Still, I've felt compelled to continually boot up the demo over the last few weeks. The artistic style and subject matter are unlike anything I've seen attempted in videogames thus far, and for those reasons alone I'll likely be purchasing a copy.
I think there are more than one weapon. And I also recall reading somewhere that the game auto levels your character depending on your playing still.
That's why I was wondering what the purpose of the orange orbs are in this game. If they go toward upgrading weapons and such, that would be fine, but if combat and weapons don't progress at all throughout the game, and if the initial combos remain stagnant in their variety, then it would seem that there is serious potential for the combat to get stale pretty early on. I'm only worried about it because I remember the developer's mantra being "simplicity" when talking about this game.
I've been playing the demo lately too, and it is hard. As balls. I'm just not starting to get it down and I can't wait to play more when it gets here. Also does anyone know if this is a download or a retail title?
Japanese Games I'm getting this year:
- Shadows of the Damned (Should definitely get a Demo after E3)
- Catherine (Demo was great + weird...I want to try something very different!)
- El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (Demo was great and ohh the art style!)
- Dark Souls (The latest trailer and From Software pedigree is more than enough)
These four games put a bit of my faith back into the future of Japan's Game Development, not to count how excited I'm for getting the MGS HD Collection on the 360!
@D4rth Man7iz Yeah it really seems Japanese devs are making a comeback (they never really went away for me personally) and I hope these games sell well over here.
If anything its the western AAA game industry that is in a state of stagnation as all they seem to make is fucking FPS games
The later european release is shitty but atleast it is be sold as so many Japanese games only get localised in the US. (Altus, NIS, Xseed, Aksys)
if they are trying to sell me on it being original and artistic
best not explain it through an un-original mediocre musician who relies heavily on her dead-eyed marketing team and lazily designed costumes
I really think El shaddai could be more than that
