Eidos confirms Doctor Who game is in the works, Daleks better come with that photo

There's a crystal clear line between the casual and the hardcore dork. Watching Doctor Who proudly catapults you past that line and far into the serious realm, where people say "Huh?" when you try to explain what you're into. Good news is, you aren't alone, as Doctor Who holds a soft spot in the heart of many a fan. Thanks to the internet, you can now find those other fans through forums and websites rather than sitting at home alone wearing your Tom Baker reproduction scarf and wishing you had someone to show it to.

Thanks to Eidos, fans may be able to take their appreciation to the next level with the Doctor Who game, which has been confirmed for DS, PS2 and PC. A rep commented that the game is "not too far away" and that more details will be along soon. If I can either kill or control a Dalek, I'll be pleased as punch. I also would love the option of playing all ten doctors, but I'm sure that's probably pushing my fantasies a bit too far.

There had better be Cybermen vs. Dalek fights!

The DS/PS2/PC thing is a bit of a letdown though. Can't we have delicious current-gen delicious Billie Piper? Mmm, delicious.

I hope this is an adventure/puzzle game and not a third person action game...

Well, there is (or at least was) that game on the BBC's Doctor Who website where you're a Dalek and get to kill the ninth doctor as well as destroy the Tardis. ^_^

If it has David Tennant I will actually sleep with this game!

Hopefully it'll be a completely separate storyline with its own companion. The modern series is so carefully constructed season to season that I'd hate to have any more cooks spoiling that broth.

Which reminds me, I'm a couple weeks behind on Torchwood.

I had to double take when I saw who posted this. Hopefully this one is better than the last one Rev posted about.

Wait a minute... Colette broke this news?! I mean absolutely no offense to you, Colette, as you have just jumped up about forty or fifty coolness points. But Linde and the Rev have a long-standing reputation as Who-aholics. Come on, boys, you've dropped the ball here. Sterling is actually British, for Christ's sake!!! I know he doesn't care for the show, but at least for appearances sake he could have said something. Well... only Colette gets to be cool today.

In other thoughts, Sharpless is probably right. Which sucks massive, epic wang.

From what I've heard it will be based on a card game, so I'm not expecting a whole lot. I hope it gets an official release in the States, though. I love Doctor Who.

I'd love to see a REAL Doctor Who game running on the Source Engine, though.

@Luscious Richard - To the credit of the boys, I did kind of pounce on the news as soon as I saw it. Within like, 30 seconds. ^___^

On Rev’s recommendation, I recently got into Doctor Who. I just finished watching the 2005 season (Ninth Doctor), and it was pretty good, though I’ve heard that David Tennant is better than Christopher Eccleston.

In the UK, Doctor Who is one of the two or three most successful dramas on television; sometimes the most.

It may be for "dorks" in your country, but it's popular entertainment in these parts.

David Tennant is not better than Christopher Eccleston, he's just a bit younger and you see more of him :)

Christopher Ecclestone was my favourite, but maybe that's because he's northern. I do think that David Tennant was a "better" doctor, but I'm chalking that up to him having more material and being able to show a wider cross section of the character e.g. "Human Nature".

I can only see the game working as an old school Lucas Arts style adventure game. It's hard to make Dr. Who anything else because he's the least violent sci-fi hero ever. His best weapons are a screwdriver and a piece of paper!

And a card game? Really? What kind of cards would you use? "Identify Galifeyan technology", "flirt with companion", "make confusing statements about the Face of Boe"?
