I'm currently in Austin, Texas, location of the headquarters of Gamecock Media Group, and site of EIEIO 2008. The event is currently taking place at Austin's famous Stubb's Bar-B-Q, which contains a pretty open concert space, and God damn is it cold out here. Weather.com is currently reporting 37 degrees (feels like 30!), with light rain.
Granted, we were shown most of the games in closed-doors settings, and there are a number of large outdoor heaters spread about the venue. But I'm a girly-man, and I admit as much. So yeah, the games ... sorry, can't talk about 'em. Why? Blame the British press with their accents and their long flights, but game specific coverage is embargoed until next week.
I can talk about how cold it is, though, so I'll continue to do so. It's really cold, so I'm back at my hotel where I'm going to layer on every single piece of clothing I packed before I head back for this evening's festivities (bands, food, drinks). I guess I can also take some pictures of some of the schwag I picked up at the event including: a shot glass, a bottle opener, and a single sock. Sounds like a good night to me.
Check back next week for details on the nine games I had a chance to check out today. In the meantime, if you're in the Austin area, stop by Stubb's and bring me a sweater. My skinny ass can't take this for much longer.
Anyway, if i weren't in houston, i'd stop by and shoot the shit.
I still wear shorts though. :)
And yet they failed to mention that ANYWHERE on the [ulr = http://www.eieio2008.com/home.html]site...[/url]

You suffer from too many periods as well? I've gone through 3 pairs of underwear this week!
@Dexter345: We actually live in Baltimore, but same deal.
SACK IT UP, HON.
Please tell me you are partaking in SXSW.
The first game I tried was Insecticide. There were two portions I tried. The first was an introduction into the game play. The game involves jumping and shooting (with a button for lock on). Fun but not innovative. The second section (which I never completed) involved gathering evidence. There is voice acting for the sections I played but the comedy was hit and misss
I got a chance to play hail to the chimp, not as good as Pirates vs Ninjas. But that may have been because it was more difficult to play. You basically beat on the other characters, getting clams, and eventually a character can use some type of forced team skill that makes the game imbalanced .
Finally I got a chance to play Legends.
WARNING SOME MINOR SPOILERS
This game shows the greatest promise/worries of all the games they had available (I did leave early btw). It was a short demo (not even 15 minutes long). You start out with a glowing hand and a guy tossing you a submachine gun. You fight 3 types of baddies, werewolves, humans, and a minotaur. The aiming was a little to loose. When adjusted this made aiming through the scope to slow. Also, the AI could use some tweaking. I understand that minotaur don't necessarily have major weapons to use but by my second play through I could burn through the demo way to fast. I hope they fix some of the issues because this game has a very promising story line (I think).
