Wii game of the year? Elebits? Is Summa actually gonna do it? I think I may just have, but you'll have to wait until Destructoid's end of the year awards to find out. Until then, let's all breathe in the goodness of Elebits. Forget Zelda, forget all the other throw aways on the Wii, this is THE game to have on the system. If you have a Wii, go buy Elebits. If you don't have a Wii, go buy a Wii and buy Elebits. I wouldn't steer you wrong people, I wouldn't steer you wrong.

I am not going to watch these!!!! Don't want to spoil it.

If Summa is saying to buy the Wii for this game, it MUST be something good!

It's true, the game is pure awesome. I've been playing the hell out of it, and it's got that level editor feature where you can send levels to your friends. Tons and tons of replay value there. The voice acting is horrendous, but who cares about that? If you've got a wii, you should be out buying this right now.

It's like if Katamari had been a FPS, this is what you'd get.

Holy shit, i need a fork to shove in my ear. The voice acting in that opening scene is fucking terrible. I would rather listen to Mario "woohoos" for 2 hours than what i just listened to. Holy fuck, my ears won't stop bleeding.

Who cares about the voice acting. The "plot" is really nothing, and 99% of it can be skipped without losing out on anything. But indeed, Elebits is crazy ass fun.

Ted- it gets way worse a few levels in. :(
But screw that, this is the most fun I've had in a long time.

Voice acting and story matter not. Gameplay is what rules here. Fuck yo' Zelda!!!

I'm up to the fifth level. It's definitely harder than Legend of Zelda.

Better than Legend of Zelda? In my opinion, that's stretching it a bit. Although I'd say it might be more worthwhile as an overall package with multiplayer and online stuff.

I've said from when I first saw it that Elebits is the proof of concept for the Wii. The game will probably be short, and have some technical flaws, but in its idea, it shows what a 3d controller+pointing device can do.

I love Zelda, and I don't want to come back from the pointing aiming. Trauma Center is great as well, but it's been done on the DS.

I really think that the Wii will be a series of proof of concepts one after another, at least for the next year. Then we'll start seeing the polish being put on the concepts.

But as someone who enjoys this sort of game evolution, it's cool.

Zelda hard?

Twilight Princess was anything but hard!!!
I never came close to dying once during the game...at the end I still had 10 hearts and 2 extra faeries (accidentally used one).

The only hard parts were the jousting and the "secret" desert dungeon where you fight two or three of those shielded knights at the same time in the cave.

But the desert was the best part...dungeon and everytyhing..

If Summa says buy Elebits, THEN DAMMIT I'M GONNA DO IT!

Just don't tell me to buy that Sonic game for the Xbox 360.
Or I'll have to forcefully destroy every copy to prevent my purchase.

Blindside, that's my point. At least it's challenging.

By the way, the challenge with Legend of Zelda games were always with the puzzles, not the combat.

Well, okay, lemme juxtapose this one at you... If you've played any variation of Half Life 2, where you get to violently and manevolently use the Gravity Gun, is this going to appeal to that same core need of destroying property by hurling things? Or is it just knocking books over and rattling garbage cans?

I liked Katamari's ultimate hook. When you get to later levels you roll up people, buildings, cars, etc to the shrieks of the people that would end up getting rolled up. That was the qualifier that pleased me there.

If I can use this pseudo gravity gun to toss cats, dogs, kids, cars, and such and all living creatures react accordingly to being hurled (not to their death necessarily) in such a manner, then we're talking must have in my book.

Answers anyone?

YES! Got this last night and I was stunned by how much extra stuff they put in this game. It was like when I realised that Katamari kept track of EVERY item you picked up. Unfortunately I have not been able to play cause my wife is addicted to it! She loves the sound that the capture gun makes.

HEEEEEAAAAAAALLLLLLLPPPPPPP!

Dammit. I looked at this video. ugh. I was planning on getting Super Swing Golf (something to get me to stop playing Hot Shots on the PSP) today.

What's this level editor thing? We get to pick a room and place the little guys ourselves? Or design a room and they hide based on where we put stuff?

Anyone care to elaborate so I can go waste my $50 more effectively?

Daaaang, as soon as I read this post I hopped in the car and drove to the closest place I figured I could get it near me, Best Buy, because it said it was available on the website. But when I got in the store I couldn't find it and the dude gave me a bored 'if its on the website it means we sell it, but doesn't have to be here'... bastards.

So I just bought a USB keyboard and decided I'd spend my evening (before studying for finals) installing Fedora on my PS3 to pass the time.

The only complaints I have about this game so far are the voice acting and that the larger outside levels with a ton of stuff going on can cause a noticable bit of processor lag (resulting in a fluctuating frame rate).

The editing mode takes a bit of getting used to as well. Placing objects in 3D space with a Wii remote has quite a learning curve.

Other than that though, it is a solid game that is a whole lot of fun. There is an amazing amount of depth to it, and I agree that it is the best game out on the Wii right now (and probably will be for a while).

Is that a bad thing? I don't know about you, but I think being easily amused is a positive for any gamer. It just means I enjoy my games that much more.

I think the problem is that you are too hard to amuse.

Well, since Gamestop doesn't like carrying new games for days after release, I got this instead of SSGolf. That'll have to wait till after xmas. And honestly, I kinda go through a games buying spree like a squirrel storing nuts at times. Buy 4-6 games in a month, and then none for months after. So, time to stock up I suppose. VC games every monday, Wario Ware's coming next month too, along with whatever they're dropping for xmas, the weather channel (aka Time Killer 2006...) and sometime soon, the browser.

...
