If there's one thing I love about the 3DS, it's the giddy excitement that it seems to inspire from jaded writers and world-weary developers alike. Electronic Arts is the latest to radiate the hyperactive glee of a small child with a new toy, with COO John Schappert calling it magical.
"The 3DS is just incredibly cool. The 3DS is magical. You put that in your hand, you look down, and all of a sudden it’s in 3D without glasses. That’s an amazing experience. I’m a huge fan," he beams.
"I think that device is going to sell like hot cakes. I think it’s going to do incredibly well, and in typical Nintendo fashion they have re-energized the industry, yet again. I give them nothing but credit and we are excited to be supporting that platform with Madden, FIFA, and The Sims that we announced."
Yep, that's pretty much the reaction we've come to expect.
I have never been as excited for a handheld as much as I have for the 3DS. If this thing doesn't fly off store shelves, I'll shove one up my arse.
Nintendo's 3DS is 'Magical' and Will 'Sell Like Hotcakes,' says EA [Industry Gamers]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It's a new generation of Nintendo handhelds. Have they let us down before?
From the Game Boy, to the Color, to the Advance, to the DS. All 4 were well worth the money.
Always an amazing library of games, and from what we've seen so far, this looks no different.
Please kindly gtfo.
I kid. This thing is going to sell gangbusters if reaction is anything to go by. I know I'm going to claw and bite my way through a store opening to get one myself.
Plus, pokemon B/W support.
Buy the 3DS, and keep the DS Lite. I'm sure you have plenty of inventory space for two portable gaming systems.
Your type of gamers aren't takin too kindly around these parts.

let´s save money for this
The amount of amazing games you just admitted to missing out on is mind-boggling. I actually feel bad for you :-(
Also, apparently we live in a "magical" age. What has Apple started?
i like my games on the bigger screens etc. if im going out somewhere its to do stuff, not sit around by myself and play portable games. i drive a car and cant play while driving, and i dont go places where i sit for hours on end with nothing else to do. if im out, its to do something.
if im at home, i can play my ps3 or games on my laptop. i have enough console games as it is
One to play
The other one to extort eager early adopters on eBay with when they inevitably sell out.
As much as I so desperately want to see this 3D effect that has the gaming media afroth, I can achieve that much by securing a few minutes with a kiosk at Best Buy next spring when 3DS launches.
Meanwhile, we have literally every reason to believe that Nintendo's own precedent will be followed, and the hardware will get a quick update just as the "launch window" titles give way to the truly amazing experiences allowable with this new tech.
Consider how amusingly clunky and quaint the original DS looked once Nintendo launched the DS Lite, and you've got an idea of what we'll think about the current 3DS at, roughly, Christmas 2012.
At that point, I'll have built up a stable of games I want to play for the platform, too, and not just "ooh, I bet that'll look cool in 3D!" but then it sits on a shelf because it's more a tech demo than a fun game.
All of that said, I REALLY want to play a 3DS firsthand and see what all the rapture's about.
Everybody knows that you can't make something this awesome without sacrificing a couple of virgins first...

They would have had me at "more powerful DS with smooth thumb analog." Glasses free 3D is like the cherry on top, plus being able to install software. Thats more than enough win to merit a day one buy and pre-order.
Only thing that could get better is Virtual console integration.
Haha, that's probably one of the funniest thing I've read today. But either way, this will sell a lot and I can't wait to get my hands on it. So far, Nintendo hasn't disappointed me in their portable devices.
Who wants to place a bet on how many Wal-Mart employees get trampled to death during it's launch? I'm calling 37.
I'll shove one up my ass either way. Maybe I'll become magical too.
LOL

Care to make that a bet?
But I AM a bit worried about the library of games.
The one's they showcased at E3 were incredible, but have we really seen anything noteworthy since?
Can't say I have, I could be wrong, hell I'm probably wrong, but still...
