title Onslaught and Commodore 64 madness photo

Nintendo sent us the details on the Wii Shop update a little late today, but it's kind of a big one. As Nintendo puts it, it's "a set of exciting firsts."

For example, Hudson's first-person shooter Onslaught (1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points) hits WiiWare today. As you might expect from a first-person shooter, it's got alien, humans, and shooting things. The game will also support Wi-fi functionality in "Onslaught," which let's you complete or team up with up to three other players. Looks decent for a downloadable title, but is not quite High Voltage's The Conduit

As expected, Commodre 64 games are coming to the North American Wii Shop Channel, and that day is today. And they're not messing around with this first update -- it's three classic games. The Last Ninja (1 player, 500 Wii Points), International Karate (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points), and Pitstop II (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) will all be available today. The games feature ninjas, karate, and driving ... in that order.

This week is full of win! Street Fighter IV, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, and Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? are all on my must get list. I know a good majority of you are going to be playing Street Fighter IV this week and will no doubt be the main attraction for Friday Night Fights this week.

I've played a good chunk of Prinny already and as fun as it is, it's really hard. Good thing you start off with 999 lives! Finally, I was pissed about the price for The Lost and Damned when it was announced, but Nick's preview convinced me that it's actually not that bad of a deal for what it offers.

If you're the kind of gamer that likes shooting crap, whoo boy! Is this the week for you, or what?

First up, Evasive Space (Yukes Company of America, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points) hits WiiWare. While we've been told it's technically a "space adventure" and not a "shooter," you will indeed be shooting things in over 20 missions ... in space! For more info, and to see if this is the kind of thing that floats your boat, check out our full preview from late last year.

No questions here about whether Life Force (NES, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) is a shooter. The side-scrolling Gradius spin-off is a classic, and if you recognize the title, you already know whether this game is worth your five bucks or not. Hint: Life Force supports the "Konami Code," which will give you 30 lives, in case you'll need them. Oh, and if you don't know what the "Konami Code" is, I'm either old or you don't like videogames as much as you think you do.

So, whad'ya buyin'?

You see that zombie killer whale? Yeah, that's a freaking boss in Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad for the Xbox 360. As if that game couldn't get any better. I've played both versions of Onechanbara a few times now and the games are stupid mindless fun.

After several weeks of a lot of shovelware and crap, the new release schedule is finally starting to look good again. F.E.A.R. 2 might be good, The House of the Dead: Overkill looks fun, and Retro Game Challenges is a must for the DS. Flower seems pretty interesting too and I look forward to having flower sex in the game.

Well, February is off to a bad start.

The only note worthy new releases goes to Burnout Paradise and Tenchu Stealth Assassins. I already own Burnout Paradise on the Xbox 360 so I'm pretty much set for this week's releases. I am tempted to get Tench though, because of this random Girls Gone Wild promotional video for the game.

What's looking sw33t to you this week?

WVC: Snowboard Riot, LONPOS, Sonic Chaos

XBLA: R-Type Dimensions

PSN: 3 on 3 NHL Arcade

PC: Burnout Paradise

Wii:
Ultimate Shooting Collection, Tenchu Stealth Assassins

DS: My World My Way, Phineas and Ferb, My English Coach

Wii Shop Update: Snowboard Riot, LONPOS, and Sonic Chaos photo

Nintendo continues its one-two combo this week with its Wii Shop releases. That is to say there's one Virtual Console release, and two original WiiWare titles on the service today. POW!

Sega's Sonic Chaos (Sega Master System, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) makes it Virtual Console debut, and yay! A 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game! Remember when Sonic games used to be "good"? Yeah, I miss that to. Sonic Chaos ain't bad, either; in fact, I'd say it's one of the better 2D Sonic games. Oh, and you can be Tails OMG!

Nintendo finally brings the puzzler LONPOS (1-4 players, 800 Wii Points) to North America, and fans of putting things into holes should be excited. A popular game of logic, LONPOS has you placing Pentominoes on a rectangular space, trying to fill the field completely. This WiiWare version of LONPOS supports Wi-fi, so you can download new puzzles, backgrounds, and see how stupid you are compared to other players (read: leaderboards).

You're going to want to bust out the Wii Balance Board for Snowboard Riot (Hudson Entertainment, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points), because well, the game supports it. And if a game supports it, you're going to want to use it, because God knows you've been too lazy to exercise. Snowboard Riot is just what you'd expect, a snowboard racing and battle title. Unlike other snowboard titles that support the Balance Board, this game lets you use missiles. Check out our preview to see if this is relevant to your interests.

Spending any money Wii Points this week?

The only game I'm slightly interested in this week is Afro Samurai. The game could be fun, I guess. The Chase is also a pretty good casual platformer for the DS, but not an instant buy for me. I guess I'll just be playing the Resident Evil 5 demo this week.

Wii Shop Update: Niki Rock 'n' Ball, Wonder Boy in Monster Land photo

What's this? Only two Wii Shop releases today? But they're really good ones, right? Well, I'm not going to make that call.

Bplus' "jump and roll" title, Niki - Rock 'n' Ball (1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) is today's lone WiiWare title. The game has you waving the Wii Remote around to control Niki -- in ball or rock form -- as you collect something call ZeLeLi pearls. It looks to essentially be a platformer, and you'll be hopping around environments using "the physics" to your advantage.

Then there's today's Virtual Console title, Wonder Boy in Monster Land (1 player, 500 Wii Points), which originally appeared on the Sega Master System in 1987. This game has you starting off as a near-naked boy, swatting at snakes and monsters with a stick. If you're good enough, you'll get a sword and some clothes, and then ... it's on.

So for $10, you can pick up this week's hot new Wii downloads. That's less than the price of two Taco Bell value meals, which is something I'm not willing to give up, unfortunately.
