Look, Eidos -- whether or not what we've been hearing about the Batman: Arkham Asylum reviews is true, we ain't mad at you. In your defense, you say it's not, so we'll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt because you probably have a bunch of dangerous Batarangs lying around and we don't.
So here's the thing: while we make no promises that we'll love the game once we see it from beginning to end (that's not like us), one thing is pretty clear -- God damn, it looks good.
After the jump is a video that takes a look at some of the game's villains, the Joker, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Killer Croc, and Mr. Zsasz specifically. Batman kicks their asses. They kick Batman's ass. It's all very major-motion-picture, a really well-edited trailer that gives us the impression that developer Rocksteady has nailed the atmosphere and feel of the Batman universe.
While a damned good trailer doesn't mean there's a damned good game to back it up, we're willing to give it a try. Immediately. Eidos, give us a call!
As beautiful as this looks the possible shady rumors of the Eidos early review debacle has made me seriously think twice about pre-ordering this game. I think I will wait to read reviews on this before I make a decision. Good looks help but they alone don't make a good game.
I'm willing to bet those are all the characters minus Scarecrow who I think is supposed to be in the gamestop pre order villain map. I love the wikipedia page that lists practically every known enemy and its cited with IMDB... oh yeah that's official.
And addressing the rumors, ITS EIDOS! They do shady shit for every game no matter the quality. Go to Best Buy, play the demo. Just that demo is awesome. The end.

Insert repetition to what you played times a hundred and your early preview may make you eat crow. I had money down on this game and passed the funds to another game after hear about Eidos' shenanigans, that knocked it out of the Day One Purchase for me. I can wait for the reviews to come in to see if I need to purchase it.
I think it's going to be a okay beat em up. It's going to have annoying non-beat em up parts, and that's that. It's got the batman license, which has hardly ever worked in game form. Batman Returns on super nintendo being the one to go to for beat em up action, but even there it's only one player. Beat em ups always should have two player.
The game's storyline sounds shitty, looks slick and polished, and what I played was about as basic beat em up as it got. Batman's locked in the aslyum with all his friends. Fight through one area that's in the same grey/brown color scheme over and over. Maybe into a sewer area to fight a killer, I don't know, crocodile of some sort? Maybe make it over into a garden jungle area. Do I really need to go on with this? The game does not look like something I want to pay sixty dollars for. Twenty maybe. Ten defiantly. But sixty? I don't make editor in chief money.
You know what really nails the batman universe? Some of the comic books. Even then, they all don't nail it. They're all over the place in quality and consistency. I couldn't tell you if Joe Chill killed batmans parents now or not. Not that the biggest fans of Batman even know who the hell Joe Chill even is, or was.
I had the same opinions on Ghostbusters as well. Looks like fun, but sixty dollars is crazy for a third person shooter. Even with a great license.
@Yojimbo
Thank you. You validate my opinion even more so than you'll ever know.
My demo impressions of the game would be like a 7. Very clunky, very odd slow-mo choices/jarred combat, and no jump button/generic enemies make it a bit weird. The voice acting/cinematics were top notch though, and as a Batman fan, I still want it, plain and simple, despite the game's quality.
Speculation is pointless. I don't pre-order games... there just really is no point. So many games to play, I can wait a week or two after release and hear some opinions, rent, demo, etc...
Now after saying all that.... @trailer: hooooooly shiiit this is what a Batman game SHOULD look like. We'll see if it's how a Batman game should PLAY like, when it comes out.

"The game does not look like something I want to pay sixty dollars for."
Then don't.
I'll wait till it is released, and probably buy it on impulse. Because I like Batman and the villains, and also because I'm made of money.
