Quantcast

For anything animated, there are only two voices you can possibly turn to when it comes to Batman: Mark Hamill for The Joker and Kevin Conroy for Batman. So, I'm glad to see (and not terribly surprised) that both of these fine folks will be reprising their roles, and giving Batman: Arkham Asylum a bit of familiarity -- especially since Dini, the game's writer, also wrote Batman: The Animated Series.

It's interesting to think about how these two, Hamill and Conroy, have helped define these characters for a good 16 years now. Most influential stories in Batman continuity last for a decade at best, but these two have strongly defined what the Joker and Batman sound like, to the point where anyone else in an animated series just sounds funny -- and they show no signs of slowing down.

I kinda figured as much, when I heard The Joker's trademark Animated Series laugh in the latest trailer.

Those two voices, really do define the characters. Cool that they didn't cheap out and go with sound-alikes.

What's "JYB" anyway?

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hammil are to the animated Batman what Christian Bale and Heath Ledger are to the live action Batman. 'nuff said.

@RyoGeo

I'm guessing Johnny Young Bosch, but what the voice of Trigun has to do with Batman, I just don't know.

Johnny Yong Bosch can stay the hell away from my non-anime stuff.

DO WANT.

Mark Hamill was fantastic as the joker but holy hell, time has not been kind to him.

Hehe. Remember Mark Hamill as Ripburger in Full Throttle? That was great, too.

Watching that video brought a smile to my face!
Mark Hamill IS the Joker, albeit in animated form.
I have been a fan of that series since it's inception!
Love it! Way, way ahead of it's time...
Helluva job on the casting of Kevin Conroy(amazing as Bats) and Hammil!
Now I am really looking forward to playing this game.

We can quibble endlessly over the best live action portrayals of the characters, but Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are, without a doubt, their voices.

Getting the rest of the Animated Series voice cast would be even more win. They were excellence choices all around.

^I agree, all the animated voices were pretty perfect. Heck, they even made Dick Grayson sound cool.

Anyway, every time I read the comic books, Kevin Conroy will always be Batman and Mark Hamil will always be Joker. Just one more reason why this game CANNOT suck.

Oh nostalgia. Mark Hamill made and still makes for a great joker. Arkham Asylum is really shaping up.
