Joking aside, I'm happy to see big players in the industry supporting gay rights and making homosexuals feel at home (barring moronic teenagers on XBOX live but we sadly can't control inbreeding in the US). Good work for all companies involved
Why exclude a demographic that has expendable money?
If there was more money to be had NOT supporting gay/lesbian/etc they most definitely would do that.
Stuff like this from companies is purely PR, don't think otherwise. All they want is your money.
Personally, I'm hoping Dante finally comes out in this new DmC. That's not even a joke...gaming seriously needs an openly gay, playable protagonist if it's going to move forward as an art form.
I'm happy EA's doing this, regardless of what people think of them as a company(I think they're crap) it's a good move and whenever any company does something along these lines it makes me happy to see.
Also I don't consider ANY of their homosexual characters as being "progressive" - they are all as shallow and one-dimensional as this.
But Jim, you fully complimented EA on doing something. Are you feeling okay, brah?
It's nice to see them be more vocal for their support in the United States though.
I.e. Not every women needs to be a sex object, and not ever man needs to be a huge muscular power dude. I guess this kind of thinking only really occurs in triple A games, but still.
it is a shame that our gov cant treat gay people like normal people, and even worse is that a shit talking corperation like EA is. what a fucked up world huh.
C'mon man, lighten up with the homophobia. It's simple, society treats normality as being white, being male and being straight, which excludes more than half of the population. It's about feeling accepted, feeling that what you are is not treated as an abnormality, its about being treated as a respectable person.
They want to have their gathering were they and other people like them want to be in the spotlight, and I think it's great.
Take five minutes and contemplate whether or not your position is based on critical thought, or on the fact that it's just the most convenient and simple position to take based on the face value of the issue.
As many times as I hear that argument, it never ceases to surprise me when people seem to believe so deeply in its validity.
"The problem is not that the gov can't treat gay people as normal people."
You're right. That is a problem. What you're looking at here, is part of the solution.
