Jim Sterling already showed you a preview of what the action will be like in the game. What he failed to mention though, mostly due to whoever edited the video, is that
Insecticide is an action game as well as a detective game. The
DS version of the game will have the main focus of you trying to figure out the crime with the occasional action packed levels.
I got the chance to play both variations with Gamecocker Finally (I could not get over how awesome his last name is. So much so I've completely forgotten his first name). Sadly though, I don't really have much to say about this game. I'm an action fiend so this game really wasn't my cup of tea. I could definitely see this pleasing the Hotel Dusk crowd though.
When you go into detective mode, you will look for clues and talk to people insects. You can ask insects a set list of questions to figure out what is going on. The clues you find are also used to help jog people's memories. There is no running, gunning or any action in these bits. It's all strictly business.
The action levels play out like any traditional action platformer. You have different weapons you can get, double jump and an easy lock-on button to help with the DS control style. This part of the game really reminded me of Ghost in the Shell for the PS1. It'll become pretty frantic so you got to be quick when it comes to the fights.
A PC version is also planned with a new story line and will be out sometime 2007.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else.
