Before there was Surfer Girl there was Electronic Gaming Monthly's Quartermann, bringer of unverifiable rumors and high hopes. This month's EGM brings a new batch of juicy tid-bits, including some juicy Nintendo dirt that might make even the most dedicated fans toss their Wii remotes through their televisions.
Quartermann drops some news about Activision's recent acquisition, Bizarre Creations. The makers of Project Gotham Racing are said to be working on a James Bond title, which may come as a surprise to some. The game is said to contain plenty of driving, though, and I think a dash of Geometry Wars would yield a game even more compelling than GoldenEye 64.
Mr. Mann also drops a frustrating rumor about Nintendo, alleging that Nintendo cancelled a first-party game because the devs wanted to grant the player more customization options. Say what now? Does Nintendo know something that we don't about things that are uh, good? Because more Mii customization sure would be "good." Right? Right.
Other rumors include: a new Front Mission game that's exclusive to the Xbox 360; a Guitar Hero-inspired action game was in the works at the now defunct EA Chicago; and Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers for the Wii "appears to be in trouble." These rumors and more can be found in the January 2008 issue of EGM.

If you have been listening to the 1UP Yours podcast recently, have heard Shane bring this up before. It sucks that Nintendo thinks what we have now in terms of Mii customization is enough, and it sucks that they felt the need to (supposedly) cancel a first-party game over their disagreement. I mean, if a group of first-party developers are asking for more customization options you'd think Nintendo would lend them a hand right? I don't understand what Nintendo is thinking sometimes...
I feel like I have been saying this a lot lately (but I probably have), why not make the Front Mission game downloadable. This may prevent it from getting on the XBLA (due to size restrictions and all), but there is no point in putting a Front Mission game out for over $29.99 - because it just won't succeed financially. Not enough people buy the game to begin with, and then you put it on the 360 exclusively (where it will likely fail in Japan). Square-Enix are certain properties are just destined to fail, or do you just not want to take advantage of opportunities that could make the series more successful?
Does that action game inspired by Guitar Hero remind you of Brutal Legend? Anyone?
Let it be true please ;-;
And Nintendo being dicks, shocker of shocks, lord I hope the Wii fad passes soon.
And yeah Quaretermann=Surfer Girl.
Am I the only one that owns a Wii and doesn't give a fuck about Nintendo shooting down a third-party product that tries to mess with their IP? Not to mention that I think the Miis are just a gimmicky waste of time.
Nah, maybe give them to me as floating heads to save my games under and perhaps the odd wii sports game with my family, and that's it.
O FUCK YES GIMME GIMME GIMME
