Discountoid: Exercise games, murder and driving photo

It's Sunday, and that means it's time once again to see what is on sale this week.

Which is to say, not very much. If you were thinking about grabbing Wheelman, Best Buy has you covered at thirty bucks. Target has a few Wii exercise games knocked down a notch. GameStop has Assassin's Creed for $15 (used) this week which actually is a pretty fair price. And, if you're a member of Game Crazy's MVP program, you can take advantage of their Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale on used games through the end of today.

More deals follow after the jump. Remember, if you live in the UK, Gemsi has a very special list of bargains just for you over in the community blogs.

Discountoid: Cheap handhelds and Buy 2 Get 1 games! photo

Sometimes I like to fantasize about being John F. Kennedy. Except that I'd be smarter than to sic my brother on the Mafia after they helped ensure my presidential victory. And I wouldn't have abandoned those Cuban refugees. I'd still totally be tapping Marilyn, though. Some things just shouldn't change.

Some strong deals this week. GameStop is doing their annual "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" sale on used titles, so it might be a good time to swing by your local store and see what's on the table. Game Crazy has some serious savings on their used handheld units. And Target is offering gift cards when you buy some Xbox 360 stuff, including MS points!

Hit the jump for all the week's bargains. And, if you're in the UK, you should head over to Gemsi's cblog and check out what's on sale in your neighborhood.

Discountoid: Guitar Hero kits, House of the Dead and more photo

Okay, not a ton of deals this week but there are some significant ones. Best Buy has House of the Dead: Overkill marked down by twenty dollars. GameStop is blowing out their inventory on Guitar Hero World Tour bundles (but the deal ends today) and is having a big sale for the month of July on a host of other games. And I found a few good buys at Amazon too.

Also, in the event that you don't make it past the jump, I do want to point out that the Pikmin port for Wii (the one with the new controls) is Amazon's Deal of the Day today. It's only $15 and I am totally buying that.

Hit the jump for all the week's deals. And, if you're in the UK, make sure you check out Gemsi's blog for all the deals in your neck of the world.

Discountoid: Big sales on Wii and DS, plus other bargains! photo

My patriotism is not limited to merely one day. And it looks like I'm not alone. Acting in the American spirit of consumerism, there are some really good promotions this week. Finally, a little bit of rain in a rather long drought.

Best Buy is offering a "Buy 2 Get 3rd Free" sale on Nintendo DS games. Target went the "Buy 1 Get 1 Half Off" route and applied it to a slew of Wii games, some of which aren't even listed in their weekly ad so that the bargain hunter in you can hunt and peck for what's on sale. And Toys R Us is giving away gift cards with a number of titles.

Very solid week, overall. Hit the jump to see all of the week's bargains.

Discountoid: Xbox Live, HAWX, Lego Indy and more! photo

Happy Father's Day, everybody. I come bearing bargains.

Not that there's a lot to speak of. Amazon has some decent prices, with F.E.A.R. 2 on the verge of being a buy for me. Best Buy has HAWX on sale which is probably exciting for somebody. Gamestop seems to be going through a Metal Gear Solid phase with the third installment of the main series and a PSP title on the cheap. Oh, and there are some 12-month Xbox Live subscription cards at 20% off. Not bad.

Click below for more. I assure you that you will be less surprised by what you see there than if you ventured past the jump on the woman in the above photo.

Ubisoft games on today's Woot offer photo

I frequently check Woot in the wee hours of the night on the off-chance that I can score a sweet deal on something that I actually want. Sadly, it's usually only sprinkler heads.

Today, however, they have an offer for Ubisoft games conveniently contained on an 8Gb thumbdrive. When you order, you'll get your choice of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Lockdown, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30,
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
or Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. At $14.99 (plus $5 shipping), that's not a bad deal. Worst case scenario, you get an 8Gb flash drive for that price, after all.

By the way, yes, I did try to find a beautiful woman to insert into this post. The results of a Google search for "tig o bitties" were just too disturbing to put on the front page of Destructoid and I decided it was better to leave well enough alone. Better luck next time.

Discount alert: FLOCK! is half price on Steam this weekend photo

If you’ve been thinking about buying FLOCK!, today would be the perfect day to put down the coin. For the remainder of the weekend Capcom’s quirky sheep herding simulation is 50 percent off Steam. If that's not enough of a deal for you, check this: Steam Achievements and a juicy patch have recently been added. Groovy.

Our review of FLOCK! is still coming, but since I’m sitting right next to Conrad I believe I’ll go ahead and ask him what he thinks of the game. “I think it’s a lot of fun," he tells me. "I think it’s undersupported [on XBLA] by the online community and at 50 percent I don’t think there’s a logical reason for anyone not to pick it up."

I also just asked him who would win in a fight: Robocop or a T-Rex on the streets of Old Detroit. His answer may surprise even the most jaded dinosaur fan.

“Robocop,” Conrad says. "And the reason for that is that Robocop has mobility there. The T-Rex has to move around s--t. If we were talking about the Savannah, Robocop’s f---ked.”

Discountoid: EndWar, Call of Duty, other cheap stuff photo

If you can't be bothered to appreciate your mother, somebody else is bound to pick up the slack.

Fairly slim week, since I guess videogames aren't considered hot items on Mother's Day. That said, if you don't have a headset for your PS3 and you want one, you can do a lot worse than picking it up as part of an EndWar bundle from Target this week. The package comes out to ten bucks less than the price of the earpiece on its own.

Amazon has a fair price on F.E.A.R. 2 and GameStop has seriously cut the price on new copies of Tom Clancy's HAWX. And Best Buy would be a wise place to visit if you still don't have Call of Duty 4 or Street Fighter 4.Go and check out the week's deals after the jump.

Discountoid: Monster sales, Grand Theft Auto and more! photo

Feels like a really long time since there's been a Discountoid post, doesn't it? Well, it has and I apologize for that. Travel and other priorities have taken up a lot of my time lately but that's no excuse. Spanking opportunities will be available at PAX.

This week, Best Buy has a ton of games priced at $10 and there are some pretty good titles in their list. Plus, the big blue box has GTA: Chinatown Wars for DS at a great deal. Toys R Us has a promotion running on Wii games that can save you a good chunk of green along with a sale on all of their PlayStation 2 titles.

Also, it's the last week for GameStop's annual Game Days sale, where you can save up to 50% on new games. If you haven't been down to check it out yet, you're running out of time.

All of the week's deals follow the jump. Have a good weekend, gang.

Today's Amazon Gold Box deals are gaming bargains photo

Amazon's daily assortment of time-sensitive bargains goes with videogames today. For starters, the Deal of the Day is for Shaun White Snowboarding on every available platform. The PS3, PSP, Wii and PC versions are going for $30, while the 360 version is just a smidge under $18.

Of course, being that the videogame department of Amazon is getting the Gold Box treatment, there are "Lightning Deals" running throughout the day as well with little clues to help you guess what will be on the cheap. After a bit of casual deduction I suspect we'll be seeing Guitar Hero World Tour for PS2, Fallout 3 for PS3 and a Dynasty Warriors title on 360 (likely Samurai Warriors 2) among others.

The full list of Lightning Deal clues is after the jump. Can you guess them all?

Discountoid: Buy 1 Get 1 half, Game Days, more sales! photo

Okay, so, I've spent my weekend reconfiguring the layout of my office. What this means for me is having a space which is more like a living room and I'm now watching Hulu all the time. That's when I discovered Battle of the Bods, which might be the most vapid, senseless television program I have ever witnessed. Yet I cannot look away. Thank you, Fox Reality Network!

In deals this week, Toys R Us has a decent list of recently released titles in a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal. MadWorld is in there along with Resident Evil 5 and some other decent stuff. Meanwhile, GameStop has started their annual Game Days promotion, as they clear out inventory of new games and force people to buy used with discounts of up to fifty percent off. Best Buy and Target round out the week with an assortment of games on sale.

Hit the jump to see all the week's deals.

Discountoid: Sports games, Guitar Hero and more! photo

Time again to round up some of the week's better bargains.

Things have been a little slow as of late, but they appear to be picking up again. Amazon has several of the 2K sports games at strong savings and a few other titles at deep discounts. Best Buy is still running a little on the weak side, focusing on DS and Wii titles, but Call of Duty: World at War could be grabbed while keeping Hamilton in your pocket a little longer. They also have the wireless Les Paul guitar controller for 360 at fifty percent off with a further $10 savings if you buy Guitar Hero: Metallica.

Fry's Electronics has returned to Discountoid with their characteristic one game worth having, but it's a good deal nonetheless. Grab the new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Wii at a nice savings. Target also seems to be focusing on Guitar Hero, putting several iterations on sale.

Finally, if you've been holding out on getting Madden 07 for your PlayStation 2, GameStop has you covered by putting it at a phenomenal $5. No, that's not a typo. I can only assume that they're gearing up for their massive, annual Game Days sale next week and just decided to blow this one off.

All the deals, as usual, lie in wait after the jump. Going to be picking anything up this week?

Grab LittleBigPlanet cheap at GoGamer in the next 72 hours photo

Honestly, I only put the dollar signs there because I can't bear to stare into a Sackboy's soulless, dead eyes.

But hey, if you're down with LBP, then do I have a deal for you. GoGamer.com has the game in one of its "48 Hour Madness" promotions. What does this mean for you, the everyday gamer who wants their fix of user-generated platforming? A savings of almost $40, that's what.

It is a limited-time special, as indicated by the preceding paragraph, but it actually lasts a bit longer than 48 hours. You have until the clock strikes midnight (Pacific Daylight Savings Time) on Saturday, March 21st before this bargain turns into a pumpkin. A pumpkin made of burlap and filled with what I hope is sand but is probably a million wriggling maggots. God, those Sackboys creep me the hell out.

[Thanks, darktravesty!]

Discountoid: F.E.A.R. 2, Overlord, Spongebob and more photo

It's Sunday morning at Dtoid HQ and we're all a little worse for wear. Just because I'm bleary-eyed does not mean I can't still sniff out a bargain, though.

So what are the deals this week? Gamestop seems to be pushing Spongebob and Resident Evil, which is a pretty strange combination for an ad circular. If you're willing to trade in a couple of games from their list, however, you can score $40 off of a purchase of Resident Evil 5. Target and Best Buy have disappointing offers, if any. And Amazon has a number of decently marked down games to choose from.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and try to eat this hangover away. Feel free to talk about what games you're interested in picking up this week. Or the STDs you already grabbed from a weekend of partying. Whatever.

Discountoid: Little Big Planet, Call of Duty 4 and more photo

Little Big Planet is on sale at Amazon. Let's move on, shall we?

It's that period in the week where we realize that we're broke after a weekend of partying but will still need to get our gaming fix. Sounds like the right time for deals. Sadly, we still aren't getting a lot of economic relief from the week's ads. Best Buy does have Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year for a decent price. GameStop has used copies of Rock Band for anyone who skipped straight to the sequel and want cheap songs.

On Amazon, Little Big Planet gets a fair discount, along with a few other PS3 titles. And if you need a Memory Stick for your PSP, I've found a 60% discount for you.

Target, once again, disappoints us with absolutely nothing. Hit the jump and chide them for being such failures.

Discountoid: Too Human, Mirror's Edge, EndWar and more photo

Time for deals? Okay, in all seriousness, I found this image attached to a blog and spent twenty minutes scrolling through years of updates trying to discern what the context for it was. I was disappointed. Not in the boobs, mind you, but the content did not live up to the hopeful expectation.

Speaking of which, we have another highly disappointing week when it comes to bargains. Best Buy has only one game on sale this week, and it's a measly ten bucks off of Left 4 Dead, but they do have the Xbox Live bundle with chatpad and 12-month service at a really good price.

Gamestop does a bit better, although most of the games aren't things I'm interested in. They still manage to do better than Target, who have absolutely no games on sale this week. Depressing.

All of this means that I had to scour Amazon extra hard this week, but I did come up with a few good deals.  Lost Planet for PS3 has a decent sale price, as does Tom Clancy's EndWar for PS3 and 360.

All the week's deals, as usual, follow the jump.

Discountoid: MK vs DCU, Dead Space and more deals photo

Nothing like a lazy sunday that gets turned into a rush to get things done because you've procrastinated. Lucky for me (less lucky for gamers), the deals are a little slim this week.

Target has some of the better offers this week, with Dead Space and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe both getting decent sale prices. Guitar Hero World Tour complete bundles are seeing a bit of a discount at most major retailers. And the price of Scene It! Box Office Smash has been permanently slashed thirty percent at Best Buy.

All of the week's bargains follow the jump.

Discountoid: Moon, Wario Land: Shake It! and more great deals photo

I was going to justify this image with a convoluted comment on how President's Day is on Monday and without the Great Emancipator, we would not have a word like "badonkadonk" in the popular lexicon. Then I realized that Moon received a great price drop this week. Further proof that the simplest explanations are almost always the best ones.

Let's do that Discountoid thang. As mentioned, GameStop has cut the price of Renegade Kid's Moon by over 30%, which is pretty sexy for a game Dale North enjoyed. Target also has Wario Land: Shake It! for a great price that you should check out.

And then there's... not much. President's Day is known for having great sales, but they're usually limited to bigger ticket items like appliances. I think the retailers figure folks are going to be in stores anyway. Although, there might be a few surprises in store for you if you click the link below and see the full list of deals this week.

Discountoid: DS games galore, Persona 3 and so much more! photo

It's a good week to be a DS fan.

I do believe it is time for another edition of Discountoid. GameStop and Best Buy both have a truckload of DS games on sale this week. The former has placed their focus on Ubisoft's library, while the latter has most of those and a few other tasty treats as well.

Also, turn your attention to Amazon this week if you haven't picked up Persona 3: FES yet. They currently have the limited edition with soundtrack on offer for almost half off their regular price. And while you're buying PS2 games, I'd recommend snagging Metal Slug Anthology for less than eighteen smackers.

All the deals come, as usual, after the jump.

Discountoid: Snowboarding, cheap Xbox Live and more photo

Something tells me they aren't as pure as the driven snow.

Time again for Discountoid. The deals are slim this week, but there are a couple that you should probably be paying attention to. First, Amazon has a great deal on 12-month Xbox Live cards, selling them for sixty percent of suggested retail. With the bonus month, that comes to  $2.30 a month for the service. Not bad at all.

Everybody has marked down Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip. Some are calling this a permanent price drop, which it probably is since every retailer on Earth seems to have reduced their price simultaneously. Oh, and check Best Buy for a great price on the new Prince of Persia.

Finally, don't forget that your local Circuit City is going out of business. The whole affair is being managed by a liquidation company, so there's no way of knowing how deep the discounts are going to go unless you visit the store but there are sure to be some deals available on games, hardware and other delights.

Discountoid: Cheerleaders, coaches and Wario, plus more great deals photo

I have spent several hours combing through the internet to find just the right image for Discountoid today. It was very taxing work. Thank you, kind retailers, for putting All-Star Cheer Squad on sale.

Best Buy has a massive ad this week with a lot of games you probably don't care about. Of note, however, is the My Coach series of DS learning software, all of which is discounted by ten smackers. If you were looking for an excuse to bone up on your Japanese or Spanish, it might be time.

I dredged up some good prices over at Amazon as well. You can grab Disgaea 3 for under forty dollars, which sounds like a deal to me. Also (and this is old but I'm deeply passionate about the game), Dokapon Kingdom is twenty bucks, which is so worth it. It's one of the most fun party games I've ever played and a steal at that price.

Most of the other ads are fairly weak, but I would mention that Target is currently offering Wario Land: Shake It! at 40% below MSRP. Not too shabby.

There's a little something for you to enjoy this holiday.

We're in the last week before Santa comes down chimneys everywhere, which means we're looking at the last of the bargains before the world ends in a fiery inferno of Christmas spirit. Or people will just wake up, exchange gifts and enjoy time with their families. One of those two things is definitely going to happen this week.

If you're still planning on the latter, you might want to check out some of the deals retailers have going on in the final run to the end of the season. Target has a great price on the Guitar Hero World Tour guitars bundle. Best Buy has cut the price of their EndWar package (featuring a wireless headset) nearly in half. And Circuit City is still going out of business in a lot of places and should have games discounted up to 40% (though the pickings were fairly slim last time I visited).

You might want to check Circuit City again photo

We told you early last month that electronics retailer Circuit City was closing over 150 stores. That's big news, as they held up about 10% of the US games market. Damn this economy!

We saw their "everything must go" sales last month, but were not impressed. They discounted their games a measly 5%. What bullsh*t! You could do better than that discount just about anywhere, especially on the internet. That doesn't even take care of tax!

It's worth checking back now, provided you have a closing store near you. I checked in on a local store yesterday, and the prices were much lower than before. Games were 30% off, and they actually had a solid selection. New games were still on the racks, too. Both of Square Enix's recent RPG duds may not be worth $60, but how about $40-something? Fallout 3 was there, as were the limited editions of the new GTA and Saints Row 2. All cheap.

Game accessories were also 30% off. I didn't really want a PSEye, but got one for a good price. They had no controllers left, but they did have just about everything else. Strategy guides and the like were a whopping 70% off. Found several nice ones for only dollars.

If you're a PC gamer, titles were 40% off and the selection was very solid. PC software was 50% off, too. And if you're still gaming on stereo television speakers, you're missing out. Circuit City had some insane discounts on receivers and speakers.

Discountoid: MGS4 under 10% of 360 and other amazing bargains photo

See what I did there?

Time again for Discountoid. Generally, as the holiday season accelerates towards its inevitable climax, videogame deals hover right around where they are the rest of the year, with a little more emphasis on family-friendly titles and a lot of accessories. This season is anything but typical, however, so maybe we'll be seeing things get a little crazier in the coming weeks.

This week? Pretty much what I would expect. If you're into sports games, Circuit City is offering 25% off several titles. Toys R Us has savings available if you're willing to buy two games and Best Buy has Metal Gear Solid 4 for 30 smackers, which strikes me as quite reasonable.

Discountoid: Cyber Monday 2008 photo

Just in case you didn’t max out all your credit cards on Black Friday, online retailers have fabricated a new bastion of American consumerism in recent years: “Cyber Monday.” It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, and while Black Friday is still thought of as a day for brick-and-mortar retailers to make bank, Cyber Monday was designed to help so-called e-tailers kick off their holiday shopping season. It’s even got its own Web site, CyberMonday.com, which is sponsored by the National Retail Federation’s Shop.org -- so you know it’s legit!

So why should you give a damn? Why, because there are some great deals to be had on videogames, of course! LittleBigPlanet can be found at Amazon for $39.95 (20% off), Best Buy is offering a free 3-month Xbox Live Gold card with the purchase of Gears of War 2, and you can get Ninjatown for half price ($14.99) at GameStop.com. Follow me to the jump for the best of what Cyber Monday has to offer videogame-wise!

[Editor’s note: Most of these deals -- especially the ones at Amazon -- are only valid while supplies last; if you happen to click onto a particular item’s page and you see the regular price, then you’ve missed out. It’s already Monday all across the continental US, so go, go, go! Also, you can click on the images for all the retailers except for Target to be taken to their respective Cyber Monday videogame deals pages. --Samit]

Discountoid: Black Friday 2008 photo

I love the smell of commerce in the morning.

Ever since I first started working in retail all those years ago, Black Friday has been my favorite day of the year. The lines of people banging at the gates, waiting to consume en masse, willing to do just about anything to save some cash on their holiday shopping, fill my soul with something I can only identify as patriotism. The raw energy of the day is just thrilling. I've never once shopped on that day, however. That could be suicide.

For those of you braver (or just more patient) than I, I present to you this year's roundup of smokin' hot Black Friday deals. Click on past the jump and observe the glory. And, just for fun, I'll give you some trivia on the most American holiday of them all.

Discountoid: We'll call this the

Just because the biggest shopping day of the year is right around the corner, doesn't mean that the retailers aren't fighting for your dollars during the rest of the week.

Target, in particular, has come out swinging. Several recent releases for PS2 and DS are getting some very nice discounts. In addition, there are several Gift Card opportunities on the table for Left 4 Dead and Rock Band 2.

Best Buy has made some permanent price drops. Too Human and Battlefield: Bad Company are now ten dollars less. And they're still working on clearing out their inventory of Rock Band bundles. The PS3 version of the first game in the series will save you $20 bucks this week.

All of the deals this week end on Wednesday, with Black Friday deals going into effect. We'll be rounding up all of those for you later in the week. For now, check out everything this week has to offer.

Discountoid: Atlus gets pimped out! photo

I'd like to thank Amazon for giving me the opportunity (read: excuse) to post that image.

That's not the only reason to praise the online retailer this week, however. They've slashed prices on over a dozen titles published by Atlus. There's some quality stuff in their list going for as little as fifty percent of retail.

Meanwhile, Best Buy is dropping a lot of Gift Card offers on both older and newer games. The already reasonably-priced Ninja Gaiden II will score you an additional $15 in store credit, along with a slew of other titles bearing a similar offer.

And, with City Folk right around the corner, Gamestop is offering previous Animal Crossing games at rather good prices. I, personally, have little interest in buying the third title in the series, but I can heartily recommend the original GameCube game at a $10 price point.

Follow the jump for more of this week's deals.

Discountoid: Valkyria Chronicles, Brothers in Arms, other cheap crap! photo

He's gonna love her 'till the money comes.

And speaking of the money coming, it's time once again to collect this week's gaming deals in Discountoid. Valkyria Chronicles is seeing a nice little price reduction at Circuit City this week. And while you're there, check and see if your location is one of the 155 stores the retailer plans to close by year's end. Word has it that they have already started clearance pricing merchandise and games are reported to be 10% off.

Best Buy and Gamestop have slashed prices on Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway with a $30 reduction. And, if you're that one guy who planned to pre-order Left 4 Dead but haven't yet, Fry's Electronics will take a good chunk out of the price for you if you frequent their fine establishment to do so.

More deals follow the jump.

Discountoid: Another Buy 2 Get 1, bundled accessories and more photo

Target stores have their sights set on getting you to spend this week, with a buy 2 get 1 free promotion in their Sunday ad. The bad news? It's only on Wii games. Still, if there are a few first-party titles you have yet to pick up for the waggle machine, it might be worth the effort to see what your local stores have in stock.

Meanwhile, Best Buy has a nice, exclusive bundle for Endwar on 360. For $90, they'll toss in a wireless 360 headset, saving you half the price of the accessory.  They are also giving away $20 gift cards with the purchase of select 360 games and accessories, but you'll have to buy two of them to get the promotion.

And, finally, if you were planning to grab Gears of War 2 this week, hop on down to Circuit City. They'll be giving away 1600 MS point cards with purchase of the game, so you can pick up some of the inevitable DLC that we'll be seeing.

All of the week's deals follow the jump.

Discountoid: Gift Cards Galore photo

I hope you like Gift Cards, because an exceptionally large chunk of this week's deals are giving them away. Circuit City currently has ten titles with $10 Gift Card offers. Gamefly has dropped prices on a whole slew of used games that are worth taking a gander at. Meanwhile, everyone else has a pretty meager offering in the ad circulars, with the exception of Best Buy's $20 drop on Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.

The interesting thing, however, is how much real estate the games are taking up in the ads. Several of the circulars this week had twice the amount of space devoted to videogames as I'm used to seeing, which can only mean one thing. Can you say, "Christmas ramp-up?" I knew you could.

Hit the jump to see all the deals this week.

Discountoid: Cheap Rock Band bundles, buy 2 get 1 free and other deals! photo

GameStop has dropped $30 off the price of Rock Band bundles, what with the bundles for Rock Band 2 coming out this week. If you don't care about the improved instruments, it's not a bad deal. Also, they are having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on all used games this week, so it might be a good opportunity to stock up on some things you may have missed at release.

Elsewhere, the Rock Band 2 bundles are getting some gift with purchase promotions. Best Buy has a free set of drum shades. I'm not sure what good drum shades are going to be, but they're giving them away. Meanwhile, Circuit City is offering up a free T-shirt.

And, finally, Amazon has several games on clearance. Titles like The Club and  Two Worlds are pretty cheap, but The Darkness is the best deal at less than $5. It isn't a great game, but absolutely worth playing at that price if you haven't tried it yet.

Hit the jump for our roundup of this week's bargains.

Discountoid: Buy 2 get 1 free, cheap Wii accessories and more massive savings! photo

The giraffe has lost its mind.

Toys R Us is having a HUGE video game sale this week. All games are "Buy 2 get 1 free," including new releases! This includes titles from the website, so you could score a great deal on some games that haven't even been released yet.

Not only are the games on the cheap, Wii accessories are also deeply discounted. You can score 40% off on all sorts of plastic crap for your waggle machine. Now, the promotion excludes Wii Remotes and Nunchuks, which goes against the concept of "all" accessories being on sale, but I'm willing to forgive them. Why? Nintendo Points cards are also part of the promotion! It's like free money!

Meanwhile, the other retailers have pretty lackluster promos going this week by comparison.  Circuit City is offering gift cards with purchase of a few of this week's releases and has a "Buy 1 Get 1 50% off" deal running. Target comes to the party a week late by discounting Guitar Hero Aerosmith. And check out Steam today if you want to save 50% on Peggle Deluxe, as that promotion ends tonight.

All the deals this week get rounded up after the jump.

[Massive thanks to Cheapassgamer for gathering info on the Toys R Us promos this week.]

Discountoid: The Frugal Boys of Boston, protecting bewbs and more bargains! photo

That's how I always visualize Steven Tyler.

Time again for Discountoid! It's hard to muster up a whole lot of excitement this week, but we do have a few deals worth mentioning.

First up, it's not a bad week to pick up some Guitar Hero. Toys R Us has all of their Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith bundles on sale for $20 off. If you already have all the plastic guitars you need and just want to "Walk This Way," Best Buy can save you $10 on the standalone Aerosmith title.

Next, Circuit City is offering some decent discounts on a few first-party titles for Wii. Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy and others are enjoying $10 to $15 off.

This isn't so much a deal, but I thought it was worth bringing up. If you're a fan of breasts (melons, jugs, fun bags, naughty pillows, etc.) and the women that carry them, Nintendo has released a DS supporting the Susan G. Komen foundation. Pick one up and the Big N will donate $5 to the organization that's fighting the fight for snack trays everywhere.

The full list of this week's deals lies beyond the jump. And, if you're looking for something else to use all of that fat loot you're saving, might I suggest donating it to torment Jim Sterling help sick kids? Cough up some of that green over at the SingSterling donation page.

Discountoid: Ninja Gaiden 2 price-drop, Rock Band clearance, more cheap stuff! photo

Another week, another edition of Discountoid. This time around, Ninja Gaiden 2 is seeing a permanent $20 reduction at a few retailers.

Circuit City has put their Rock Band bundles on sale to make room for the new Rock Band 2 product, so this might be a good time for you to save a little cash on some instruments if you don't mind using the older models.

Ramping up for the holiday season, GameStop is doing one of their trade-in promotions this week where every two 360, PS3 or Wii games you give them nets you an additional $10 in store credit.

And, with Silent Hill: Homecoming releasing this week, there are a few giveaways with purchase. Best Buy will inflict the horrifying (for the wrong reasons) DVD of Silent Hill with a purchase. I'm much more interested in getting my hands on the Pyramid Head keychain that Circuit City has on offer.

Hit the jump to see all the deals we scrounged up for you this week.

Discountoid: Week of 9/21/2008 photo

You know what is better than videogames? Cheap videogames. We have an expensive hobby and it helps to be able to save a few bucks here and there. And each week, retailers vie for our attention with assorted offers of reduced prices and freebies to snag our gaming dollar.

Enter Discountoid. Every week, I'll be compiling the various promotions offered by major US chains in their ad circulars and giving you the skinny on how you can save a bit of cash. Don't see your preferred outlet? Tell me and I'll look into getting it added to the list.

This week, Toys "R" Us is having a birthday bash for its mascot, resulting in a Buy 2 Get 1 Free promotion. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 are seeing a significant price drop across the board. And Fry's Electronics must have a lot of Prey sitting in their warehouses, as they've tossed it into a 360 bundle.

Hit the jump to find out where you can score some savings this week.
